    Differences in Plans

I'm sure that's the case with some... that's why you need to research and find a surgeon you trust. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Differences in Plans

It's because there aren't a lot of scientific studies about what plan works best so each doctor is making their own educated guess based on the small amount of actual research and their own experience and that of their colleagues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tummy Tuck?

I had one. My insurance had a specific requirement--pannus had to hang past the pubic bone. Mine didn't so I paid. Totally worth it... I have my old car and a new body! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tummy Tuck

Some insurance companies cover it f it affects your health or mobility, some have specific criteria--e.g. Mine said the pannus had to pass your pubic bone, others have clauses that exclude it in all cases. You have to check your specific policy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone do Bone Broth?

They carry those ones you posted up top at a local health food store I frequent and they always have samples available. I've tried the banana (really tasty and banana isn't even a favorite flavor of mine) and the "green" flavored one which was more savory. The texture on them was great too. I'm intrigued with the Apple one and the tumeric. I keep hoping they will be sampling them! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Baby products actually work?

I know the mineral content of our well Water still sits poorly with me three years out. I do bottled water even though my family loves the well water so minerals can make a difference Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Quest Bars

They affect different people differently. I are them throughout my loss and never had issues with them being sliders or stalling. But your mileage may vary. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss?

For some people yes. Telogen effluvium. Has to do with the growth phase the hair is in at the time of surgery. I lose it about 6 months post op with any surgery and I was on top of Protein and Vitamins. It grows back though and much faster if you are up on the protein and vitamins! Quest Bars

Eventually yes! I go through phases where I eat them frequently. I could eat them maybe three months post op and would only eat a half. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Is this normal bruising?

I had blood thinner injections and it make me bruise like that. If you aren't on blood thinner then call your doc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Marathon Runners?

Interesting on the fat with vitamins! Thanks for sharing that. I LOVE Nuun and use it all the time. Be careful, my sleeve can't handle Chia at all so go slow first time you try that. And some runners can't handle the Fiber in dried fruit during a run... I can early in the run but not after maybe 8-9 miles. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Looking for ideas

Wow I think you're way beyond the advice that can come from an internet board. I hope you have medical professionals advising you heavily. Thoughts and prayers are with you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. We submitted to insurance with documents of rashes and skin breakdown and it still wasn't covered. They had very strict requirements--for breasts you had to be removing a certain amount of weight (in grams). For the pannus it had to pass the pubic bone. Everyone's plan is different. Some have specific exclusions for skin removal, some have explicit requirements like mine, some just want documentation of physical limitations/issues/complications. Check with your policy to find out what they require! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Minimal sagging without plastics?

Because there sadly not much you can do... genes, age, how long you were overweight, how much you yo-yo'd, where you carried your weight all have more to do with it than any lotions, potions, dry brushing or Vitamins. Exercise can fill some of the skin with muscle but can't tighten skin either. That said use the search function and you will find lots of ideas of things to try. Science has shown that they are all placebo at best and expensive snake oil at worst though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  23. Most of those complications are temporary (gerd--most people only have it for a month or two and take a medication for it) or fixable (gallstones are from losing weight not the surgery per se and they remove the gallbladder, strictures are fixable or you can live easily with one, one member here does and likes the extra restriction, nutritional deficiencies are often temporary and fixable when not). What is the complication rate for remaining obese? I had gerd so your dad would count me in those statistics. Three years out now and running marathons and the healthiest I have ever been in my life! 25. I'm in shock! I was a pretty healthy obese person. A little borderline high blood pressure and a bad gallbladder. Now at three years post op, down to 140 from 271, size 4 17% body fat, running marathons and I was just told by my new GP "oh you're pre diabetic let me give you diet information do you want a recommend for a dietician?" WTH???? She says maybe it's due to the parathyroid issues i just had surgery for and she will run my numbers again in March. But seriously, what the heck? I eat low carb high Protein don't have any extra body fat... how is this even possible????? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
