Could it possibly be gall bladder pain?
-
Fatty liver disease doesn't typically cause pain unless it has progressed to cirrhosis. If you think the pain is from your liver, do you have a heptologist you see? I would make an appointment with that doctor and check in. Your bariatric surgeon probably isn't as knowledgeable in that area and this could be dangerous if it's progressing to cirrhosis.

Depends on your plan and your own reaction to carbs. I have them and I want more. Plus bread and rice don't sit well in my stomach. Check your doc and nutritionists plan. You trusted your surgeon to cut you open, trust your surgeons advice.

There are also belts that hold small water bottles or hand held water bottles with straps. That's what I use for my runs and have done up to full marathons that way. But yeah, IF It's possible to stretch your sleeve (and the sources I trust--with scientific evidence to back them up--say you can't) then water isn't going to do it. You're just feeling your restriction. And you may be able to gulp as time goes on. Some of us can, some can't. I can do 2-3 gulps, but that's about it. I'm over four years out.

If it makes you feel any better, I was curious so just for grins I tried the baking soda test myself. I'm post menopausal and have my tubes tied. Guess what? Mine fizzed too. All it does is show the alkalinity of urine and there are many reasons for that, not just pregnancy. Diet is a big one.

Can you just take a test away from home? I'm not sure I would trust either of those tests (clearly they don't even agree with each other). Or call the ob/gyn away from prying ears?

Question about Recovery House for Dr. Cardenas/Beauty Enhance
jess9395 replied to forgetmenot's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had my surgery on a Thursday and my trains came out following Tuesday. They had to be producing less than a certain amount and my swelling/fluid seemed to be much lower than most though. -
Question about Recovery House for Dr. Cardenas/Beauty Enhance

Depends on the state you're in I'm sure! My quotes were all much higher than that in California! -
Well my response wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at the person who asked the question about what changed. She asked a question and I answered. I have all the awards I need, and they don't have anything to do with what anyone posts on a message board. Good luck to all.

I only listed my size because the original poster likes to slam people who started more overweight than she ever was. My weight is smack dab in the middle of the normal range.

Thanks, you get me!

I appreciate your concern, but it's unwarranted. Like I said some foods I can eat in moderation.... I had fudge and cookies at Christmas, I drink wine and the occasional cocktail.... but some I just can't open the door to like cheese-it's! So if I sound obsessive it's more the brevity of my posts and the fact that they may be incomplete in the details. If you look at my history you can see much more. And I am very aware of transfer addictions/dysfunctions. If I'm in danger of that it's the exercise and when I'm training for a marathon I run a LOT which is why I seek balance and am not always training. I do yoga. I have weeks where I run only 6-10 miles and others where I run 50. I've spent a lot of time in therapy over the years and seek "touch ups" during stressful times (my mom died this year and I put my dad in a rest home). So if it's me personally you're worried about, I appreciate it but its unwarranted. If it's people LIKE me, well I'm a big believer in getting your head on straight and recognizing your own vulnerabilities, I think we all have them. Some people find their "balance" in everything in moderation and some moderate by choosing categories/foods to eliminate. I don't think either is the only path. But I do think that different people need different paths. One person's path won't necessary work for another. And this board has all types so all the paths need to be explored and discussed. No one type/path owns any discussion on thread. It's the internet!

I did vinyasa starting at about six weeks out. You're fine! Just watch your hydration.... I can't do the hot yoga myself! Just not my thing.

So.... That's just over $3 per day. Less than a Starbucks Latte. I don't see the problem [emoji6]

@creekimp13 Speaking as someone more than four years out and maintaining a 135 pound loss at goal (size 4)..... What changed for me is chemical, hormones and gut bacteria. The sleeve (and I assume other surgeries) changes those things as well as the size of our stomachs. Some of us more than others, the research is still working on figuring out what works for whom. But I have so much more chemical willpower. I had to work on the mental part, we all do of course. And stopping the refined carbs and sugars (thanks to the chemical part and the restriction) made me lose my taste for it to a large extent, and that's habit plus the rest. If I went back to eating refined carbs and sugars daily I'm sure my taste for it would return, so I don't. I do it occasionally, but not frequently. Some I gave up entirely--rice and pasta for example. And I have Foods I must avoid because they are triggers, and I can now largely because of the chemical changes. I cannot let a cheese-it near me! Does this help explain what's changed? What's different? Some foods I can eat in moderation, others I cannot so I avoid. That doesn't mean cheese-it's have power over me because I have taken their power back.

Chil fil a Greek yogurt has quite a bit of added sugar. It's probably OK in a pinch, but not regularly.

Why do protein drinks taste awful?

Ditto what everyone has said. It can hit you HARD and FAST! But I also sober up fast.

I can't eat within 2 hours of bed or mine will literally keep me up at night!

Four years out and mine still talks to me

Keep trying different ones! Isopure is light, syntax nectar is light. Dilute some with water (counts towards your liquid goals!) There are literally hundreds keep trying! And the feeling may change post op. I should have been more clear my post was more aimed at the poster above my reply not you.

Yup! It's on my surgeons plan! Add benefiber or another soluble fiber supplement. And also add an insoluble fiber like psyllium husk. If you still struggle try a stool softener or smooth move tea. It will get better when you are on real food and even better when you have room for some veggies.

I will tell you what got through to me when I felt the exact same way.... worked for me as a wake up call, if it doesn't work for you ignore it. It doesn't need to taste good. You don't need to LIKE it you just need to tolerate it. It's medicine to fuel your body and help it heal and not lose muscle mass. Grit your teeth and choke it down. Use it as a tool to reframe your relationship with food (food as fuel not pleasure) or just get through it until you can eat other stuff.
