Can we talk about boobs and bras?
jess9395 replied to Real California April's topic in The Gals' Room
Here’s the thing, most women wear the wrong size bra. Get fitted and not at VS they don’t know what they are doing and will try to force you into a size they carry and they have a very limited range. Or go here— https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/beginners_guide And figure it out yourself. Remember cup size is relative to band size. All an A cup is is 1” bigger than band size. A B is 2” and so on. So a 32D is only a 36” bust. But so is a 34B. My 32DDD’s aren’t that big at all! You would never look at me and think I have DDD’s. My guess is you are probably wearing too big a band size. Does the band ride up in back or stay down around your mid back? If it rides up it’s probably too big a band. Does the “stay” (part between your boobs) hug up against your body? If it doesn’t the cup size is probably too small. -
Wait until a few weeks before you go? They will still be selling swimsuits then! And think how much fun the shopping will be!

Yeah I’m in the can you find another job camp. Can you? Is that reasonable?

Lol! Mine eats more than I do too, but he’s a 6’3” 15 year old athlete. I don’t know how much my daughter eats because she’s away at college. I miss her!!! Enjoy your kids, they grow up too fast!

Not always. Different surgeons have different plans. My surgeon was the 24 hour type. He doesn’t give two weeks to anyone unless you’ve been diagnosed with and treated for NASH (aka fatty liver disease).

Do you miss being overweight?
jess9395 replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol! Yeah like I said I wouldn’t trade it, but it’s a source of anxiety on occasion that I didn’t anticipate. It’s really more subconscious than anything... I just get anxious and avoid certain things I didn’t before. When I analyze why that’s what comes up. -
Workout Choices.. don't know where to start
jess9395 replied to BrandiceLeSha's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I’m a HUGE yoga proponent!!! And there are all kinds of yoga, from the gentle/yin/restorative to the really active.... vinyasa is my jam, but I like ashtanga too. If you don’t have a studio nearby try a Video service like Daily Burn (you can try for a month free) or go on YouTube and look for Erin Moetz (aka “Bad Yogi”) or just search for gentle, yin or restorative yoga! You’ve gotten great advice about walking and such... elliptical is good too! But wanted to throw in a pitch for yoga! I started a program called “couch to 5k” (there are apps or you can google and print out schedule). I went from sedentary to running in a few months and now run full marathons! -
Do you miss being overweight?
jess9395 replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my initial thought was nope never. Even after reading the above introspection about losing the invisibility, i can certainly identify with that, but I don’t MISS the invisibility, I enjoy being seen. But I thought some more and what I DO miss is the power that came with my substantial body. At almost 300 pounds no one could physically overpower me. I had an amount of strength that came with the size that no amount of yoga and running can replicate. I feel stronger in many ways, don’t get me wrong, but I occasionally miss the power of sheer brute size. For example when running alone on a deserted road and I see a parked car with a man inside. I worry in a way I never did before. So yeah. But would I chance it for what I’ve gained? No way! -

Today is the day! PS in Mexico with Dr. Sauceda
jess9395 replied to byebyedarkpassenger's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yay!! Congrats! Let us know how it went! I found the drains disconcerting, but not particularly uncomfortable until they came out I had most of the surgeries you’re having (no face/neck or thighs and had tummy tuck instead of lower body lift) and I can say it was truly life changing! I hope your experience is the same! And I missed yoga and running as well! But they will be waiting when you’re ready! -

Hm, I don’t know I don’t moderate any groups. If you can’t do it, you can’t I suppose. But people should know that if the group isn’t secret anyone searching and finding the group will see they are a member. In fact, if someone you’re Facebook friends with finds it they will be listed right there front and center as a friend who is a member. Any reason to not make it a secret group? -

Now that it’s just closed and not secret I believe there’s a setting you can switch to people can’t see who’s a member if they aren’t a member themselves. Please consider making that switch! -

Just curious, why does one choose to run barefoot? I finished my first marathon near a woman who had run the race literally barefoot! I don’t understand. I like the cushiest shoes out there, LOL, and don’t even like the racing flat styles. But I’ve also run alongside one of those members of the tribe that runs ultras and he ran in his sandals. Not judging, just wanting to know! Why barefoot?

In Praise of Fruit Teas (Celestial Seasons)
jess9395 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I am currently mourning the loss of my precious Teavana!!! Love me some fruit tea! I don’t know what I will do when I finally delete my pounds and pounds I stockpiled when they went to 75% off! -

Interesting thought! You may be right! I had forgotten about all the underwires I had snap or poke through pre op! Haven’t had one do it since. I wonder if you’re on to something. The engineering doesn’t pass muster with the thinner wire/bigger sizes. Makes sense -
Do you chew and spit?
jess9395 replied to Marissa37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I think the chew/spit is a bad idea because of the insulin response and the acid secretions. They all happen in preparation for food that never comes and that can wreck havoc. My surgeon was one who actually recommended flat diet soda if you “can’t live without” and the NUT also suggested getting diet soda steam syrups and adding flat water. Yeah... I am thrilled I was able to shake that monkey from my back and didn’t want to leave the door open. Haven’t had soda of any variety since a month pre op and so that’s going on five years in the fall! -
Inches lost post body lift/tt?
jess9395 replied to HRHMKB's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had tummy tuck (which half just the front half, not all the way around) breast lift/augment and brachioplasty all in the same operation. Because I didn’t need any lipo the surgeon felt that he was able to accomplish all that at once. My butt could stand some lifting and my thighs some tightening but his goal was to do a “good enough job in one swoop” that I didn’t feel the need to go through another surgery for those. So far he’s been successful! -
Inches lost post body lift/tt?
jess9395 replied to HRHMKB's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Are you having Lipo along with? Most surgeons add that it as body contouring and that makes a huge difference. How much “skin” can you pinch? If it’s more than .25 to .5 inch there’s subcutaneous fat that will be removed to make it works also. When I had my tummy tuck my panus skin was literally almost paper thin. It was just skin. So I barely lost any inches. I wore the same size jeans before and after. So it’s very individual. -
New Whey Liquid Protein! It's a miracle!!
jess9395 replied to BettyBoop86's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
You’re absolutely right! I was being way over simplistic. What I should have said it most people won’t get the same benefit of a rapid ingestion of 42g of protein as they would investigate the same amount over a longer period and that anything in excess of what the body can use would just be extra calories. So I still stand by my statement that these shots are best for occasional use and shouldn’t be relied on regularly to meet protein goals. For example one “pounded” in the morning and one at night won’t give the body the building blocks it needs on a regular basis. -
Nut milk has no protein because it’s basically water that they wash the nuts with and then remove the nuts. So no real transfer of protein. Nuts have protein, for sure, but they also have fat and carbs. They are a great balanced food. If you aren’t sensitive to fake sugars try the no sugar added flavored yogurt— Dannon light and fit and such. Their protein is higher than the naturally occurring carbs from the milk. If you are sensitive to them try like Oikos triple zero which uses stevia and fruit juice. It’s carbs are only slightly higher.

Can we talk about boobs and bras?
jess9395 replied to Real California April's topic in The Gals' Room
We lose from different places at different speeds.... sadly we can’t pick where. My belly was the last to go (dangit, my butt was first). So don’t give up just yet. -
I don’t understand why your doctor won’t refer you to an endocrinologist. I think I’d find a new doctor if mine was blocking my access to specialists I thought were necessary. Do you need a referral for your insurance to cover it? Everyone has made good suggestions to confirm if your intake is on point, but just in general I want a doctor who considers me a partner in my own health care
