Yeah it can be reversed with diet and exercise and losing weight. All of which I've done in spades. Can't lose any more or eat any fewer carbs or run any more miles. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I do that all the time, the amount I eat is irrelevant. I'm sure you will too Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Yes just all around bloodwork but a but more thorough because it was pre op clearance for another endocrine surgery (parathyroid) so I guess they wanted to look at all endocrine systems, did thyroid levels too and those were fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Nope it's air. Carbonation stretching the sleeve is a myth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thank you yeah I'm gonna try and get a referral to an endocrinologist for sure. My endocrine surgeon doesn't do anything but the surgery but I'm sure they will refer me to one they work with. I do have a family history though in that my obese dad is type 2 and insulin dependent. No gestational diabeties. Sigh.... why do I always get more info from internet strangers than my GP? Thank you! Gah! I watch my carbs. I haven't had bread or Pasta or rice in years. Very little fruit. I'm very low carb. That's what's so frustrating. All the doc said was diet and exercises. I run marathons! Thank you just frustrating that my 270lb fat ass was never in the position but my 135lb marathon running 17% body fat ass is! And I don't want to wait till March for another test. This test was in October. Why does everything take so long! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks all this is all super confusing to me, I get that the A1C is an average blood glucose now and that therefore it's likely actually more reliable than just the one glucose number. Mine is 5.8 and they said 5.7 is the max so it's just barely into the danger zone. No no gestational diabeties I have no idea why they decided to check my A1C. @shelterdogs is that a known thing? She shrugged like sorta "who knows maybe it's that" and these are my numbers from before surgery/my pre op clearance (which was about six weeks ago--this is how long our local managed care takes to follow up these days!). She didn't seem to know just shrugging me off. I think I'm going to ask my endocrine surgeon for a referral to an endocrinologist at UCLA where I saw him and get to the bottom of this. My liver is also currently suspect-enzymes are just barely off and they found a lesion but are pretty convinced it's a benign hemangioma. Dangit I feel like I was actually healthier before surgery and weight loss! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well ya don't need to stretch your sleeve for that. Which is good as they don't stretch. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Well I guess what they mean is you are at risk for diabeties, your numbers aren't diabetic but they are higher than normal. At least that's what the link you posted says. I guess I just don't know what my course of action is because I eat what they say you should eat already. I lost all my excess weight. I exercise a lot. What more can I do? And what happens next? My doc has ordered repeat testing of blood sugar and A1C. For what it's worth my blood sugar is high normal it's my A1C that is in the danger (high risk?) but not diabetic range. I hate health insurance companies - little bit off topic
jess9395 replied to busybeebug's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can totally relate! In the last three years our premiums have tripled and our deductible went from 0 to $100/person to $1000 person and we went from a small copay to 20% coinsurance. I know others have it much worse, but sucks when DH was told "free medical for life" when he hired on at company 30+ years ago! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

It goes OVER the bra! I don't understand. They're going to pull it down and take everything off anyway. Why bother at all? I at least entertained my husband singing, "I feel pretty, oh so pretty...." from West Side Story. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh! Lol, yeah I don't see the point ha ha! Oh and Lisa-- the science has shown that carb loading really isn't as beneficial as once believed even for non Bariatric athletes. The runners I know who are serious don't do it and those I know who do do it just laugh and use it as an excuse to eat pizza and beer! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh and the one thing you need to be careful with with dried fruit is if you use it during a race it might cause issues because the high Fiber content means it needs more blood to your stomach to digest it but if all your blood is keeping your legs moving it could upset your stomach. That's why runners use the quick carbs like the gu, really easy to digest. Experiment and see what works for you! Yeah if I'm going out for anything less than an hour I don't typically worry about bringing fuel unless it's a race and I want to perform at my best. My biggest fueling issue is towards the end of a race I don't want to eat ANYTHING ! I have a few things I know I can choke down that won't make me barf (citrus flavored gu, sports bean by jelly belly) but it's a struggle. Especially on the full marathons. But I know if I don't do it I will hit the wall. Would love to hear what the sports nut says! I've based what I do on reading and talking with non Bariatric athletes.
