I get you. I don't consider whole wheat bread, sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice, fruit, oatmeal etc to be cramp for everyone though. People with food/carb/issues like we have yes for sure, but I think my kids and husband can incorporate them into a healthy diet. Cookies/crackers/chips/etc are gone, but those types of things remain in my house. For the most part I am not drawn to them anyhow, and only eat them occasionally for running fuel. But I also can't bring myself to totally tell them no never to the occasional box of Girl Scout Cookies or other once in a while treats. DH has one of those eat anything metabolism which fortunately my 16 & 12 year olds have inherited!

I second that! Stick to the protein. Or pick your top choice carb and have s CDs bites of that one only

Thanksgiving depression

I read something the other day that really rang true and I plan on using tomorrow... The first three bites you taste, the rest is just eating. I think this is so true! I am gonna take three bites of anything I want (anything you are cleared for at your stage) and be done knowing full well anything more wont really taste as good anyhow! -
Ugh mine didn't even start till 6 months! And now at one year it's simultaneously falling out (though more slowly) and growing in

These Are great rules!!!! Do you live alone? I would love to do something like this but I just can't bring myself to completely eliminate these things from my kids and husbands diets. I've cleaned up what they eat a LOT but I do give them their whole wheat bread and such

I wish I could remember when it stopped after the gallbladder!!! Hmmm this time I didn't even start losing it till 6 months and now at a year it's slowed quite a bit but hasn't stopped
-
My research and discussions with professionals all point to it being surgery not nutrition as well. And I also had it happen with my gallbladder surgery, I just can't remember when it stopped! Sigh!

I understand this is why it happens and its temporary, but do you know how long it lasts? I am almost a year out and still shedding though a lot less. And the new hair is coming back. So I have funky hair at all stages ????. Talked to my stylist the other day and we are considering layers (which I hate bc it's hard to put my hair up when I run!) but want to time it appropriately!

I have a drawer in the fridge and a basket in the cabinet that are hands off. It's not that I feed them that differently, but I need to know they haven't eaten ALL of the quest bars/jerkey/think sliced cheese/thick sliced turkey/Greek yogert/whatever. My kids are old enough that they understand--DH is another story! He's decided quest bars are his new favorite! He's quite frugal so I thought sharing how much they cost might discourage him.... Nope! Sigh! -

Will I / Did You Go Off Protonix/Omerprazole/Pantoprazole PPIs?
jess9395 replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc does it for a month for everyone. I needed it for a couple more months, but stopped after three months and was just fine! -
Oh and an egg too forgot to add that! And a bit of vanilla or SF torani syrup
-
It's approved by my team and I use it (not frequently bc of the carbs) but along with almond flour and flax and oats. Coconut flour + protein powder + ricotta cheese makes a darn good pancake! I spread it with peanut or almond butter (no sugar added) and it's great pre race fuel when I run!

Do I need to wait 30 minutes between protein drink & drinking water?
jess9395 replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most doctors say something along those lines, I believe the question then is whether a protein shake counts as eating a meal. Mine doesn't count it as such. It's drinking not seating so the rule doesn't apply -
Is that cheating? seriously. I mean it's full on protein right?

"What if there were a natural disaster?" No access to Protein or Vitamins!
jess9395 replied to JALUVIC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oberto makes a line specifically for Costco called Pacific Gold. I LOVED their Teriyaki Turkey Jerky. Apparently I didn't buy enough to convince them to keep making it all by myself. The Teriyaki Beef is a close second and it's what I buy now. -

Ha ha! Well, it much easier to throw into a lunchbox for a car drive or keep in the glove compartment for emergencies! -

Oh my goodness me too!!! They discontinued my favorite and so I keep a HUGE stockpile of my next best just in case! My family teases me about it all the time! -
That's so awesome! I am gonna have to ask for that! How many grams of protein does a scoop have?
-
Protein is to preserve muscle mass as we lose not just to build muscle. Plus it's important for healing and repair. I would say it's as important as it ever was with you if not more
-
Lotta help you are! Guess I will just go in guns blazing and order one as if I know what I'm talking about!
-
Turkey with gravy makes a great purée! Mashed potatoes are a purée already (just go easy because of the carbs).

jess9395 replied to JALUVIC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually YES. We have an earthquake kit in our barn and it includes two cases of Premier Protein shakes! Not solely for me, would be good in an emergency for anyone! As for the medic ID two things: 1. Intubation is fine that's a tube into your lungs so you can breathe. It's the blind (without a scope to see placement) NG (Naso-Gastric) tube that isn't. But here's the thing...that's for nutrition, the likelihood of it being necessary in the field is next to none. My sister, a paramedic, says that they only stabilize and transport. She couldn't imagine a situation where they would do a blind NG tube. And in the hospital they'd use a scope because an NG tube is almost never an emergency. 2. yes yes yes any medic alert should LOOK like one and not like regular jewelry. Again, my sister says they have very little time to look for these so it must SCREAM look at me! Definitely consider one with a Red Cross or Caduceus.
