  1. I'm just challenging your view of "normal." We are a nation of obese people who equate food with everything from the social to the emotional. Most adults who maintain a normal weight eat differently. Some of us will be able to eat a whole sandwich once in a while. At four years out I'm not one of them and I'm glad. No one can predict whether you will be one or not.

    Donate blood?

I have a sleeve but I do it regularly. It's not an exclusion, so why not? Once you are able to get enough liquid and iron in.
  3. Four years out and I can't and wouldn't want to. Why would that affect social situations? No one really cares what I eat or don't eat in social situations, we are being social! Lots of options on most menus other than a sandwich!

It's official - Eggs make me sick

How far out are you? Made me sick for about six months then I was good. Keep trying!

    Hunger pains

Get used to the stomach mine still talks to me at four years out, but it's not related to being hungry/empty. It's just what if does when digesting or whatever. Even water makes it talk. Are you on an acid reducer like a proton pump inhibitor? Acid can mimic hunger pains in a lot of us post op, it did for me. Increased my dose and it was gone. Lots of thread on this if you do a search!
  7. Chicken Canned Tuna Eggs Steak/non ground beef Strangely cauliflower and carrots.

    Yes please!

I may or may not have developed enough of an addiction to these that my mother in law bought me a sous vide for my birthday last month. If i could figure out how to use it I would probably save a small fortune because Starbucks is taking all my money these days for these!!!

    Leftovers, eh, not interested!

I love leftovers... sadly I have a teenage boy in my house. I haven't seen a leftover since he turned 13.
  11. Yeah not an inch and a half part of it was me fudging
  12. I think we literally lose weight from the bottom of our feet. I think I was exaggerating my height for years saying 5'7.5" but when my doc measured me at 5'6" a year out from surgery I was floored! I gained 7. I usually hear 10lbs quoted. I lost 140 and gained back 7 for net loss of 133, so that's right at 5%, right?

    Back to Shakes?

    Getting Your Workout On

If your body shape is changing you are probably building muscle which is denser than fat so per inch it weighs more. Plus when you work out your body holds on to water.
  15. Can you add calorie dense snacks like Lara bars? I make a homemade version with dates dried fruit and nuts for fueling my runs. One cup each and a T vanilla in a food processor then form into balls and roll in coconut flour. Pistachio apple and almond cherry are my favorites but you can do any! Walnut ones are the least dense/easiest on the stomach. There are a variety of causes of type 2 diabeties. Simply getting old is one because receptor sites burn out. Fat blocking receptor sites is another and it seems this was your case if you saw an increase in blood sugar on HFLC. So I it's probably gonna be harder for you to increase calories without increasing quantity of food because plant based whole food isn't very calorie dense. Protein shakes may indeed be your best bet temporarily. But you're only less than 6 months out, right? Eventually you will be able to eat more and rely more on Whole Foods if you like! For others it's genetic or developed insulin resistance and those people need to eat low carb. They have actually identified nine types of diabeties so far. Crazy!
  16. There are plenty of doctors who would be fine with it (mine is) but definitely check! I started running several days a week at four weeks out and worked up to my first half marathon at 10 months post op on 600-900 calories per day with no appetite increase. I was also doing 3-5 hours of vinyasa flow yoga. So just depends. People are different. Give it a try and see what works for you. If it doesn't, give it up. But think how awesome it would be it it did!
  17. Yes eggs and then some about animal products in general. Arguments both ways.
  18. Sounds like a great experience! I actually love buffets post op... I don't focus on getting my "money's worth" in amount, I look at it as paying for variety. I usually share and let my husband or kid pick what we order but at buffets I can put a bite or two of several things on my plate (ok at four years out, granted) and make all my own choices! I've enjoyed them thoroughly since about two months post op.

    Protein powder question

It's such a trial and error thing, I had to try a dozen or so before I found what I liked. Nashua Nutrition website is great because they will sell single serving samples of anything they carry
  20. I'm really glad you've found the way that works for you@apple1 I was just going by the fact that you basically said you wouldn't recommend daily eggs to anyone. I can't find the post where I got the poison from, so I take that back. I just think it's best to avoid generalizations and giving advice. I try to just present information, but perhaps my tone needs to change I will work on that. I eat eggs at least five days a week (I have hens as well so they are perhaps healthier eggs than many) and my cholesterol ratio is perfect. So my study with a population of one bears out my personal use of eggs. I suggest others try the same, if they so desire. I read the protein a holic thread and really enjoy learning from what you post.
  21. That was a game changer for me! Haven't been braless since I was like 12. I mean I ain't going out of the house braless, I am 48 no matter my plastic surgery it's not a good look, but still it's an option now at least!

    YIKES!!! I am the worst

You will be fine! Some docs don't even have a pre op diet! It's just a bad habit you will need to break and now you have made yourself aware of it which is the first step!

    Protein powder question

Oh I thought you were asking for a source about the genero controversy that's the link to the lawsuit filing. I have no knowledge or opinion or links on premier protein
  24. I think a plant based diet is awesome I think you get the wrong idea about me. I just don't think eggs are poison. And eggs are what this thread is about.
