Crazy! Must be location based because our TJ's is typically a lot lower priced than our grocery stores. I get most of my staples there---meats, cheeses, dairy, produce. Also love their frozen foods section. Soups. Low carb tortillas and crackers.

4 months.. How much can you eat?
jess9395 replied to Amanda Nicole Hosaflook's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost five months out and I can still only eat about 2oz dense protein at a time. Half a greek yogert. 5-10 nuts. It's really hard to meet protein goals. I still have to do a shake per day at least and occasionally two. -
Seriously? 4 SF Choc eggs Wonton soup 1/4 t Peanut Butter Skim milk in your coffee If you've read 5 posts on this board you know you aren't eating right. Whether you have an eating disorder or not, this is disordered eating. Nevermind the chocolate, where is the Protein? You are not nourishing your body and I think you know it. I am calling you out. "Isn't that enough?" Please. Read your post op stuff. Read a few threads. See a nutritionist and actually LISTEN. See a shrink. Do something.

There are plenty of low sugar jerkies (though there are plenty of high sugar ones too) I just am careful to read labels. This sounds tasty! Where did you find it?

It's relative. The cup size is the difference between the band size and the size around the largest point. For example if your band size is 32 and you are 36" around at the largest point that's a 4" difference which equates to a D cup I believe (I could be wrong about the inch to cup translation) So therefore if your band size went down your cup size could go up if the difference went up.

Four and a half months and 80lbs out. I have been experimenting in adding a bit more carbs...raising from 20-30g to 60-70g because I have been doing a lot of running, adding yoga to my weeks and prepping for a race. Mostly adding fruit and oatmeal. I have def seen a difference in weight loss. Better w/o the added carbs.

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
jess9395 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just checking in! Sleeved 12/2. SW 271 (no pre op diet) CW 191 Officially down 80lbs! Only 20lbs to my initial goal of a 100lb lost (171lbs). Also have taken up running and run 3+ miles 3x a week, in addition to yoga and still trying out new classes at the gym. I am doing my first 5k race in a week and a half. Just thrilled with the results of my surgery! Yes I have stalled (the infamous 2-3 week was hard and just came out of one that started at 4mos and lasted a couple of weeks), but it's part of the process. -
So....I finished C25K about a month ago. I am 4.5 months out from surgery and about 80lbs down. I am not quite running a full 5K yet...my loop is 2.7 miles and I have been running about a 14 min mile pace. BUT I feel like my energy level is keeping me from running further and faster. I have a LOT of restriction. I have typically been drinking a Protein shake before my runs as that's my normal Breakfast (just the powder and milk or Water...no fruit or anything). This morning I decided to try more carbs and so I are most of a small peeled apple with a small amount of dip made of PB2 and Fage 0% Greek yogert (about 1tsp PB2 and 2tsp Fage) It seemed to help quite a bit on my energy level--I did the whole run at 13:15 min/mile and the last .7 I did at 11 min/mile. However it was truly more than I was comfortable eating. What do you guys eat before you run? I am guessing I need to incorporate more carbs? How long before running do you eat? Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated! Thank you!

4 oz low fat mozzarella is about 320 calories 2 eggs is about 140 calories So around 460 total. But I imagine a serving would only be 1/4 of the recipe at most (I certainly would be hard pressed to eat even that much at 4.5 months out) so that's about 115 calories 6 Protein and minimal simple carbs. I can handle that. It's on my to try list, so I haven't tinkered. I'm sorry yours didn't look like the picture. How did it TASTE???

jess9395 replied to gastricsleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Ask. I had read all these warnings on here so I asked and they said sure no problem. The pulse ox worked and they didn't need to check my toenails bc I had the pulse ox

Can't stomach protein shakes/powders/Isopure - Need Help
jess9395 replied to lisi287's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem with they whey isolate shakes. But I find if I use ones that have a Protein blend (whey, caesin, egg albumen, etc...I do try and stay away from soy) they are much more tolerable. My go to is Synthrax Matrix (not the Synthrax nectar fruity ones everyone recommends). Jay Robb ones are also good for me. Instead of trying one after another that have the same protein ingredient (whey isolate typically) try ones that have different protein sources. I am almost four months out and try hard to get protein from food sources, but I still can't do it because my portion sizes just aren't big enough. I need one shake or scoop of powder (I like to mix with Fage plain yogert or oatmeal sometimes) per day to get all my protein in. -
Thanks!

I've been running "on my own" without a coaching program for a few weeks trying to up my pace a bit after finishing C25k. I have a set route around our house that's 4.5k. Not quite up to 5k but darn close! Signed up for my first official 5k event at the end of April so my goal is to be up to the fill distance by then!

I loaded up a bunch of movies, put stuff on my Netflix queue (hosp had wifi) and didn't watch any of them. Couldn't concentrate well enough even when I was conscious. Turned on the hospital tv and watched reality shows mindlessly and dozed.
-
I used all the lists on these boards and packed a ton and only used my charger and my Chapstick and my own pillow (horrible ones in hospital). A lot of the stuff (gas x, throat lozenges) they wouldn't even let me use without a dr's order and then when they got the order (for the lozenges, I didn't need the gas x) they provided them. They also provided toiletries and slipper socks and an extra gown to use backwards as a robe. I felt like I totally overpacked.

OMG! I have just been noticing the knee thing when I sleep! I will have to try a pillow tonight!
