Every dr has different rules. Mine was a week of liquids (all not just clear) then a week purée then a week soft.

Is it like just below your shoulder blade? I have one too! Plus my mid back just aches all over many times. Tips I've gotten include waking/running with my thumbs pointing out bc it's hard to slouch doing that and to try and keep my head back against the headrest while driving (same reason) and yes of course core work. I thought yoga would be a bigger help than it's been, though. I go 2-3 times a week and have for months and doesn't seem to help!

How much could you eat 2 weeks post op?
jess9395 replied to TonyaNKy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow yeah I am six months out and couldn't eat a whole can of Beans. Course the mantra on here is "just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD." What was your plan when you set out to eat those beans? To just eat as much as you could? Probably should have a better plan in place and then measure and eat according to that plan (which should have been given to you by your doctor). -
Yeah mine are tennis balls in tube sox, but the roll nicely up into 36DD's. Hoping for plastics after I reach and maintain goal. I think these things are throwing my back and posture out...they make the center of gravity off!

Your band size does go down. After nearly 100 pounds I am back down to a 34F/36DD from a 44Gish (wasn't wearing the right size back then).

That's awesome!!! Congrats! I just did my third today and my goal was sub 40mins and I did 37:15. You are miss speedy in my book!

I was one of the eggs are hard on my stanch. Couldn't eat then without pain will about four months out.

To the filthy liars who say cravings go away

Yeah I kinda resent the filthy liars comment. My obsessive cravings are gone. Once in a while an "oh that looks good" but no real cravings. -
Only doing pre-op the day before surgery
jess9395 replied to wablue31's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're welcome! Every dr has different requirements and I don't pretend to know why each makes the choices/recommendations they do, but if you trust your dr, trust their recommendations =). I have had great success and and thrilled with how everything has gone, and wasn't sad at all to skip the long pre op diet! -

48 hours of clear liquids for my pre op and that was it. BMI was 40. -
What month did you first try carbonated drinks?
jess9395 replied to Unhappysleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Six months and I don't want to open the door to diet soda again either. I was totally addicted. I would love to try a pellegrino again someday and a beer... But not until after goal and a year out is my plan! My dr is fine with it too... And even was fine with flat soda very early out. But I know myself and want to stay away now that I don't really want it anymore. -
Eventually. Check your Dr's plan. Mine allowed it at 3 mos, but that is on the early side. I had it at four months with no issues. It can be a slider food for many people (slides on thru without filling you up or providing any nutritional value) and they eat too much!

Chipotle Mexican Grill
jess9395 replied to DOMINICANA88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love chipotle! You can also ask for just a side of chicken or sofritas or something and they give you a little plastic side container. I did a bowl with chicken salsa cheese and guacamole about six weeks out. I still don't get Beans. Lettuce is still iffy with me a six weeks... Sometimes it's fine other times not. -
Preach it!!! Most of us women do wear the wrong size. Here are the basics, though, your boobs did NOT get bigger. Cup size is the difference between the band size and the measurement around the biggest part of the breasts. 1" = A cup 2" = B cup Etc So if you truly were a well fitting 42DD before your chest measurement should have been 47" (42 + 5) At a 36DD it would be 41" (36 + 5) Best thing to do is get professionally fitted. Most department stores will do it and so will Victoria's Secret and lots of boutiques. If you can't do that at least try measuring yourself using the instructions here: http://www.calculator.net/bra-size-calculator.html

I went home the next day. Dr prepared me for staying two but after I was walking and all he offered to let me go home the next day and I said heck yeah!

Questions about protein and sugar free items
jess9395 replied to Sassypants92201's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Re the Protein shakes...my Dr actually prefers you get the protein from food as soon as you are able, it's just nearly impossible for a while, especially at the beginning, because your capacity is sooooo limited. I still struggle at almost six months out to get all my protein in so I supplement most days with a shake. I know many on here use alternative products that probably aren't GMO so maybe they will chime in. I figure it's a heck of a lot better than what I used to eat so I don't worry about that. I am not sure I understand your second question. I don't eat a lot of "sugar free" products I just avoid most sweets and when I decide to splurge and have a few bites of something I do the real thing and that's fine with my doctor. I just keep my carb count low (under 60 usually 30-40) and that includes the natural sugars in the food I eat. -
Sleevers feedback wanted! Will I lose my hair after the Sleeve?
jess9395 replied to Gr8fulMiniMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Been taking mega doses of Biotin and lots of Protein but started losing it at about 5 mos out. Still losing at almost six months out. I think part of it is the shock to your system from the surgery itself bc same thing happened to me post gall bladder surgery. -
Any restrictions now that we have staples in our tummy?
jess9395 replied to Tammylb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They just MRI'd my knee last week for a running injury. I mentioned it to him when he asked if I had any metal in my body, but he said that wouldn't make any difference and it didn't. I would still mention it though just in case. I forgot I had a clip in my hair though and that thin jumped around like no ones business before he noticed and removed it! -
Hey all! I am almost six months out and almost 100lbs down. I exercise and eat all my Protein and Vitamins and get all my Water in. I have developed new back pain and am wondering if it is something related to the weight loss. It's mid-back jut under the shoulder blades/bra band area. It's worse after I stand a lot or exercise (running, walking, Zumba and even Yoga). I feel like my posture is pretty bad as well (I tend to hunch forward). Are my muscles out of whack from supporting all that weight for so many years? Do I need a chiropractor or a physical therapist? I am sure more core work and strengthening my abs will help...but do I need more than that? I've never had back pain before! What does it start AFTER the weight loss? I am also starting to wonder if my boobs hanging low (but still large and heavy) is a part of it. I have some great bras but still... Any help much appreciated!

Back pain after major loss
jess9395 replied to jess9395's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That makes sense, but as you say easier said than done. I wonder if a physical therapist could give appropriate exercises or techniques to strengthen posture. I really thought yoga would help but I go 2-3 times a week and it doesn't seem to be. I am not sure just telling myself to "stand up straight" is enough. I think it depends on which poses you're doing in yoga, and what type of yoga. Different disciplines focus on different areas of the body. You may need some poses targeted to your weak areas. (I can't wait to get cleared for yoga again. I miss it terribly) A physical therapist should be able to give some exercises that will help as well I've had back pain most of my life, and use yoga to control it. I figure yoga that strengthens the core will help the back, yes? And keeping that relaxed posture with the shoulders not hunched up by the ears...and the ones that elongate the spine? Any other tips? I go for my six month follow up in a week and a half. I am going to ask my surgeon about a physical therapy referral. I need a doctor's orders for it.Anyone use a physical therapist for this with success? Or choropractics? -

Best Tasting Protein Powders
jess9395 replied to Fox-E's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I second synthrax matrix peanut butter cookie! I also like the chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. It's not cheap but not as pricey as Chike or Unjury either. -
Results are not the same. Some people have various complications, ranging from excess of vomiting to suture line leakage to death. Some people never lose all their weight. Some people regain some or all of their excess weight. The surgeon you choose DOES matter. Following his/her instructions also matters. There is a reason that some places have earned Bariatric Center of Excellence designations, it's not by accident. It shows in the results. Even a huge variation in pre/post op plans and such among centers of excellence!

Phentermine Use after the Sleeve
jess9395 replied to TamaraS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are a lot of factors involved in hunger besides Ghrelin for sure. Other hormones and things (I know Leptin is one) in addition to the emotional triggers and such. It's super complicated. I can believe Phen/Fen was that long ago!!! I feel so old! Yes there were some rare cases of a condition (primary pulmonary hypertension) with some people who took it that they never fully proved was due to the combination, but they took the Fenfleuramine off the market. So not sure I'd call it deadly. I used the combo and it was the only thing before this surgery that made me feel like my appetite and relationship with food was normal! I was very sad when they took it off the market. I would have rather taken the small risk of PPH than the huge risks associated with obesity! Anyhow....I think if Phentermine works for you for the short term as another tool in your box, more power to you as long as your doctor is on board. It never worked for me by itself. -
