Cosmetic Surgery, Post-Sleeve, and NSAIDs?
jess9395 replied to Véronique's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My WLS surgeon isn't as strict on NSIADS as some. He doesn't want me taking them on a regular basis, but once in a while is Ok. That said, my plastic surgeon used narcotics and Tylenol so it wasn't an issue. Typically post surgical pain is not managed by NSAIDS. -
I thought that was true of all PPI's, it's not? I took protonix/pantaproxole.

You might need an increased dose. I needed double my initial dose.
-
Wow, thinking of you! Keep us posted.

During the loss phase I tried to keep my carbs around 20-30g like everyone has said. I made sure to get both soluble and insoluble fiber through supplementation (benefiber and psyllium husk capsules) while my intake was that low.

Try one! Talk to your doctor or omeprazole is available over the counter.

Thanks for sharing! That does seem like a good alternative for people. -
Soft puréed food stage

If you can get it in from other sources or don't mind drinking the shakes it isn't. I just drank the shakes. -
Acid can cause empty gnawing sensations that mimic hunger and that's the only symptom, no other "reflux" feelings. You might ask your doctor about a proton pump inhibitor on get some over the counter omeprazole. I needed it for a solid three months. With it the "hunger" was gone.

Part of it is vanity sizing too.... today's 18 (or 10) is very different from that size twenty years ago. I don't know how long ago your "way up" was but that's something to consider. My wedding was 22 years ago and I have a size 12 dress I wore that day (going away dress). I wear a 4 in today's sizing and while that size 12 dress is too big, it's only about two sizes too big not four.

Got it! Will give it a try! -
You keep saying it's your last post, yet you keep returning. You've made your contribution to the discussion, if you'd like to contribute some more--links to evidence, peer reviewed journal articles--I would love to read them. If you want to keep hurling insults and giving unsubstantiated claims and opinions I wish you would keep your promise to stop posting.

I love coconut milk! Haven't tried that brand, I get mine at Trader Joe's but I willlook for it!I wish they would carry the sugar free at Starbucks! -
@waler there are plenty of peer reviewed journal articles that discuss the benefits of IF not just popular culture book sales. With your background you should be able to appreciate that. I also don't understand why IF and a "balanced high protein, low fat diet exercise and time" are mutually exclusive. I want to say I really appreciate everyone's contributions to this discussion. I don't see it as a crusade, just a discussion. I succeeded just fine, lost all my weight (and more) got my body fat below 20% and use IF on occasion now that I'm at goal. God forbid anyone try to emulate my path. Oh and BTW My ALT and AST are fine, I have a Heptologist because when I was obese I had fatty liver. My liver is great now as are my kidneys (recurrent stones when I was obese, none since).

That's what I eat! I'm at goal and active, but that's what I need to maintain at 135-ish as a 5'6" woman, so not always unhealthy!

On twitter? You won't find research period on twitter. There isn't any scholarly research on it with Bariatric patients.... yet. Hopefully there will be one day. There plenty out there with other populations, though, including the overweight, diabetics, cancer patients, etc.

So you think perhaps you had some lactose intolerance early out? I understand that's common but I might try again. Almond milk has added sugar while milk has naturally occurring sugar and protein. -
Can I get by without blending foods ?
jess9395 replied to Mhy12784's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's why I asked to clarify and you said you could have it if you weren't lactose intolerant, you didn't specify any other limits. Your diet plan is definitely one of the more unique I've heard. -
Intermittent fasting basically means fasting for a time period every day, the length of the feeding versus fasting window varies but typically it means consuming your calories in an 8 hour window say between 10am and 6pm. Some people extend that fast and "feed" during a smaller window say 11-4. 5/2 is another version where you eat as normal five days and the other two are "fast" days and you eat maybe 1/4 your normal calories, but the other type doesn't involve a change in caloric intake. Then you get the extremes where you are fasting for a day or more. But that is not the typical application of "intermittent" fasting. Thats just plain old fasting.

When will hunger go away?
jess9395 replied to LoBMI VSGguy46's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Quite often the gnawing empty "hunger" is actually acid. If your doc didn't prescribe a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole or protonix ask about one. If they did, ask about increasing the dose. I had to do that for about three months then no more. Tums didn't cut it -
