Vets- 3 years post VSG and need help

Most shakes don't have lactose if they are whey based. Mix the powders with water or yeah fairlife if you have lactose issues. 5:2 intermittent fasting is something else to try. Do you dump with all fats or just animal fats? Are you high fat meals that make you dump meals that are also carb heavy (breaded/fried type)? I think getting off the pop is def step one, even the diet stuff can cause carb cravings in some people.

Are You Still Seeing Your NUT?

I do this! Love em! Not a cheeze it but definitely good.
  3. What do you mean your sugar was way too low? Do you mean blood sugar? Or intake? Because I'm not aware there is a "too low" for amount of sugar you intake.

    Starving.

What do you mean netting? If you have an app that subtracts our exercise calories I would warn that they notoriously inflate exercise calories. Anyhow 500 calories is pretty normal for the first three months. I didn't get above 700 till maybe 6 months and I was running several days per week 3-4 miles. I would try increasing your acid reducer. I was on double the strength you are on and it took that to make the tummy rumbling hungry feelings to go (40mg protonix prescribed by my surgeon but 40mg over the counter omeprazole works too. Know that these meds don't work immediately like tums you need to take them for a couple of days usually before you notice a difference). Or it could be head hunger. Or you could be one of the unlucky few who get hunger. Most don't if they can control the acid and mental part. Water won't help the hunger part. Though you should make sure you drink enough because of dehydration.

Are You Still Seeing Your NUT?

Quest had a protein cheeze it substitute they tried out for a while through the quest labs program. LOVED them! Hope they bring them back! If I gain my weight back, it will be on cheese its. I can't have them in the house!
  6. I think it's def on the high side, but I would look at your sugar and carb calories for the entire day and that would give you a better idea on whether you have a good balance.
  7. I had tons of bruising because of the lovenox shots, so that part doesn't concern me. The rest looks a bit concerning though.

    Protein bars

    [emoji848]🤷🏼‍♀️
  9. Are you meeting your protein goals? Fluid goals? Almond milk is a negligible source of protein.
  10. My thought is this-- CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE NORMAL!!! studies show post menopause women gain 1.5-2lbs a year and most women gain an average of 12lbs in the 6 years following menopause. Not saying whether you should or shouldn't work to lose those pounds, but MOST normal weight women have the same struggle. It's not you. And it may not be the sign of a slippery slope. It may just be. NORMAL. I do believe there's a difference between health pounds and vanity pounds and all regain isn't the same. Some isn't the end of the world as long as you are still eating well and your health is good.
  11. That's so odd they say they cover gastric sleeve but not sleeve gastrectomy. I was under the impression those were different works for the same procedure. Color me perplexed!
  12. Most thyroid nodules are benign but definitely get t checked! I have some on mine they monitor regularly, but a needle biopsy showed they were benign (non cancerous).

    Protein bars

"Back to" Greek yogurt? That's not considered a whole food protein source?

    Starving.

Are you on an acid blocker??

    Protein bars

Again please clarify... 60g minimum but he's not concerned you can't eat and won't allow protein shakes? How is it possible to get 60g minimum in then?

    Protein bars

So I'm confused you are to get 60g of protein no protein shakes but he doesn't care about you eating only drinking? How is that possible? Or is the 60g a down the road goal? Your doctor is not like most. Most will will def say hydration is most important early out and few of us meet protein goals right off the bat. Many of us don't feel much like eating and have to force ourselves to eat and or drink. However, most doctors allow for protein shakes to meet protein goals early out. Because very few of us can meet protein goal with whole food for month and months. I couldn't for he better part of a year.

    Who does races?

Tough Mudder and Spartans are a lot of fun but way harder than racing in my humble opinion! Toughest thing I ever did, but totally worth it!

    Who does races?

Me!!! Started with couch to 5k app about three weeks post op and now I'm running half and full marathons, 200 mile relay races, triathlons and more! You've gotten good advice. Take it slow. Intervals are great, I used them for my first year and a half of races.
  19. My doctor has one of his on his website and I watched that, that was good enough for me
  20. Syntax Matrix (especially peanut butter cookie) and quest (especially salted caramel and cinnamon crunch)

    Bread Products!

Four years out and I only eat them on very limited occasions. And they don't sit well in my stomach unless they are toasted.
  22. jess9395

    I DON'T want to eat!

Yes it's pretty normal for a lot of us. That's why most doctors recommend the use of protein shakes.
  23. No im sure you're not, but try and power thorough. It's a very limited time you will have to do this for! Just tell yourself this too shall pass!!! You can do it!

    Protein bars

Wow! Are you in the US? Most US surgeons expect us to use at least protein shakes for months after surgery to meet protein goals. How many grams of protein per day are you expected to have? I used shakes to meet my 80+ gram goal for almost a year and still use shakes or bars or powder added to things several times per week.
