Genepro Unflavored Protein
jess9395 replied to KristenLe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The biggest one is that they claim 30g of Protein from 15g of product and since grams are a weight measure, not quite sure how that happens. Read this thread or do a search http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/372406-genepro-too-good-to-be-true/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

60-70% is the average so there are people on both sides. I lost 100% so someone else out there only lost 30%. You get out of it what you put in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

There's another poster on here (@Jamielogical) who refers to her surgery as weight MAINTENANCE surgery. I have lost 50-100lbs several times over the course of my life. I hit a low and immediately rebound with a few extra lbs to show for it. This time I lost 136lbs and have maintained for almost two years. Could I lose without the surgery? Sure. Could not keep it off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Stomach growling a lot today
jess9395 replied to wyndy1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah my stomach talks to me all the time, loudly. And it's not a hunger thing. Sometimes it's digesting sometimes it's just talking. I'm three years out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Omg so trying these!

I like that food doesn't have the same draw/hold over me!
-
Yes! Totally! I'm almost three year out and it has come back to a certain extent, but not completely. About a year out it came back about 20% and then just recently another 30% maybe but still dampened about 50% from pre op!

Slowing weight loss on purpose?
jess9395 replied to RJrocks's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
There are scientific studies that outweigh your opinion, LOL! It maybe true for you, but I lost hair after my gallbladder surgery and after a kidney surgery in addition to my WLS and Plastics.Telogen Effluvium is a real scientific thing. Doctors have studied it. Just because it doesn't happen to YOU does not mean hair loss doesn't happen with anesthesia. I said IMHO, so did it look like I was claiming to be an expert? No but your statement was stated as factual even though you said opinion. "Anesthesia does not cause hair loss" is a factual statement even if preceded by "in my opinion." If you'd said "anesthesia didn't cause hair loss in my case" that would have been fine, but you stated it as a global--it DOESN'T cause hair loss. An opinion would be green is an ugly color or chocolate is gross. Green is blue plus yellow or chocolate contains cocoa bean are statements of fact. Forgive me, but I am a stickler for accuracy... I'm a scientific method/research design/statistics nerd. I have a degree in it. -

Telogen Effluvium hair loss from surgery/anesthesia itself. Though I'm sure nutrition can have an impact as well, some of the hair loss is unavoidable. Ditto skin. If you lose faster it doesn't shrink back as quickly as you lose, but will catch up to the degree it was going to after you stop. Fast loss didn't slow my metabolism, so I don't know about the premise in your opening statement. I have seen mixed things on that, some articles say yes some no and I have seen no empirical research that it's a given. -
When can I have peanut butter?!?!
jess9395 replied to jwidner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat real natural Peanut Butter myself, with just peanuts nothing added. PB2 has added sugar. and I eat it with a spoon! But I second the PB Protein shake suggestion! Syntax Matrix PB Cookie is the BOMB!!!!! Quest is a good second. Almost three years out and at goal for two years and I still drink my Matrix PB Cookie! And make protein mug cakes from it too... search for the recipe! -
Absolutely!!!!!! I've run marathons and do yoga daily... and I have very few limits these days. I did a spartan race and could do it all!
