    Anybody take motrin after sleeve?

Different docs have different rules. Mine is fine with occasional use and I do taken ibuprofen maybe once every six weeks or so. With a sleeve the risk is just that we have so much less stomach if we did get an ulcer they would have a hard time because cutting it out (one treatment) would leave even less of the stomach.
  3. And you’ve opened my eyes to plant based eating ideas! I’m still a total carnivore but open to alternatives too... love my edamame pasta! Dog yoga sounds so much fun! A shelter near us does cat yoga and I totally want to try it! And have you watched the goat yoga videos? @goldenbarbie I hope you saw my list on your gym workout thread and my ideas here. You never seem to acknowledge my contributions. I put some time and effort into both replies/lists... more so the they one, but just making sure you got them!
  4. I love yoga! But it’s not for everyone. I made a bunch of exercise suggestions to her over there on another thread hopefully she will read those, but she said she couldn’t think of anything other than the gym so trying to give her other ideas here!
  5. Read a book? Do a good deed? Brighten someone’s day? Learn a new skill? See a movie? Knitting/crocheting? Volunteering? Working for a political cause you support? Taking a music lesson—instrument or voice? Art class? Art appreciation class? You said you couldn’t think of anything but the gym....so giving you some jumping off points!

    Gym workouts

It’s ballet based group exercise class— https://www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/pilates/exercises/barre-beginners-guide/?page=0 http://purebarre.com/ I tried it and it wasn’t my thing but it definitely works the lower body especially. Lots of gyms also do classes like Body Pump. Group weight training type thing in the aerobics room. I liked doing that for a while. Have you had a trainer at the gym work with you? Often times they will set up a program for you for a nominal fee or even give you three free sessions with fun membership. Then there’s the CrossFit/functional exercise type thing. My son and sister do that and I like to go to those on occasion, but the box jumps kill me. Now I do yoga and run. I’ve found I’m a more mellow, zen type with exercise. I would say it’s cheaper than a gym but the yoga studios are pricey! I could do yoga at home, but I prefer having an instructor. So many choices! I wish we had an orange theory fitness nearby I think I would like that. I also like TRX a lot. You work with straps and body weight resistance. Started as a military thing. https://www.trxtraining.com/
  7. That was how it happened for me... I went to the ER not knowing what the pain was and didn’t leave till my gallbladder came out a day later. My sister in law had same. But we both had stones if your ultrasound shows sludge not stones it’s not an emergency and they will make you wait till they have an open spot in their schedule sadly

Low fat vs Low carb—it’s a draw!

I believe most of what you’ve said too. I do think many of us have forgotten how to listen to our bodies so the eat when we are hungry and stop when we are full (and I would say satisfied...not full) is a foreign language we have to re learn. And until then (if that ever happens) tracking is a useful tool. I also don’t espouse the mainly plants. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with mainly plants but I also don’t see anything wrong with more animal products. We evolved as omnivores so I eat as one. My guideline for “real food” is one that doesn’t have ingredients, it IS an ingredient. And yeah, I eat lower carb. I feel better when I do. Is that more mental than an actually physical process? Perhaps. I also feel I have better control over the “not too much” when I’m eating fewer carbs, even fruit. But does that mean it’s an answer? Nope. Just what works for me, and perhaps it’s fully mental! (Well and the fact that grains and breads are uncomfortable in my sleeve).
  9. Thanks to@Johnnycakes for bringing this to my attention! Great randomized study by docs at Stanford! The study does rely on self report so there’s room for error but with the sample size and random assignment it really give some significant results. Also shows that food quality matters as in whole not processed foods— https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/2673150?redirect=true http://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2018/02/low-fat-or-low-carb-its-a-draw-study-finds.html https://nytimes.com/2018/02/20/well/eat/counting-calories-weight-loss-diet-dieting-low-carb-low-fat.html?referer=https://www.google.com/

    Need Some Goal Weight Advice

You’ve gotten great advice! I will just add my experience.... yup the 5-15 pound gain a few years out is super common and I did it too! But as@jenn1 said you can definitely drop it again. When I stay on track and keep my exercise up it’s easy to maintain... except for the bottom 3-5lbs those are tough! Even when I gained I was in the healthy range though. And usually I don’t worry about those bottom 3lbs. So why not try and lose what you can in case you bounce?
  11. Yes! I had my gallbladder out years ago and I didn’t realize how much it had been affecting me until it was gone! I bet you will be feeling better quite soon!

Where are these trolls coming from?

Fair point! Wasn’t intended to be a slam on you, I apologize. Just wondering why she rolled her eyes at you and didn’t answer me.

How to get my energy back?

Hopefully it’s just a bump in the recovery road! Let us know how you’re doing
  14. Thank you my dear! Always good to hear from friends! I will stop scratching! My hair is back and thick and full again and I’d rather not lose any!

Where are these trolls coming from?

So you only reply to posts that call you names and not ones that ask you legit questions nicely?
  16. And I don’t get what there is to report? Asking someone to explain a post that was misunderstood is not allowed? I’m literally scratching my head on that one.
  17. I’m confused? You told me I misunderstood, which I fully believe I may have done... that’s why I said I might have misunderstood. So you said I did misunderstand, you even called me dear. So I’m asking.... can you explain to me how I misunderstood? You said So I explained a person can’t edit after 15-20 mins and couldn’t edit someone else’s posts. And said perhaps I misunderstood your post. You said yes you misunderstood “dear.” So then I asked could you clarify what I misunderstood and since I couldn’t quote it I put the pic to show what I misunderstood. So can you clarify what I misunderstood? You must have misunderstood me if you’re calling me a bully for asking your help to understand. This is a message board, we can’t hear tone of voice. So please understand I’m asking for clarification of what I misunderstood and that all!

    Incision dent

Yup pretty normal while it’s healing. Probably as much that the area around it is swollen as it is a “dent.” Everyone is different. Mine hurt maybe a couple of days and then were tender for most of a week then fine.

Have you seen the new Shakes?

They are super popular on here but most of them taste like plastic to me. I am tempted to try the peaches and cream though.

How to get my energy back?

Protein, vitamins, fluids and if you want to add some carbs do so in the form of more complex ones like thinned cream of wheat/oatmeal or no sugar added dairy (yogurt, cottage cheese and even milk have plenty of naturally occurring lactose which is sugar). The refined sugars or even the fructose in fruit juices might not be the best idea this early out:
  21. @Bigviffer and@summerset are both right because there’s not one answer to this. Some of us have changed tastes, some don’t. Some can make the switch to food as fuel and others continue to eat for comfort. Some thin people eat for comfort and some eat for fuel. We all have different experiences. That said, what’s awful about Chipotle? I’ve eaten it as part of my healthy post op diet many times. It’s a matter of the choices you make there and what the r st if your day looks like. There are biochemical changes brought about it lots of us by the surgery. I hope it happens to you. If t doesn’t you will develop other strategies to make the most of the tool the surgery provides.

Have you seen the new Shakes?

Ok peaches and cream might actually convert me if they have a decent sour bite to them!
  23. Then why did you accuse the poster of going back and editing all the posts? Or did I misunderstand?
