  1. Addicted to serial! are you following Adnans PCR hearing? Im sorry, let me correct myself, I love Serial season 1 and Undisclosed. Season 2.....eh, not capturing my attention. Yes!!! And I haven't started season 2, the topic is not calling to me.

    Dealing with excess skin

Stretch marks are caused by the skin expanding quickly. They aren't caused by the loss. They may become more noticeable after the loss.
  3. Another mother runner The tobolowsky files (not recording anymore but loved it and you can still hear the old ones) Serial and Undisclosed

So is sip, sip, sip forever?

I can drink normally now. I can even gulp. Now I can't gulp down a whole 16oz bottle, but I can gulp half of one.

    Dealing with excess skin

As a 20 something you have less to worry about because your skin still has more elasticity. That said, except for weight training to "fill out" the skin the rest is up to genetics, age, the length of time you were overweight, how many times you've yo yo'ed and time. When you are done losing the skin will continue to shrink for some time (especially if you lost fast, if you lose slower it will shrink more all along... The net amount it shrinks will still be the same). The lose skin isn't fun, but it's a damn sight better than the alternative.

    Transfer Addiction: Fashion

I've slowly expanded from maybe 1/4 of our walk in closet to 3/4 plus two extra dressers. I keep telling my husband he should just move his stuff out and let me have the whole thing!

    Distance Running

So last year I may have said "never again" but like childbirth pain, apparently you forget marathon pain! I signed up for my second for Memorial Day weekend. Same one I ran last year--my sister talked me into it. It will be her first (she's lost 80lbs without surgery and kept it off over 5 years!) and I will earn my "s." (As I "I run marathonS" lol). Any other distance runners currently training for a race? I have a few half marathons and ragnars on the way to May 28th and then the main event. Would love to swap stories!

    Distance Running

The day before? Honestly I don't! I eat whatever I'd normally eat! You typically burn 100 calories per mile so you don't really need a LOT of extra food. Day of if I will be running longer than an hour (6+ miles usually) I will eat a bit higher in carbs than usual--oatmeal with Protein powder in it or a small banana with Peanut Butter. My goal is about 200 calories. Then if it's a race or a really long run (10 miles or more) I will often drink juice--I like evolution brand with fruits and veggies and sometimes coconut Water. Then I try to take in 100 calories at 30-40 minutes and then every half hour after that. Sometimes that's purchased runners fuel--gu's or gels--or more often the more whole food ones like bonk breakers or honey stinger waffles. I can't typically eat it all at once so I do it but by bit. Sometimes I use fruit pouches marketed to kids, sometimes I make my own date/nut/dried fruit balls or use the Lara bars that are just those. Sometimes I use peanut butter pretzels. I typically drink NUUN on a run but if I'm worried about getting enough calories I will do Fluid or something with sugar. Then after I refuel with protein and carbs--often a higher carb Protein shake like BSN Syntha 6. Sometimes I have geek yogurt with granola or pretzels (I usually need some salt) or I save my peanut butter and banana for after.
  9. I am 5'6" and 46. Started at 271 ended at 135 and size 4. Never dreamed I would go that low. Part of it is sizing has changed. When I put on the size 12 dress I wore to leave my wedding 20 years ago, it's maybe two sizes too big, not four. So you may be surprised. I also work out a lot. Run aprox 20 miles a week and do yoga classes 3-4 times per week and TRX a couple times a week.
  10. I agree. But now that I'm in maintenance and marathon training again I work with a higher carb allowance.
  11. I had TT with muscle repair, brachioplasty and lift with augmentation all at the same time last June. I'm on my way to yoga so I will post more details and pix later but it was definitely do able and my recovery wasn't bad at all honestly. I had no liposuction (didn't need it) so I'm told that's part of why I had an easier recovery AND was able to have so much done at once. Mine was done outpatient believe it or not!
  12. They listened and changed. I got free samples of the new formula and they taste like the old ones! They still have the corn Fiber but they claim they won't produce the side effects the first corn fiber formula did-- https://www.facebook.com/QuestNutrition/posts/1102553853117988:0
  13. Sounds interesting! Where do you get them and how many carbs? You can get them at Vitamin Shop, but if you like them it is cheaper to order online. The chocolate is my favorite and it has net 15g carbs (http://www.flapjacked.com/collections/mighty-muffins/products/double-chocolate-mighty-muffin-1) Awesome! Thanks, I ordered the sample pack. Not sure I would have gone for the 15 carbs doing the losing phase, but I'm in maintenance and they look great for that!
  14. Everyone's different and you need to figure out what works for you. Quest bars only have about 5g of net carbs if you use that measure (subtract Fiber and sugar alcohols). If you don't they are about 25g. I use them all the time in maintenance didn't use as much during loss

    New Quest Bar formula--again

What flavor? Cookie dough always seemed too sweet for me and a couple of the others. My apple pie was great! Cinnamon roll tomorrow Sadly the protein mug cakes don't go well in my purse or glove compartment! It was cinnamon roll. I'm going to try apple pie today. Yeah had the cinnamon roll one this morning and it was definitely sweeter. Lemme know what you think of the Apple Pie! That and the vanilla almond have always been my favorites.

    Spleen Pain?

Google gallbladder pain/gallstones that is really common wth weight loss and located right in there also. And often gallbladder pain can refer elsewhere too--mine was primarily in my back when I had attacks.

    Comments from only one sex

In my experience men aren't as observant either. Heck I have to tell hubby I've gotten a haircut when I hack 5" off! Just another thought

    Anthem Blue Cross California

I had my surgery through them but it was late 2013. I didn't have to do any diet just provide evidence of past attempts (my GP did that but if you have weight watchers records or something like that it would have worked too).

Ack! Only Starbucks for the weekend

A cappuccino is(or at least should be) shots of espresso with half steamed milk, half foam...the flat white is the shots of espresso(pulled what's called ristretto style so they pull differently than regular shots) and it does have more milk. The milk is foamed but instead of free pouring to get that half milk/half foam, it is poured in a slow stream with a dollop of foam on top. The milk is steamed to be denser than a cappuccino's milk. Hope that helps clarify a bit. So the extra calories/carbs/etc are just because it has more milk then basically, right?

    Maybe a silly question....

I asked because I had seen posts (not acrylics but nail polish). My doc said no problem. Just ask they'll tell you their particular requirements. All docs are different.

    interesting travel question

I went to Disneyland even earlier out that that. Just plan ahead and pack what you need and you will be ok! You might need to stop and rest more often than normal, but part of it is enjoying the atmosphere and taking it all in! I was on "any food you can tolerate" by six weeks, but it was helpful to not have to worry about whether a food would sit well so I packed a lot of my favorites to take along.
  24. Sounds interesting! Where do you get them and how many carbs?
