What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

Some people drink it fine, for others it causes pain. No way to know which you are. I'm four years out and it still causes pain for me (accidentally drank hubbys gin and tonic instead of my drink a couple months ago, so I know it still does!)

    Fitness Trainers and WLS

This seems to be a popular topic this week. I will put what I answered in two other posts on this-- Age Genetics Race Amount of weight How long you've been overweight How many times you've yo-yo'd Those are the primary factors on whether your skin will return or stay stretched out. Working with a personal trainer is AWESOME and will help fill out the skin with muscle mass, but exercise won't do anything to the skin itself. Based on the factors above your skin will have a certain amount of resiliency and will "rebound" to that extent. If you lose slowly it will keep pace, if you lose quickly it will catch up as the months pass. Vitamins, creams, dry brushing can help a little. Sunscreen can help not cause new damage. Excess skin is annoying but not life threatening like excess weight. As for whether insurance will cover it as reconstructive... depends on your insurance and the degree of skin and documented problems. I documented rashes and all kinds of stuff but my insurance has a clear policy that the pannus must hang past the pubic bone (mine didn't) and similar concrete rules elsewhere. Other policies differ. I have hella yoga arms and runner legs... they are very muscular. Didn't stop excess skin. Filled it out some but I had cosmetic surgery.

    Waist band or waist trainer

Wait till you hear her sing! And yes he's amazing too. Whole cast is really. We just rarely see women of size on TV and she's so brave and real and vulnerable.

  14. And like Diana my arms are toned and beautiful from lots of yoga, as are my abs and my legs from running marathons. The plastic surgeon helped with the excess skin!

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

Well if we are gonna talk about breaking the rules of other people's plans that's a whole different thing! I don't think it's cheating if it's allowed by your plan.

  20. I'm a planner and packed EVERYTHING! Only things I actually used were lip balm, my own pillow and phone charger (and phone). The hospital wouldn't let me consume anything from home-- gas x, cough drops all had to be ordered and provided. They also provided toiletries, ear plugs, notepad and pen...wore a second gown backwards as a robe.

    True or false?

I think that time will help skin rebound to the extent that genes, age, ethnicity, yo yo dieting history, length of time you were overweight, etc allow. If you lose slowly the skin will keep pace, if you lose more quickly it will catch up down the road. I lost 135lbs in a year and for another six months it caught up somewhat... but then that was it. So my experience fits what I've read on the subject.
