    Yoga's harder than it looks!

I started with gentle and restorative yoga at 6 weeks
  2. All very true. Just to clarify on my particular post, my friend has no comorbidities at all and is currently in the normal range, her 20lbs are just to get to where she likes to be.
  3. I think this is a super interesting discussion. Both sides. I don't share my surgery with everyone, but I told one close friend about it and she is VERY interested in having it herself. The catch? She's maybe 20lbs over where she wants to be, but she isn't even at an overweight BMI. At her top she was no more than 40 pounds over where she wanted to be, a bit into the overweight category, but not obese. She lost it all and gained 20 back. She does well when she eats low carb and exercises, but she's been eating more carbs recently. I was horrified that she would even consider it to lose 20lbs and not even being overweight. I still worry about a doctor who would do it for her, but you are all right, I don't know her personal struggle. Maybe I shouldn't judge.

    First Christmas

I guess I just don't "get" being sad over not having room for a potato. Potatoes will always be there if you ever do have room (which you will a year out).

Actually the person who said it admitted she had never been to a yoga class (said something like "I'd never pay for that". I don't wanna take the time to look back.) Anyhow yes for sure. But also different teachers present class very differently. I've been to very athletic vinyasa classes and some hippy dippy ones.
  8. Interesting! Never had that thank goodness

When did your hair loss start?

Different things affect people differently. I have read that the anesthesia can stop the growth phase of the hair so any hair in the telophase stage of development basically stops and that is the hair that falls out later.
  10. Big Sur is supposed to be Amazing!!!! A friend of mine did CIM this year and recommend it too!

    Does running get easier!?

I will look for the thread! Zion is on my list, but the "good" camping stuff fills up really quickly and my family wants to come to that one so I want to get them a cabin or something and they are all full for April. Again maybe 2016 for me! Las Vegas would be good except I think I am doing Rock & Roll Vegas half in November.

    First Christmas

If you are satiated and have fuel, why are you sad? THAT is your head hunger speaking. No reason to be sad you can't stuff yourself. You only really taste the first few bites then it's just eating.
  14. She says in her initial post it's not that she CANT she just DOESNT. No one is sabotaging you by eating too much food. What they eat has nothing to do with you. You can't expect them to change their lives because you have. They have their own lives and choices. But yes you can decide what you bring into the house. The holiday season is tough overall, and it will be over soon. Then make a fresh start and commit.

    Does running get easier!?

Napa was amazing!!! Lots of hills so quite a challenge plus the whole navigating and no sleep thing LOL, but I LOVED McDowell mountain, the trails are sooooo much more fun for me and more chill! Tahoe is top of my list for this year now that they've announced it! I need to work out a small overlap with something that has me in Utah until the morning of the race currently but if I can I am SO THERE!
  16. Wow! Six marathons in a year! Color me impressed! Spooners Cove is part of the Coastal Trail Runs series but just l looked up Brazen and am very intrigued! I figure for a first marathon the mountains to the beach would be do able LOL!

When did your hair loss start?

My hair fell out the same way after my gall bladder surgery, so for me I think it wasn't the nutrition or the thyroid, it was something about the anesthesia. I am getting wrist surgery in January and am a bit nervous! Don't have a lot of extra hair left to lose this time!

    Yoga's harder than it looks!

I just think of how many times most of us have been categorized inaccurately because of our weight and think of all people we would want to avoid doing the same. It is human nature to do so, true, but as you say it gets us in our own way many times.

    Yoga's harder than it looks!

Wow. Again I don't know what to say. So I will just channel the hippie yogini in me and let it be.

    Yoga's harder than it looks!

Just saying that categorizing people by the activity they participate in OR an activity by the people it may appeal to is a bit limiting. I know people of all varieties who enjoy yoga. Most are not hippy, dippy, trippy, including most of the instructors I've known. A few classes can be a bit "woo-woo" as we call them, but they are not the majority.

Ok yeah that sounds like it's worth the price of admission all by itself! Will have to rent it!
