And sometimes acid doesn't cause pain, just a gnawing hunger sensation. Try this... are you hungry for a particular food? Or will anything satisfy? If it's true hunger or acid anything will do. If it's something specific or a type of food, it's head hunger usually... just mind cravings.

There are different types of acid medications. Proton pump inhibitors block the stomach from producing acid (omeprazole, pantaprozole, protonix) Some other types reduce acid once it hits the stomach (tums, mylanta, rolaids). You need the first type.

You will be able to gulp and guzzle again. I run marathons. The fueling and hydrating isn't hard once you're more than six months or so out.

At goal... now below goal
jess9395 replied to allip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As others have said, drink your calories. Make protein shakes with half and half or even whipping cream. Fruit smoothies. Frappucinos. You said you were a 10 and were happy there and now you're smaller, but how small? Sometimes our bodies have different plans than we do. I lost down to a 4. Wasn't my plan, it was my body's. My stomach never went much behind 2-3 oz capacity either. Which was fine with me. 16 months is still early in the scheme of things. Often our bodies will lose to a point and then naturally gain a bit after hitting a low. Happened to me. I'm still a size four, but about two years out, after my plastics, I gained back about 10lbs from bottom without changing much. And now I sit right there easily. You won't keep losing forever. Your body just isn't "there" yet. -
How soon were you able to drive?
jess9395 replied to Naturelover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most hospitals/surgery centers require a responsible driver to release you to, introversion's experience is unusual. Heck I had to have a driver after my colonoscopy! Yeah it's usually when you're not taking any narcotic pain meds. I drove at the one week mark. -
Do a search for week 3 stall. Is notoriously common.

Acid can mimic hunger pains. If you aren't on an acid blocker perhaps you should be? Or if you are maybe the dosage needs to be increased? I needed 40mg instead of the 20mg I started on.

I find all the powders clump but I can add premade vanilla shakes as "creamer"

Skin "bounces back" to a certain extent (for want of s better work. To the extent that there is elasticity left. If you are a slow loser it's doing t little by little as you lose and keeping pace. If you lose fast it has to catch up as if were, at the end. That's one of the reasons most surgeons ask you be al a stable goal weight for 6 months before plastics. To see how much of the skin recovers. Your skin will come back based on genetics, age, weight, ethnicity and how long you were overweight. It will come back to the same extent regardless Of speed it's just if you get it all along or have to wait for it to catch up.

Huh, I got the data from both the Starbucks website and my fitness pal for the via packet. Guess it depends on the flavor maybe? th

My doc never had any restrictions on coffee and actually let people drink it in the hospital. I started when my stomach got over the acidy-refluxy thing at about 2-3 months. I don't add any sugar or such. I do use full fat half and half, I don't limit whole food fats in my diet. Just a warning the Starbucks via refreshers have 13 grams of added sugar.

Ah I guess if that's all you posted why did you feel the need to edit? I do think if someone comes asking for advice and then doesn't want to hear it it's a bit odd. But sadly common. -
I lost 136lbs (271 to 135) and have kept it off for four years, and they were and continue to be a part of my diet. I understand your plans don't include them, and that's terrific. But you can indeed lose weight including them. Especially if you are careful to only use the low/no sugar ones.

what is your ht/wt and clothing size?

5'6" 135lbs size 4 -
My anthem plan didn't require anything except documented attempts to lose weight. I've had the same primary care for years and we've talked about it for years and that counted. Weight watchers records or anything like that would have as well.

How are people affording all these plastics???
jess9395 replied to swizzle's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Nice! Mine would only cover a reduction not lift and a certain amount of breast tissue (500g maybe?) had to be removed. Sadly I had very little breast tissue left which was crazy considering how big they were when I started! -
For fun, please help! Clothing Size vs. BMI?
jess9395 replied to Berry78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Larger sizes accommodate more pounds. Women's plus sizes Room maybe 30-50lbs between sizes for me. When I got down to regular misses it was more like 10-20 and the smaller sizes (below 10) were more like 5-10. -

Started at BMI of 40 and size 20. Currently BMI of 21 and size 4 -
I'm glad you're figuring it out! For me personally I had enough trouble fitting in my protein so anything else was just not ok the table or part of my plan. Not judging watermelon, just for myself any fruit didn't have a place. No protein, just all sugar. I eat plenty of it now in maintenance. I hope it does the things for your metabolism you are aiming for! I just never needed it.

Old clothes? What did you do?
jess9395 replied to AZBlackhawk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Swap.com ThreadUp Poshmark Mercari I love all of them and occasionally eBay too. I love the idea of clothing subscription companies and wish Gwennie Bee (I think that's spelled right?) went below a size 10! If they did I'd totally subscribe I love their choices! -

Really? I didn't know that! H&M! That's cool! -
Just a side note, unless your trainer has specific expertise with Bariatric patients their advise is aimed at the general population. So just take it with a grain of salt. I'm a runner and do intense vinyasa yoga and I am post menopause and I never added that much sugar that soon out and my metabolism was just fine. I liked that my body adapted to burning fat instead of the carbs. Just something to consider, not a judgement call. Another couple of things... as long as you're meeting your protein goals there's no "eating too little." I kept to 400-600 calories per day till way past six months out and lost at a great rate all while doing yoga and working up to running a 5K at five months post op and a half marathon at nine months. And for the gnawing empty feeling make sure you're on an acid reducer. That often can mimic hunger pains.
