    Chipotle is life~

Chipotle will give you a side of anything including the proteins! I get a side of chicken or barbaocoa and it's the perfect meal for me! About 2-3oz of meat!
  2. Try different types of water (bottles, tap) and different temperatures (hot, ice). I couldn't do our tap water (we are on well, no chlorine just heavy) but could do bottled water. Some people can only do hot or ice

    Intermittent Fasting - 16:8

Intermittent fasting has a lot of science behind it as a method of actually prolonging life! I do 5:2 intermittent fasting. I'm at goal and use it to maintain and to take off a few pounds after the holidays and such. I don't consider it a fad diet I consider it my way of life. Been doing it for 3 years now since reaching goal a year post op.

    Depression and regret after WLS

Here's another part--either consciously or unconsciously people think losing weight will "fix" things in their lives. It doesn't. The only thing that changes is you. And sometimes those changes really upset your relationships. Huge divorce rate post op.

    opinions on fruit?

I avoided most fruit while I was losing. I've been at goal for three years now and have fruit almost daily. I try to do it with protein like berries on my Greek yogurt or peanut butter on apple slices or banana in my protein shake.

    Going into surgery pregnant

Ditto... they did one on me even though I have my tubes tied and am post menopause. They don't want to do the surgery if you are pregnant so they will check!
  7. Definitely a complex system. But if sounds like she was maintaining her loss for a while before she got pregnant and then gained . Wouldn't the weight she was maintaining be her new set point? Shouldn't it be easy(ish) to get back to that again? Or are you saying fighting to get below that weight will be hard? If so I understand your logic.

    HELP !!

No. And I've lost 135lbs and maintained the loss for three years now. My plan was low carb high protein. The less processed the better. Real mayo has lower carbs and chemicals. When they remove the fat they add simple carbs (sugar) to replace it so full fat mayo is a better choice on my plan. But here's a suggestion, try plain Greek yogurt instead of either. I love Fage and you can use the 0% fat if that's what works on your plan. Get in some protein that way! Back to the eggs... I tried them every possible way and they were the one of last things that kept bothering my stomach.
  9. Ok well now that I've been cursed at for simply suggesting the poster think about what's behind her post, I guess I will answer the question. And note my original reply wasn't meant to be negative. Your question is "did anyone cheat" during their pre op diet. Yes, of course some people did.

    HELP !!

Eggs didn't agree with me till about month four and tuna is also hard on a new stomach. Put those things aside and try again after a few more weeks. I don't agree with the low-fat/light being better either. Where do you get that info from? They are filled with lots of artificial stuff that can cause more issues than the real stuff
  11. I don't understand your rationale for saying this. Can you elaborate? I'm four years out. When I have a regain (yup, happens, holidays and what not) it's ever so much easier to lose than before. My restriction is still there and helping, my hunger levels are still so much lower, everything my surgery gave me is still there and I make the decision and drop the weight and keep it off. To the OP... sometimes our goal isn't our bodies goal. You may have hit your body's goal, regardless of pregnancy. You might want to look into 5/2 intermittent fasting. A lot of us vets do that. There used to be some threads on it, try a search or just a general internet search.
  12. There's a lot on this thread but this wasn't addressed unless I missed it... it's LOW fat that is bad for gallstones not high fat.
  13. What is it you are really asking here? Because you know the answer to the question you asked is yes, of course someone has cheated on their pre op diet. Are you asking for a show of hands for solidarity? Are you asking what the ramifications were for those who did? Are you asking for people who did and still succeeded to share so you can feel confident in case you do the same? Did you go off the wagon and scare yourself and want reassurance? There's a lot behind this question and I'm not asking for an answer but you might want to do some self reflection.

    Fast Food Questions

I was a fast food addict, like I would go through the drive though and order enough food for three large men and order two diet cokes to make it seem like I wasn't going to eat it all myself. So keep that in mind when i say this.... Nope, over three years out and at goal for over two years and no I have not had a burger at all. Or a burrito. My cravings and addiction are gone. I do the Wendy's chilly, the grilled nuggets from chick fil a... maybe 2-3 times totally have had part of the patty from in & out or five guys... and about once a month I have a few McDonald's French fries from my teen sons portion. That is the freedom my sleeve has given me, and I am thankful for that every day! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Body image and sex

Sounds like somebody treated you really bad. and believe me I understand about image. It works the other way too. Women don't talk to me because of my size. I actually lost a job because they didn't want a fat man working there. Women can be just as cruel as men. But I don't care how many cruel ones there are because there's a lot of nice good ones out there. And looking in the mirror and seeing your imperfections isn't anything that anyone can change but you. And it's never that easy. Sent from Larry's S7 Actually I haven't had bad experiences at least not about my looks. My issues are internal. Most men think I am beautiful, actually strikingly beautiful, which is really another problem all together that I am dealing with. Like I said before, no man I have dated in the past year as said anything at all about my body, they are usually very stuck on how beautiful my face is. The issue is my own person comfort level with my skin. Suddenly being uncomfortable in your own body is a very weird feeling. I never had this issue morbidly obese. I would walk around naked around men all the time, sex with the lights on, everything. I was very comfortable with my body. I wasn't one of those fat people that hated myself. I have lost over 170 pounds, not many people have lost that much weight. That puts me in a class with very few people. People that have lost in the 100 pound range don't have the same issues as people who have lost nearly twice as much. One of the things I am working on with my therapist is learning to accept that I am in a class alone and other people just aren't going to understand what I am going through because they aren't there and never will be. Even when I talk to my therapist I feel like I am talking to a brick wall, people just don't get it, and she doesn't either. I'm pretty much on an island by myself, which is difficult. I almost weight less currently than the weight I have lost, most people don't lose a full grown adult male in weight, and of the people that do lose that much, a lot of them have so much to lose, they are still morbidly obese after losing this much. So anyway I got a 2nd job for skin removal, because I can't see living like this much longer, beyond vanity it is terribly uncomfortable. It is quite different, I lost 135 and no one looking at me would ever imagine I used to be obese. I can't imagine what dating would be like. I do hope you are able to raise the money for surgery. It is truly life changing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How do you view overweight people now that your thin?

This. I think it would be crossing borders that are not meant to be crossed. I agree in general but since values and lifestyles can and do change throughout the years, it's still possible that the partner that used to share you values and lifestyle isn't a good match anymore. Might also be a valid explanation why so many couples struggle when one partner had WLS. Abso-frickin-loutely! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How do you view overweight people now that your thin?

Like others have said, I feel compassion and I feel empathy. I wish I could share what's worked for me, but I know it likely won't be well received by someone who isn't ready for it. I think as far as choosing a partner, too much emphasis in our society is put on "falling in love" (way too easy to fall OUT of love) and not in selecting a life companion. You chose a companion based on shares values, outlooks, beliefs, lifestyles, etc. i think it would be hard for me, were I selecting a life companion today, to chose one who was obese because our values and lifestyles would be too different. It would have nothing to do with my feelings about the person and their worth/heart/etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Not all plans are on puréed foods at 23 days out. Mine advanced more quickly than that. That's why I asked the original poster what her plan said. I do agree that there are some foods on that page that are cause for concern. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. What part of that plate did you try to eat at 23 days out? And is a Bahama mama a cocktail? I still can't eat rice and I'm over 3 year out. And choosing not to eat Pasta and breaded shrimp keeps me at goal weight. Alcohol would have burned my stomach that early out. Are those things on your plan?
