Protein drinks ... how long do you have to use them
jess9395 replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm another one who just can't eat enough to get the protein in without a shake most days and I am 9 months out. I have one a day most days. -
Trying to understand
jess9395 replied to starspring's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes all kinds. I am glad there are all kinds of replies on the board. I am one who needs to be called out and responds well to "tough love" so I am glad those posters reply that way. There are many kinder gentler posters as well. Somethjng for everyone. -
Count me in on this challenge too! On vacation now so won't be able to send my final weight for the Labor Day challenge till I get home tonight but I fear I gained a bit this weekend--I am proving the adage that you can't outrun a bad diet--spent the weekend at Disney running a 5 & 10K and waking 6 hours a day, but also eating very poorly (by choice, I chose to splurge and eat that 1/4 of a funnel cake and whatnot! And enjoyed the heck out of it, but back on track today!) So...I was around 149 when I left, gonna shoot for 145 because I think that's where I want my goal to be. The trick may be more to maintain. I have honestly NEVER in my teen/adult life NOT been trying to lose weight! It will be very strange and might pose quite the challenge!

Yes! I got from ross as well and One Hanes Place. TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I can only wear good substantial bras and they sell the better ones at discount prices bc they are slight seconds or last season. I went down bra sizes regularly. Beginning at a 44DD that was really too small and now am 32D-DD depending on brand. Sports bras seem to be the most forgiving and I could wear them longer

What fitness related EVENT are you training/preparing for?
jess9395 replied to catfish87's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Run Disney at Disneyland this weekend!! 5k and 10k!!! -
Yes my niece is petite like you. I got her fitted at nordstroms, and then actually ordered additional bras of the same brand and size on eBay - much less expensive!Great idea! I will have to try that!!! And OMG I can't believe you called me petite, lol, first time in my life that's happened! But I guess a 32 is petite. Wow!

Almost nine months out and I am only around 800-1000 cal per day.
-
Just an option - I was fitted for a sports bra at Nordstroms, and I am so in love with this bra! It's like each breast is sitting on a pillow, but the support is amazing! I'm now a 36G. It's panache underwire sports bra. It's made for us larger breasted folks.I just ordered one of these off Amazon! I had heard wonderful things. So glad to hear you love yours.Sigh...I so hoped for easier to fit boobs! I went from a 44DD to a 32DD which is almost harder to find!

How do u know when u r at GOAL?
jess9395 replied to jess9395's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good thoughts thank you! Honestly I love were I am at...6 pants, M shirt...and that might get smaller if I have surgery for the skin. It's almost a game with me now...how low can I get? And I think that's what scares me a bit...that doesn't seem like a healthy attitude! -
So I've been avoiding setting a goal all along saying I would know when I got there. My doctor just goes by the "lose 60-70% of excess weight." Well I blew past that a while ago. I've now blown past all my milestone goals--my "I will re evaluate when I get to X weight" goals. You know--under 200, pre pregnancy weight, normal BMI, lowest adult weight...even my stretch "let's see if I can get below X." I still keep thinking I will know it when I get there, but will I? Some close to me think I am there already. I accidentally put on my 16 yr old skinny Minnie daughter's jeans this morning and while it's not the size I would buy for myself, they actually buttoned. They were size 4. So...how did you decide? I keep seeing flabbiness so I want to keep going, but when is it just skin? Is it body dysmorphia? I am strong and fit (triathalon last month, training for half marathon in November). Thoughts for me?

Your story sounds like mine! I have a very young inexperienced NUT! I think I may schedule an appt with my GP and get his advice. We have a struggled together with my weight for over 20 years so maybe he can help guide me! -
How do u know when u r at GOAL?

You and I are at similar points in our journey sounds like! I hate to admit it but I am enjoying the protruding collar bones (though not as thrilled about the bone that juts out between my boobs at the bottom of my ribcage...is that the sternum?) -

Thank you cowgirl! I was hoping you'd reply...I've followed your story closely you are one of my role models! I am now in the 140's (5'7") and right around that BMI. That's a very helpful guideline thanks. I am not sure about what might make me feel I look good...that's one of my concerns. That I will decide I will never get there!!! Body dysmorphia or something. I appreciate your comments!! -

=). Yeah that was one of my goals as well, but I am past that as well and am at that reevaluating point you mention! I have extra stuff still, but a good portion is loose skin (with some subcutaneous fat with it!). I'm right there with you on the 800-1000 calories. -
Almost 1 year out and need advice for more weight loss
jess9395 replied to Taylor06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just gonna say the same--5:2 or some modified version. Basically it's intermittent fasting. Five days normal eating and then two of a modified fast. When you have the fast days you want to eat as early as possible for the last meal the day before and then as late as possible for the first meal on the fast day. Keep your eating window as short as possible on the fast day. Going back to basics works well too. Try going back to Protein shakes for a day or two a week. -
I freeze it in half tsp size balls and then eat it frozen as a finger food! Weird I know but started as a way to keep it from going bad in the fridge bc the rest of my family won't eat it. I also have a recepie for Choc chip "cookie dough" hummus! It adds Peanut Butter and a touch of maple syrup and a few semi sweet Choc chips and tastes just like Cookie dough! Satisfies my sweet tooth!

So what DOES constitute a veteran out of curiosity? Is it measured by post op time? Time at goal? Just curious! -
