    Surgery didn’t work?

Sad thing is there was some good info shared too... I hope it doesn't get lost in the abyss.

    Coffee anyone???

I have no post op issues with coffee increasing acid/heartburn/etc and I eat lots of animal products and a fair amount of processed food.
  3. At 6'1" your stomach was likely LONGER. The surgery only changes the diameter not length so that accounts for part of it.

    Surgery didn’t work?

Yeah watch again.... he kept saying things like "every single time" and "always" and for things that didn't happen for me... and I am not that unique. I don't recall him saying have fun with it either... just basically don't do it out of guilt. Which I agree with. But he harped on NOT doing it.... not just don't do it for the wrong reasons or do it if you want to. Anyhow, I get it that you pick and chose which is terrific. It's just that unless you have some studies to back it up, making absolute recommendations and admonishments like he does is irresponsible and dangerous. I'm all for him saying, hey take it easy and have fun, or even that we don't NEED exercise for weight loss. But he doesn't say that. At one point he says if you can't afford personal training don't go to the gym. And yeah, both MLA and APA formatting say numbers one through nine are spelled out. But who really cares? I just had to because she pointed out my extra ellipsis... which to be fair was a typo not a mistake, I actually normally put three. She made me do a spit take that that is what she chose to critique.

    Surgery didn’t work?

And numbers ten and under should be written out in letters if we are being formal. Thanks for pointing out my error!
  6. My surgeon didn't encourage it. Water was just fine!

    Surgery didn’t work?

Let's not resort to Ad Hominem attacks. We are all bigger than that. Use the ignore function, don't stoop to that level. There are probably people you admire who majored in each. Let's not get mean and petty.

    Surgery didn’t work?

Didn't say it was for everyone, but he says quite literally it's not for anyone. He uses way too many generalizations that weren't true for me, so it throws up a lot of red flags for me. I watched the whole thing again today and I just can't get behind anyone who says "always" and "every time" as much as he does. And that stuff about don't even think about going to the fun if you can't afford a personal trainer? Wow, elitist much? You can learn a heck of a lot from books, the internet, videos.... some people will never be able to afford a personal trainer, me included. I started couch to 5k (free app) and yoga at the $30/month gym he eschews. Nope not for everyone, but also not for no one. And I'm not one of those former athletes who only got out of shape recently. I'm a never been an athlete and heavy my whole life. Not saying it's for everyone and I totally agree with the over arching theme that most weight is lost by diet not exercise, but not everyone has an increase in appetite with exercise and not everyone is unable to get benefit in a reduced calorie state. I built muscle on 600 calories a day. I ended a year at less than 900 calories a day and an INCREASE in lean body mass even though I halved my starting weight (271 to 135). And that body he said would take five years? Again, nope. So I have issues with his "Bro" science. If there's actual science behind it I would love to see it, but too many generalities that I can contradict. I don't believe exercise is necessary to lose weight, but I also know it isn't going to stop you from losing weight or fat.

    Torrid for regular sizes?

I will admit, though you say "hoe" affectionately when referring to your own clothing choices I probably wouldn't like someone calling mine that. It's one of those One can say about themselves, but if someone else does it's insulting. I'm sure you didn't do that intentionally, but I can see how it could feel insulting. Sexy, revealing, club, etc might be a better word choice to referring to someone who takes money for sex, an illegal act in most states =P

    Nausea after surgery?

Zofran and ondansetron are the same medication, zofran is the name brand the other the generic. See if they can give you Phenegran if comes as a suppository if you can't keep down a pill. Or see if they will prescribe Enmend. One pill can be over $200 but might be worth it. Lasts for 48 hours.

    Surgery didn’t work?

What are you basing this on? Just what makes sense to you or do you have some peer reviewed studies? I would love to read articles that address this based on science. I did plenty of intense exercise when I was far from goal and continue and it didn't hurt my weight loss, helped me build muscle to increase my resting metabolic rate and it didn't increase my appetite until after I got to goal. I would caution against applying my own personal experience across the board to everyone, but just saying it didn't hurt me any. So I would love to read some science that addresses the matter.

    Post Op Diet Hell

Sugar free pudding mix, sugar free jello, torani sugar free syrups, flavored protein powder all dress up ricotta cheese in a sweet way. Pasta sauce, seasoning packets (taco, chili, beef stew, etc) dress it up in a savory way. Trader Joe has unsalted cottage cheese. Or put a bit of pepper in it to lessen the salt.

    Nausea after surgery?

If you are susceptible to nausea they can give you a scopolamine patch that you wear behind your ear... you put it on before surgery and keep it on for 48 hours. Works very well! Also zofran/onadansetron works well. And finally enmend is a very pricey but AMAZING antinausea prescription. Talk to your doctor about options. I almost always get nausea with any surgery or narcotics but each of those have worked well for me at different times.

    Which scale to believe?

It doesn't matter as long as you use the same one consistently. So use the one at home. The absolute weight isn't as important as the loss/gain. That said, the one at the doctors office is probably calibrated more frequently and thus more accurate. That's what leads to the best accuracy not digital versus analog.

We are all so different, I'm 48 and have had two kids.

    Calories per day

Perhaps, but I'm a 5'6" female and weigh 135 so.... And I eat that on days I don't run and maintain because of my muscle mass. That's the kicker for a lot of us... the more muscle mass you have the more your resting metabolic rate.

    Ppi

My doctor gives a one month prescription to start and extends it if needed. I needed and took for two months then was able to stop.

    Average Weight Loss

While I'm a huge proponent of exercise for all kinds of health reasons and run about 30 miles a week and do 4-5 hours of yoga, most weight is lost in the kitchen not the gym. You can't outrun your fork. That's not to say you can't lose all the weight you want by working for it, but the work is more diet than exercise. That 70% includes people who workout and exercise. I do agree that with hard work t can be done though.

    Choosing what to do first?

My list was the same as yours with the thighs being a "maybe." I met with five plastic surgeons and sent pix to one in Mexico. Several told me they could do two stages--upper and lower body. The Mexico surgeon would do it all at once. I fell in love with my surgeon. Part of it was that he said with as little body fat as I had (i.e. No lipo needed to contour) he could do my top three at once because not as much blood loss and he could keep the surgery under his max hours. He also said that thighs were usually the surgery with the least satisfaction of the four I had in mind and his goal would be to do such a good job on the three he did that I would no longer care about the thighs. That was over two years ago and he succeeded!
