    When did you consider plastics?

I set up my consults (met with four surgeons and talked to two in Mexico via email) at about 15 months out which was 3 months at goal. Had my plastics at 18 months out. Here’s the thing.... actually if you can “pinch” more than about .25 to .5 inch then there’s subcutaneous fat. It’s not all skin. When I had mine it was literally almost paper thin. BUT.... most plastic surgeons expect that subcutaneous fat and will usually do complimentary liposuction to recontour what isn’t skin. BUT it’s a much harder recovery when you add that in. The bruising and swelling people talk about lasting for months and making them go up a pant size is from that. So you get to pick which works for you! Each has pros and cons! I had no lipo and was back in my jeans by a week out. These pics were taken maybe 10 days after surgery and I had a tummy tuck, breast lift w augment and an arm lift....

    Maintenance calories/ounces/x daily/ Food

You’re asking about maintenance, right? Confused bc everyone is answering about while they are losing. I am four and a half years post op. Been at goal since a year out. I have to eat about 5 smaller meals a day to get all my food in because my capacity is limited. Like a meal might be half a sirloin patty and a cup of salad. Anyhow I eat anywhere from 1800-2800 calories a day as a 5’6” 140-ish pound woman. I run about 20 miles a week and do 4-5 hours of heavy yoga.

    Raw Veggies

There is no standard post op diet. Each surgeon makes their best guess as to what will produce the best results with the least risk based on their knowledge and experience.
  5. Absolutely!!! I am part of a running and weight loss group. What i do there is differentiate between health pounds and vanity pounds. How hard does each person want to work for those vanity pounds? Because as we get older we all have that issue no matter if we stated obese or are just part of modern society with an aging body! And for some of us we don’t mind the work and for some of us it’s less work that it is for others. There is no one size fits all answer, but in every way you will be better off losing the heath pounds and then the vanity is up to you!
  6. Yes, that too. It’s hard because we see both on these boards. The truth is some people need tough love and to be told “suck it up” or “try harder” I did! The best advice I got was a gal at vitamin shoppe when I complained about the taste of a shake... she said you don’t have to like it, just drink it. You can do anything for two weeks! She was right and that worked for me! And others don’t. So we need all kinds of advice given on these boards. I guess here’s the thing for me... is what the person is doing working? Will it work long term? Is it sustainable? Sometimes we can answer from the outside looking in (when someone eats whatever they want it may work during that honeymoon but likely won’t long term) Sometimes we can’t (no one but me knows what is sustainable for me... and maybe I don’t even until I try). So we give the best advise based on our own knowledge and experience. And we all need to follow the take what is useful and leave the rest model. Because what’s helpful to you won’t be to me and vice versa.
  7. For some and others do well with rules. It’s best to know yourself and what works for you.
  8. I wish I could help, my surgeon didn’t use a pre op diet in general. He might have with some patients, I don’t know, but in general he didn’t. I just had to do the general clear diet you have to do before any anesthesia/surgery.... clears starting the day before at noon, or maybe it was two days before? And no red clears. I don’t envy you all with the pre op liquid diets!! Hang in there!

    Raw Veggies

Today’s leftovers salad... with goat cheese, dried apricots after being tossed w TJ green goddess dressing in the big bowl. Probably won’t be able to finish all of it. Also having a half a sirloin burger patty.
  10. I get the worry about the restrict/binge thing. I probably could have been diagnosed with binge eating disorder pre op. BUT there is a chemistry change that happens with a lot of people with surgery. Gut bacteria, ghrelin, etc. so for SOME of us this is different. It changes our set point. One day research will hopefully be able to determine for whom that will be true. I followed my post op extremely rigidly for a full year. Never had a rebound or a binge down the road. I’m four and a half years out and at goal and I eat about 80/20 now (20% off plan). I also was one of those who ate extremely low calorie (six months to get above 600 cal) despite vigorous exercise and felt fine and energetic. So while I totally agree it’s a great conversation to have, I don’t think the answer is one size fits all. We tend to set up camp on sides of the debate and decide ours is the “right” one because it’s the one we are invested in the success of. I think different things can work for different people. But I think we must all be careful not to camp fully on one side and say the other is wrong or to pick the side we want to believe in because it justifies our actions.

Can we talk about boobs and bras?

I’m 48! Went from like a 44J (never wore the right size so guessing) to a 32Long as I like to say! Rolled me up into a 32DDD got a lift and filled me back up with implants and still a 32DDD which sounds big but really looks quite in proportion with my smallish frame (size 4 and 5’6”). And up those DDD’s fit into a size 4/6 because the band is small so the overall projection isn’t that big. Cup size is relative to band size.

Can we talk about boobs and bras?

LOL! Have you tried KT tape over the nipples for long runs!
  13. I only had a 24 hour clears diet pre op. I had about a weeks worth of last meals. Luckily I had already changed enough of my eating habits that I had a small portion of each, but got in all my favorites I wouldn’t eat in a while. Steak, greasy Mexican, pizza...
  14. These get a lot of their protein from collagen (their blend is “proprietary” so impossible to know how much). Do some research on how bioavailble collagen is. Spoiler alert, not very. Probably best not to rely heavily on these. They’re better for Once in a while in a pinch. Or at the very least don’t count on getting the whole 42g of protein from them. The body can only absorb about 30 in an hour anyhow and probably at least 2/3 of this is collagen. Things to keep in mind.

    Raw Veggies

Iceberg lettuce gets a bad rap, yeah the darker greens have more vitamin A, but iceberg isn’t bad! https://www.self.com/story/does-iceberg-lettuce-really-have-no-nutritional-value-whatsoever Just try little bits, introduce one at a time, chew well and wait to see how it feels when it hits your stomach half an hour or an hour later. I used to “de-string” the celery and that helped. Also careful with the cucumber too, some people can’t deal well with the gas it produces. That said, I do “leftovers” salad several times a week myself. So you will probably get there! I throw in whatever I get in my harvest box... leftovers from other meals... nuts, cheese, chopped dried fruit. Regarding the dressing.... watch out for “low fat” ones that increase the sugar in them. My trick is to take a big Tupperware/gladware lidded bowl and put all my salad fixings inside, put the dressing on close the lid and shake the heck out of it. I need less dressing that way because it coats nicely! If you have a Trader Joe’s around try these dressings! Theres a third with tumeric and almond butter. Even Early out they can moisten proteins and such—

    Raw Veggies

Be careful. Some people never have any trouble, lots take some time to tolerate and some have continuing issues so take it slow and a little bit at first... wait half an hour or more to see how it sits. I couldn’t do lettuce for about 3-4 months. Carrots, celery and cruciferous stuff (cauliflower, broccoli) took longer for me and I still can only do a very small amount and I’m four and a half years out. Other people have trouble with the gas producing ones like cucumbers but I never did.

Oh and I know many people who swear by Enell if all else has failed, it’s kind of a bra of last resort LOL! I’ve never tried it myself.

Panache comes in underwire. Also I actually like the Victoria Secret knockout. It’s front close underwire and the only VS bra I can stand. I didn’t find it til post lift/aug but it does well now with my 32DDD’s

You shouldn’t have to have an account! Try going to zulily.com and looking. Have you tried Panache? Ultimate Jog Bra? Brooks Moving Comfort Juno bra? Those are my go to when I run, both pre lift and post.

  22. Oh gosh yes! I need to eat small meals every couple of hours to get in all my macros and calorie needs! I mean if I ate sliders it wouldn’t be that way, but when it’s the good foods then yeah!

    If it's God's will...

If we didn’t have free will now could we have done that? I’m confused.
  24. It’s not about having a but! Seriously, I have none. Think of a monkey... he wouldn’t sit ON his tail, he would push it out behind him and sit on the backs for of his legs. The back of your thigh bones is where you need to sit. I tried quite hard to draw the “skinny” figure with no butt.... she’s just sweeping her tailbone up and out and making an S curve with her spine. That’s what it should be. Out tailbones (if you believe in evolution) are where our literal tails used to be and primates don’t sit ON their tails... they sit forward of them.
