Thank you! And I am, generally, a very happy person and even more so now. I always say my goal when I run a race is to finish, secondly to finish RUNNING (as opposed to walking) and third to finish smiling, everything else is bonus. So far I've met that goal every time.

Anybody use a Powerplate for Toning?

I love my TENS machine... My physical therapist used it while rehabbing my wrist after wrist surgery and I had to get my own. My daughter (who has arthritis) and I fight over it now! So color me intrigued! Would love to hear your report. No way can I afford one so I will just watch from afar!

    Post your progress pics

@@KristenLe and @@Mudgy6 I run. A LOT. Just finished my second marathon and typically run 20-30 miles a week. I also do high intensity yoga, vinyasa and Ashtanga, about five hours a week. BUT, lemme tell ya pre op and even as far back as high school I was a couch potato to the nth degree. The one who walked in PE class when everyone else ran. About a month out I started Couch to 5k and three months out started yoga and haven't looked back.

Thank you! I honestly wasn't fishing just wanting to show that I'm not a waif. And now today I am bout 13lbs heavier than that pic (which was actually taken 1.5 weeks post plastics so there is a bit of water retention in them still).

We should def get an accountability group going for vets! I would love that. And Ashtanga!!! I was drug kicking and screaming from my safe Vinyasa world by my sister and my favorite teacher! It kicks my butt, but I love it! Twice a week most weeks and then my beloved Vinyasa the rest of the week. I only do the first series and my teacher is amazing and helps me reach some of those binds. But I see growth every time.

    Love that real 154 picture!!!!

I think it also depends on the build of the person i am 5'7 and have a muscular build.... i look sick, gaunt and just unhealthy if i go below 154. BMI is not an absolute.... there are too many variables.... height, build, body type, race, muscle mass etc plays a larger role. Eg. You could have 2 people who are the same weight and height and they look completely different.. what may look healthy on one of them can look different on the other Yes absolutely! Check out this site it's a good reference for that kind of thing: Www.mybodygallery.com I think I look healthy and fit and athletic. Here I am at 135. My body fat here is at the 17% level. My surgeon had a photo shoot done and I am in their promotional material (once and for all blew my anonymity as far as not disclosing my WLS)

I need to change that, I'm really only 5'6". I know that's not a huge difference, but it was a weird revelation to me! I always thought I was 5'7" and when I started this process they kept measuring me at 5'6.5" or even 5'6". I thought what the heck, I guess I've just been rounding up to make myself feel better? And by the end of the journey (weight lost from the pads of my feet?) I was a solid 5'6". But that said, I do think hard about the issues you raise, so I appreciate the feedback. I continue to be strong and fit and am at 135 as well, so I will keep and eye on things for sure. Thank you!

I typically have one protein supplement a day as well, Either a shake a quest or power crunch bar or a mug "cake" from a scoop of protein powder plus baking soda and liquid. I have trouble meeting my protein needs without it

Right?!? When I started this journey I thought I would be thrilled to get to 165 where I had been comfortable before and 155 (the lightest I had even been as an adult and where I had worn bikinis) was a pipe dream! Which is exactly why I wanted a reality check about whether it was crazy of me to want to get back down to 135! Good luck to you on your fast day! Lemme know how it goes! I tried on wedding dresses this weekend and it has a huge shocker. I know wedding dresses run small but crap! I was in a 0 or 2 now I am in 4s. So I was expecting my wedding dress size to be a 6 or 8. She said I was a damn 12-14!!! I was pissed to be in double digits. So I know I felt better at 135 and I am only 5'4.75" so I think it is not that far off. It's a whole different sizing system, don't fret it! No one sees the size tag you will be a beautiful bride!

  12. Wow! I would hate that. I met with my surgeon first appointment before I'd even decided. Then again when I decided to start pre op process, then twice more before surgery day.

    Breast size

Mine totally deflated. Never dreamed I would get implants after spending most of my life a G-ish cup (anywhere from 36G to 42DDD over the years). Plastics restored me to a 32DD/DDD.
  14. No regrets at all except not doing it sooner. First weeks can be tough!! Hang in there, it keeps getting better
  15. Two weeks. Two weeks is the answer for everything from how long is my pre op diet to how long do I have to do purée food to how long till I feel normal. Kidding. Sort of. It will get better little by latte after about the first three days which are hard! Hang in there!

Thanks for chiming in all! Would love to hear even more from others already doing it or a form of it! @oakparklorena @@Wolfgirl78 and @@CBT would love to discuss more and perhaps start an accountability group for anyone trying a form of modified intermittent fasting! I tried my first day yesterday and what it looked like for me was an 8 hour window (slightly less actually) from 12:30pm-7:15pm where I are just over 700 calories EXTREMELY low carb. Included one Protein shake in there for the first meal (can't really call it Breakfast I suppose?). I can typically maintain well on 1800-2000 calories a day (yeah I'm lucky but lots of running and yoga helps!) so this was a big cut from my typical daily calories. I did a three mile run in the morning fasted and didn't seem to notice any problems with my energy level. We shall see if my energy level is down on today's run the day AFTER the 700 calorie day. @oakparklorena thank you for those links! My understanding is intermittent fasting started because they noticed that societies that did fast (for food supply issues perhaps? Can't remember) actually lived longer so 5/2 was supposed to increase longevity. Of course the study was correlational so the fasting could not be the cause of the longevity it could be a different external factor, but that's how it got started. Yeah I'm sure I could attain the same results by eating 1000-1200 calories daily instead of my 1800 and then two days of 700, but I think this is more achievable for me. I've dropped and regained 5 several times since January by deciding to just go back to 1000-1200 calories a day and then stopped. I like eating 1800, LOL! If I had a lot of regain to drop I might want a different approach, but it's basically 10-15lbs (like I said I keep losing and gaining 5) I gained over the holidays and now that it's summer I've chosen to drop (vanity as I said--bikinis and crop tops and bodycon tanks and dresses). I feel like for that amount intermittent fasting is completely do able! @@VSGAnn2014 I am gonna do more research and if I find some good links will definitely share @@erp I do eat low carb/moderate fat/high protein as a rule. I don't eat Pasta, bread, rice, etc at all anymore. But I don't eat low enough for ketosis. My understanding is you have to do that all the time 24/7 right? I may decide to do that if this doesn't work, but since I don't have much regain to deal with I don't want to go that extreme at this point. I have let more carbs back into my daily diet in the form of fruits and oatmeal and the occasional "treat" (and yeah I do mean real treat like fig Newton Cookies or some crackers or even Fritos!) and am definitely cutting those on both my fast days and my non fast days. Can you explain to me what you mean by focusing on recomposition? (My dang autocorrect keeps wanting to tell me I mean decomposition!). Do you mean my diet or my body composition? When I last had my body fat done (DXA scan--just before this gain) I was at 17%, athletic for a female. My activity level hasn't changed so I really believe other than this extra 10-15 my underlying composition is similar. I didn't mention that I also do hard yoga--vinyasa and Asthanga--about 4-5 hours a week. It's body weight, so not exactly resistance training but I am very happy with the muscles I have (yay yoga arms!) and between that and my running I'm putting in about 10 hours a week (more when marathon training) exercising which is about my limit. If it's diet recomposition I would love to hear more input! Yesterday on my fast day I was at 58% protein (101g), 14% carbs (22g) and 30% fat (23g). How does that look? Finally no one has touched on whether or not I should lose those last vanity pounds. Honestly it's a matter of I'd like to revisit seeing my ribs and hip bones more clearly. Is that ok? I just have gained a bit of "softness" there that I prefer not to have over my bones and muscles. (To be completely honest, my husband prefers this to how I was "boney" before and I don't want to tell him I am trying to lose it again!) I am very conscious of another member of our community who took things too far and wound up in treatment for anorexia. I don't THINK that's what I am doing here, but want a reality check which I seem to remember her getting and ignoring. Please, give it to me straight, I can handle it!!!
  17. I took all my vitamins, took biotin and keratin and fish oil and got all my protein in and lost hair. And lost it with other surgery too. I think there are multiple things happening--look up telogen effluvium that is the cause of a lot of post op hair loss and can happen despite adequate nutrition.

    Body jewelry....

I was allowed nail polish and contact lenses (I sleep in them on a regular basis) but nothing metal.Hmmm I guess every surgeon is different. Sent from my SM-G360P using the BariatricPal App In every way! I won't even get started on different pre op diets, post op stages, etc. the only thing these docs often have in common is that they are different!

  21. I had my gallbladder out about a year before surgery. Lost hair. WLS lost hair. A year post op had two wrist surgeries and then another six months after that plastics. Strangely for whatever reason did not lose hair after those two so, who knows!
  22. See now I love buffets... I look at them differently. Since I can literally put one bite of like 10 different things I look at it as paying for the choice of variety! Normally I can only chose one thing or even no things (I usually eat off my kids and husbands plate).
  23. Late to the party but hardest for me is loosing the "sexiness" of loosing! Loosing is AWESOME--motivating as hell, new victories all the time. Life changing ones! Then is real life--maintenance. And it's boring as hell.

I'm late to the party but I agree.... Restricted posting but all can read. 18 months is great. Now I just have to bookmark it because otherwise it's really hard to find subforums on the iPhone app!

    Any Cross Fitters?

Like you I run and do yoga and also some biking/swimming for triathlons. My sister does cross fit and so I've tried it with her a few times and really enjoyed it. But it's definitely not all about heavy lifting... Lots of body weight exercises and such (box jumps, burpees, etc) and you can do a lot of WODs where there's no heavy lifting. I would do more but I just can't fit it in... Cost wise (I'd have to give up or cut back on yoga classes) or time wise (heavy running schedule for races this year). Definitely find the right "tribe" one that doesn't encourage and Celebrate a culture of no pain no gain and pushing past limits. Fine one where they emphasize safety! They exist but many crossfit places go overboard and people get injured.
