    Getting enough calories

Okay so milk and protein powder? That's liquid. Shouldn't cause dumping.

    Getting enough calories

What about drinking your calories? All those things we shouldn't do in the losing phase. Full fat milk. Smoothies from Jamba Juice (or homemade of course, but with the fruit and such).
  3. Wow!! looks amazing already! Hope your recovery continues smoothly!

    First Official 5k Run

Couch to 5k is awesome!!! Started it just about two years ago (1 month post op) and ran a full marathon last May and am training for my second (lots of 5k's, 10k's and half marathons in the books too!). I did my first 5k race in April of '14 which was four months after I started couch to 5k!

    Working out

Huh... Yeah as the poster above said calorie burn seems a bit high... But I guess it's possible! Good for you then ???? Do consult with your program and see what they say, but I never ate back calories in full... Just an extra 100-200 if I felt I needed it, but otherwise exercise calories were a bonus to the weight loss for me!

    Working out

First of all note that those calorie counts given by machines are notoriously inaccurate! Running or walking a mile generally burns only 100 calories (running burns it in less time). I never ate back my exercise calories until I got close to goal/maintenance. Sometimes I would add an extra 100-200 calories, but never the full amount. What does your program/Doctor/nutritionist recommend?
  7. Yes and no (thank goodness!). I was post menopause by about a year and warned my period might come back but thank goodness it didn't! Didn't want one in college and one in diapers at the same time!

  9. Oh and I love to dip my bananas in Peanut Butter... Or slice lengthwise the night before and spread peanut butter in between halves like a sandwich and then freeze and eat in the am! I used to love frozen chocolate dipped bananas and this is a good substitute I use no sugar added natural peanut putter, Laura Scudders brand typically.
  10. Thank you so much for sharing your practices and options for carb replacement with me! I knew that I could not be the only bariatric patient who travels long distances for exercise... My races are next month...so I will begin to try some of your suggestions this week. I also use oatmeal for carbs before the race! And love a banana afterward! Some oatmeal ideas I love--- If I am in a hurry I use PLAIN instant oatmeal and mix in half a scoop of Protein powder (my favorite is Syntrax Matrix PB cookie) or some PB2. Overnight oats--in a small mason jar I mix about 1/4c (I use a protein powder scoop so however much that is) steel cut oats, some flavor--protein powder or pumpkin purée or berries or Greek yogurt or SF torani syrup or a mix of these--then some liquid--coconut milk, almond milk, fair life milk--maybe a few nuts on top or shredded unsweetened coconut. Then close the lid and shake. Set in fridge overnight. They keep for 2-3 days.

    Could You Repeat That Order?

Love chick fil a grilled nuggets!!! I also order a "side" of a grilled chicken breast many places and they are always great with it. My new favorite is to eat the insides of a chicken fajita pita from jack in the box (or about half of them). I don't order it without the pita because it's easier to eat with a fork out of the pita.

    Bras post lift

I had implant with my lift but that's the same bra they gave me. As for down the road, I love my wacoal bras...they are pricey, but once you know what size you wear and what style you like you can often find previous seasons new at Ross/TJMaxx/Marshalls and also on eBay.

    Fairlife Milk

Yeah sounds puzzling to me. Studies show we actually absorb more Calcium from food sources than supplements anyhow.
  14. Oh wow! Mine said a couple of weeks and that we should wait till the end of race season!!! Interesting! I think mine is just concerned that the scar be minimal so doesn't want any tension on it.
  15. Let me know how it goes!! I have to have the same thing done and keep putting it off! Mostly because I don't want to take more time off running!

    Salmon Recipes Please!

I would love to know how to smoke salmon without a smoker! Please do share! While the results would differ slightly, you can smoke it on a grill or even in the oven. I have a smoker so its a little easier for me. I would suggest the grill if you don't have a smoker. You can turn on one or two burners and get the internal temp around 200-225, try to stay below 250. Then you need some wood chips and a wood chip box, like this one http://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber-Stainless-Steel-Smoker-Box-7576/203124250?cm_mmc=Shopping%7CTHD%7CG%7C0%7CG-BASE-PLA-D28I-Grills%7C&gclid=CImDtqjVkMoCFQgKaQodG68AGQ&gclsrc=aw.ds You'll need about 2 hours for it to cook. I am using a recipe that you make a slurry out of pickling salt, brown sugar and crab boil seasoning and a little Water to mix it all up. You let it sit covered in that slurry sealed in plastic wrap, overnight, then wipe off the slurry and let it sit on your counter, with a fan on it for an hour to 2 hours, till it is sticky to the touch. Then you can smoke it. Its tedious, and there are a few places I have bought some that is outstanding. Its expensive because of how much time goes into it, but it is so worth it. Thanks! I typically buy it smoked already but love all smoked meats so I've been wanting to learn how to do it myself

  18. I miss occasional carbonation. Not sodas (which surprises me I was a Diet Pepsi addict!) but an occasional beer. And I'd love to try a Moscow Mule, LOL, but carbonation does a number on me. I echo what @@CowgirlJane said. I don't miss sitting on the sidelines of life. I participate fully in my life now, and my kids lives, in a way I hadn't before!
  19. @@Stevehud, love that sentence, so true Yes. Many times yes. I was speaking about this to a friend yesterday who has never struggled with more than about 20lbs to lose and she was floored. For me it's a chicken/egg thing. Yes I was treated differently because of my weight, and it affected my confidence which affected how I relate in situations which in turn affected again how I was treated ad infinitum.
  20. For @@Djmohr also Just a tip about the boney butt thing--I had the same issues till a physical therapist helped me improve my sitting posture. I was used to sitting back on my cushy butt but skinny people maintain the curve in their lumbar area and sit on the "sitz bones" as some call them--basically the back of the thighs more than the butt. To feel it, sit and over exaggerate the arch of your back and feel what you are then sitting on. Meant a WORLD of difference to me!

    Slightly off the rails

I had a plan simile to Kindle. I decided to indulge. I prepared and dropped a few extra pounds first, gained that and another two and my always normal weight friend said "welcome to a normal holiday season." Now I am back on plan (and subbing a few meals with Protein shakes) and confident I will be back to "fighting weight" in a couple of weeks! It's part of life!
  22. Oooh that sounds good! I'm gonna have to try that!

    Fairlife Milk

Talk to your doc/nutritionist/dietician but why not? I would assume you could count that. Mine all prefer me to get calcium from food if possible.

I have been to gym everyday and still in stall!

While I agree with most of what you're saying--and I was a workout on an empty stomach person too before I got to goal--I will say that marathon running (even half marathon running) is a bit different because of the speed and duration of calorie burn. Most people will deplete their glycogen stores and not be able to convert fat to glycogen quickly enough to fuel the sustained effort that that level of distance running requires. 5k, 10k sure! But most overweight people burn more than 150 calories per mile (normal weight people about 100 calories per mile) so 1300-2600 calories worth of fuel is just not available to them from their fat stores over the 2-5+ hours that distance will take them to finish. Do you need to fuel before a distance event? Maybe not. But most people will need to fuel during or they will hit a wall. And for peak performance (which may not be what they are arriving for) you would need to fuel beforehand too. 100cal per half hour or so is plenty though!
