    Same Veggies as Before?

I haven't had any problem craving things I can't have, I rarely crave anything. Veggies--takes a while to be able to tolerate them unless they are cooked VERY well. I was back to most veggies but about six months but lettuces took a bit longer and I still can't do cruciferous veggies (broccoli and cauliflower especially) unless they are cooked very well. Can only tolerate a very small amount of raw carrots. Oh and skins of things like cucumbers and apples took a long time too like 9-12 months but I can eat them now.

    Protein

If you get enough protein from food no need to supplement.

Bra math - don't try this at home.

True bra math-- Cup size is relative to band size not absolute. It's the number of inches of projection past the band size. 1" is an A cup 2" is a B cup 3" is a C cup And so on and so forth. So if you have a 32DD (that's my size) your chest is only 36". My husband keeps saying no way am I a DD but I am! As your band size goes down your cup size may go up--even if it's just filled out by empty socks as mine were before my implants and lift! In fact my pre lift/implant size and my post bra size are almost identical! And yeah... As I was losing I bought ONE bra at a time LOL
  5. Yes. Been married 20 years... I was 165ish and quite curvy when we met and married. Gained with my kids and topped out at 271. I am now a muscular and kinda boney 135. He wishes I would put back on another 20 pounds or so (he actually throws out the 165 figure even though I'm not really sure he knows that was my weight at the time). It's not a deal breaker and my breast lift/implants helped... He loves and supports me whatever weight I am, but if he had his preference I would gain about 30lbs back in my butt and boobs (if only we could tell those pounds where to go!)
  6. Training for my second marathon on Memorial Day. Have two half marathons and a couple of 10k trail and road races in between now and then and a Triathlon in July (just got a new bike!) and a trail half marathon in September. Oh and almost forgot-- a road Ragnar in March and a trail Ragnar in July!

    Spices, Seasonings, Herbs, and Condiments

I think I have six different varieties of mustard in my fridge!!!! My other go to is balsamic vinegar "glaze" from Trader Joe's (basically reduced balsamic vinegar without the work). Love me some Sriracha too!

    Mediterranean Style Eating

Like most have said I'm all for posting all kinds of opinions I just dislike using loaded language. I am high Protein low refined carb and am healthier than I've ever been--age 47 and running marathons and at 18% body fat. I think a smattering of health problem postings isn't enough to make a generalization about people who follow that eating plan. I'm glad eating that way works for you, but please don't paint such broad strokes about doctors or those of us who eat that way. Also, I'm a big fan of learning to listen to your body, but I don't think many of us can hear it early out or even in the first year or two. If we could we probably wouldn't have ended up obese. I would recommend starting by following an eating plan recommended by a doctor or nutritionist your trust (and that may be one you find in a book or online not your surgeon or their nut). Then very gradually you can try listening to your body. It whispers at first because it's used to being ignored. But eventually it speaks louder.

I'm 47 (45 and post menopause at surgery). Lost 135lbs in a year and have kept it off for over a year so far.

    Hernia repair

Had one fixed with mine and it didn't seem to make any difference. I was back to all my normal life activities a week out.

    SAY GOODBYE NOW!

Be careful! That's what I thought about size 8's. Now I'm in 4's.
  14. Everyone's surgeon has a different plan, but most require a liquid diet immediately following surgery while your stomach heals from being cut apart and stitched back together. For most it's a week or two of Clear liquids followed by a week or two of full liquids followed by a week or two of puréed or mushy food. Check with your doctor or nutritionist to see what they require. They all also have different permanent post op plans. But no carbonation is common. Protein first is almost universal with high protein requirements that are hard to meet without supplementation through shakes at first. Avoiding refined carbs and sugars is quite common. No coffee is common for a while post op, but usually not permanent, though some doctors feel the risk of stomach acid with coffee is too high with our limited surface area (you don't want to get ulcers) and ask you give it up completely. Check with your doctor.

They hurt my stomach post sleeve ???? but several of our members still drink them.

    Stretched Sleeve

Posted this on another more appropriate thread but in case you don't see it-- you don't need as much fuel for long runs as you'd think (done a dozen halfs and a full among other distances post sleeve). You burn aprox 100 calories per mile so even a half is only 1300 calories. Much of that you eat WHILE running (100 calories every half hour is the recommended goal). So if you run a three hour half that's 600 calories during the run itself. 200-300 before and then replenish after and you are fine!!!!!

    SAY GOODBYE NOW!

Love it! Mine is much simpler. I ask myself would I buy this TODAY. If not, out it goes!

    Super Bowl

Good job Sticking to your plan with all the temptations around! I'm one of those who became a total lightweight post op, but I've heard from some for whom alcohol didn't have the same effect.
  21. Post op no. But you were also talking about missing Pasta and lots of fruit. I was just reminding you that that continues post op. Personally I put vanilla Protein shake in my coffee for creamer and sweetener in one. If you don't tolerate artificial sweeteners and don't like stevia etc you will have to search to find a protein supplement you can tolerate as well. Good luck!
  22. Sounds interesting! Where do you get them and how many carbs? You can get them at Vitamin Shop, but if you like them it is cheaper to order online. The chocolate is my favorite and it has net 15g carbs (http://www.flapjacked.com/collections/mighty-muffins/products/double-chocolate-mighty-muffin-1)Awesome! Thanks, I ordered the sample pack. Not sure I would have gone for the 15 carbs doing the losing phase, but I'm in maintenance and they look great for that!I love cinnamon, so I add a little extra to the cinnamon apple one. It's my second favorite. Ok these are so good!!! I did the Peanut Butter one---YUM! Then my husband stole the s'mores one and my daughter the maple pumpkin one. I don't know if j will be able to keep them around.
  23. You need to make sure you're ready for this lifestyle change. Most plans include low sugar and refined carbs for the entire weight loss period and some forever. Ditto carbonation which many (myself included) cannot tolerate post sleeve. The good part? Sugar is very much like an addiction. After two weeks low/no sugar I stopped craving it. And post sleeve especially for the first year I didn't crave it at all. Now I can have it once in a while, but it's not a live or die thing like it used to be.
  24. Rice Carbonation Bread (anything doughy, crisp is ok) Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower) unless it's cooked completely
