    Defining "normal" weight and BMI

Well, that just sucks. I'm supposed to be 110 pounds by that formula. I haven't been 110 pounds since 5th grade. I was between 115 and 125 when I was dancing. For me it would be about 115, which I feel is too skinny for me. Interesting formula! For me that makes it 130. I've been maintaining at 135 so that's pretty close. As for the frame size thing-- I can't wrap my head around how you evaluate that. I know the thing about wrapping your thumb and index finger around your wrist (gap=large, meet=medium, overlap=small) BUT when I was obese they I had a gap and now they meet. So if frame size is independent of height how does that happen?

    Fried Foods

My doctor told me to never eat celery because it is to hard for our small tummies to break down. It doesn't brother you? I eat celery with my doctors blessing. Didn't even attempt it till a year out and pulled all the strings (or most of them) off first for about another six months. Now I eat them normally but chew them to death first and I've never had any problems. Carrots on the other hand don't sit too well. There are lots of things my stomach doesn't handle well (rice, bread, Apple peels come to mind) but celery isn't one of them.

    Costco find-pulled pork!

I guess you could, but no I ate it warmed. And put it on sourdough rolls for hubby and the kids. Served with Cole slaw

    Ibuprofen

Guess it's another all docs are different issue. Mine said don't use it for and chronic things or long term but a few here and there for a headache or something were fine but not more than 600mg. The issue is that it irritates the lining of the stomach and that is a risk for developing ulcers. If you have a normal stomach and get an ulcer that won't go away they can do surgery and remove that part of the stomach. With how little stomach we have that could be a huge problem.

    Sugar free slurpe 711

I've never had a carbonated slurpee! Interesting! Course I've never had one of the soda flavored ones maybe those are the carbonated ones? Our 711 has crystal light ones. Don't know how that could be bad

    Eating out

Could be... I've made all sorts of special requests (like ordering the "add on" portions of shrimp or whatever) instead of a full meal... Or half portion... And haven't had any trouble even without the card. I typically don't want what's on the kid menu, so that's something I haven't tried. It's typically fried or carb heavy. I think it may also depend on if you are eating at a chain that has specific rules or an independent restaurant. I do order kids meals at a couple of fast food places--chick fil a and their grilled nuggets Come to mind--and haven't been questioned at all.

    how fast?

Wow! I thought I lost fast but looking at you guys I feel slow! I lost 136lbs in almost a year exactly.
  9. Thanks for your comment. I will definitely need my glasses. I'll probably have my ID and insurance cards in my bag also. Do I need to take a debit or credit card with me just in case?I would bring something so you can get prescriptions on your way home. Best of luck to you! They took my belongings and kept them safely for my but specifically did NOT want me to have any money or debit/credit cards--sent mine home with my mother in law. They also has me leave any jewelry at home (even my wedding ring). They did let me have my phone and kept it for me with my glasses/contacts and toiletries and such. See if your doctor can give you the prescriptions ahead of time so you can fill them before surgery. Mine did both with my WLS and with my plastics.

    Eating out

I've got one of those cards but haven't used it. No one is required to honor if so I wonder if it would really help any more than simply asking would.

    Sugar free slurpe 711

Sounds similar to a sugar free Popsicle which we are encouraged to eat post op.
  12. I have had a few people tell me I'm too skinny (my husband being one of them, but he's very change-averse). But at 5'6" 135lbs, 46 years old, 18% body fat, I'm in a healthy range. The plastic surgeon who did my work did tell me not to lose any more, but I have no intention of doing that. Perhaps it's just because the average American woman is now a size 12 I believe? A size 4 probably looks quite skinny.
  13. Love my aria and j don't even own a Fitbit. It automatically syncs to my fitness pal so I never have to record. It also does a body fat percentage which isn't totally accurate, but at least let's you chart a trend
  14. My mother in law dropped me off and my husband came after work to visit, but no one was there during the actually surgery, not till hours later. Happens all the time, they will take care of you!
  15. @@songsmith Maybe it's because I live in a rural area, but I have been unable to find many sample sizes to try locally. GNC is great about letting you try &are turn. But that's a lot of time & hassle. Sample kits that I've ordered are usually minimum of $20-30 ($10-20 for the samplers and $7-12 for shipping...plus tax). All in all I've spent several hundred dollars. FYI, I posted my "reviews" in the Nutrition/Protein forum in case it might help others save a little time and money by narrowing down the number of things they have to try!) I did look at the few Toroni syrups available in my area but they are all sweetened with sucralose which doesn't seem to agree with me. I've purchased several Crystal Light type products to try, since they have aspartame or saccharine, both of which I find preferable in taste and don't disagree with my GI system. Can't wait to be past the protein shakes stage 'cause it's all toxic fake food as far as I'm concerned!! The good news is, I have finally found two that work for me! 1. Muscle Milk Naturals chocolate actually tastes nice; not overly sweet and almost no artificial sweetener or better stevia taste. It is higher in carbs (10) than my NUT wanted (6) but below her absolute max (11). It has the standard protein-powder texture which I don't mind, and it's very filling. it's lactose free and is a mixture of Proteins that includes whey isolate, which I like (I know there's a lot of buzz about whey isolates being the "best" but I haven't seen any scientific evidence if this. Until I do, I like mixtures because that's more the way things occur in nature) 2. Jay Robb Whey Protein chocolate is a little too sweet for me, but not much, and amazingly does not have the horrible bitter taste that usually attends stevia-sweetened products. And it has this really creamy, milk-chocolate flavor that I love. At only 1 carb per serving, it makes my NUT happy. It's very smooth, too, for those who don't like the "protein powder" texture. 10 vs Try Nashua Nutrition online (spelling may be off). They will sell you a sample of anything they carry for $2 I live in a rural area too and have the same problems
  16. That's one that snuck up on my in a very real way! I was reading the label of something at costco and discussing fat and sugar grams with a woman who was doing the same and she said "not that you have to worry about that" Mind blown!

    what's your fat habit?

Yes! I do this with my cell phone all the time!

    Drinking alcohol

Every doc has different rules. I've heard many people on this forum say their doc says six months, a year... Some say never. Mine said six weeks.

    Torani vs extracts

I get mine at a local restaurant supply store. $5.99/bottle or if you buy four its $4.50/bottle.

    Maintaining on lower fat

Can you try drinking more calories? Orange juice has a lot of vitamins along with the sugar. Nonfat or 1% milk. You could even throw that protein powder you put in your coffee into milk instead. A cup of nonfat is 70 calories and 1% is 90.
  23. That the cookie/chocolate bar/whatever will always be there tomorrow. I don't have to eat as if I would never have the opportunity again. Even Christmas, thanksgiving, those Easter Cadbury eggs, Starbucks Eggnog latte... They will be available to me again and again.

I think you're missing what we are saying (or at least what I am saying). I'm saying my thighs still have a lot of lose skin, but I wear a bikini ANYWAY. And with the tummy tuck I look pretty dang good. Especially for my age. No ones body is perfect. Look next time you go to the pool/beach/lake and you will be surprised who confidently wears a bikini!

I did bromelain, arnica and turmeric for healing and inflammation. I think it helped! Got them all at Vitamin Shoppe.
