Lol I’m right there with you!! I would risk it all Meh... Moe's is better, they actually have ground beef and, zero food poisoning issues. LOL Ground beef doesn’t belong in medical food. Psht! Bring on the sofritas and Barbacoa! Truth be told though I’ve never seen a Mo’s. I’d get rid of Del Taco. Ick

Did anyone else’s doctor tell them a pre-op diet is not necessary?
jess9395 replied to Elle_Woods's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nothing except for clear liquids starting noon the day before. I did just fine -
It’s a food that doesn’t make you feel full or trigger your restriction so you can eat it in much larger quantities. It’s an easy way to gain back your weight or keep you from losing.

Cheese-it’s! Or pretty much any cracker.

Most people hit a stall at 2-3 weeks, do a search on it and you will find you are in good company! Stay the course with your surgeons plan! -
Any "safe" Chinese food after sleeve?
jess9395 replied to ggpru's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you don’t mind Mediocre Chinese Panda Express has lots of low carb high protein options. Go to their website and look at the info! If you want better food use those dishes as a guide or starting off point! Lots of stir fry is pretty decent—low carb high protein with veggies! And most good places will adapt to your instructions! -
Here in California they are moving towards no plastic straws and even lids in lots of areas! Because of the environmental issues. We were at Knotts Berry Farm last week and they have no lids or straws anywhere unless you buy the reusable cup. Our local area keeps straws behind the counter and you must ask for them (local law, they will next eliminate them entirely). We were the first area to make disposable plastic bags illegal for grocery stores and the first smoking ban too.

Possible to be anorexic after gastric bypass?? Help...
jess9395 replied to countryrae2001's topic in Food and Nutrition
What Matt said. Anorexia is a mental disorder about control and anxiety that manifests itself in restricting. There are many online screening tools that can help if you are honest when you take them— https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/screening-tool But a therapist would probably be a help to you whether you are fully anorexic or “just” have issues surrounding eating and food. -
Is that part of your plan so early out? It wasn't on mine and I thought mine advanced pretty fast. I was on clear liquids for a week then full liquids for another. Eggs were allowed week three as part of the puree diet if they were scrambled. That said I couldn't tolerate them for months Here's the thing, at this point your stomach nerves have been cut so you can't FEEL things the way you should. So it's possible you just didn't feel your stomach rebelling.

That's something only your doctors can really answer. When I had my plastics I was able to have parathyroid surgery two weeks later. But I wasn't on severe calorie restriction at the time as you will be. This is quite major surgery and the recovery can be difficult, but a vasectomy is one of the most simple procedures so perhaps it might be Okay, especially if you are willing to do it without general anesthesia

Different doctors have different recommendations. You will need to figure out what your doctor's guidelines are.

Waist to height ratio is another valuable one health wise. You say "what would you do?" What is there to DO? Nothing you do will change either your weight or your current BMI. Is your life going to change based on that number today? Keep on your path and you will go to the same place wether your height is accurate or not. Now I will throw another curveball at you-- when I lost my 135+ lbs I lost half an inch in height from the bottom of my feet! YUP! Crazy, right? My surgeon says its not uncommon at all. It's also not uncommon to gain height because your posture gets better! So what I would "do" is not sweat the small stuff!

How many calories a day should I be eating?
jess9395 replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This, I always say you trusted your surgeon to cut you open, best to trust their diet advice! -
My doctor had us on Benefiber from the get go (soluble fiber, Metamucil is the same) but wanted us to wait four weeks before adding in the insoluble fiber (psyllium husks).

This too shall pass! Really. But I second what sideeye says... the protein is medicine. It doesn’t need to taste good. You just need to choke it down and move on! You’ve got this!

How many calories a day should I be eating?
jess9395 replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your surgeon give you an eating plan? They are really so different. One posters surgeon wants them at 1000 or 1200 as soon as possible, others say 600. Some say three meals no snacks, some say 6 small meals. Some count carbs some don’t. The plans are literally all over the map! -
Omg I just couldn’t post there but you made me laugh! I have to say after reading that thread I’m glad I have a sleeve!

Anyone else have problems eating eggs?
jess9395 replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh gosh eggs hurt me for months after surgery!!! It took about six month and then I could eat them. Keep trying every couple of weeks. Most likely eventually you will do fine! -
YOU get a muffin and YOU get a muffin and YOU get a muffin!!!

Omg I just discovered the points thing a week ago! Those peanut butter crack cookies! And salted caramel calcium chews!

I was doing them all day today. And I honestly don’t mean to sound superior. I literally just don’t waste the mental energy on mean people (which is what the people who don’t listen to you when you ask them not to pray for you are). An intellectual debate I like and spend time on. I just don’t wast emotional energy on feeling angry or upset or offended, that’s all. I don’t like letting mean people have that kind of power over me. I honestly don’t mean it to be superior, just trying to share that old thought of “don’t let the turkeys get you down.”

Ditto on the protein shake! Two for one!
