Took me a while too. Maybe 4-6 months for most veggies and a little less for fruits. I still don't do well with raw broccoli either... Or raw cauliflower. Most of the rest I can tolerate fine. Sometimes pea pods are difficult but if I pull out the string thingie they are okay.

Real Food, Real Weightloss, Still Delicious

Wow! I'm sure being young and male helps, but it's still quite a feat! Congrats! Can't wait to try some of these recipes. I think I now need a smoker! LOVE smoked meats. So... You have goats, do you make your own goat cheese? Trying to convince hubby we need goats so I can make cheese! -

Sounds awesome can't wait to read, I eat clean whole foods 80% of the time myself. Question--did you really lose 86lbs in three months? Jan 22 this year? Wow! -
In California they will do 8 hours n a surgery center under general anesthesia and I don't think it is a law bc in my recent consults the docs have mentioned it as an " I don't do..." Rather than "I can't do..." And two said 8 hours and one said 6. @@jess9395 Interesting! I wondered if it was a law or not because it was an issue on all of my surgeries. My doctor said that they start getting cranky when they go over 6 hours and they don't like to let outpatients leave when surgeries run long. Since they do a lot of reconstruction patients in much longer surgeries, I assumed this rule only applied to those of us who leave the facility the same day. Could be in Florida but not here in Ca. Interestingly!

I love how the last two posts illustrate that everyone's plan is different. Trust YOUR medical staff. You chose them for a reason. There is no one right answer

Love both of them and the Chobabi 100 and the new Oikos Triple 0! Also the Siggis 100 calorie Icelandic Skyr which is similar

Boobs Bigger Since Surgery?
jess9395 replied to HighHeelShoes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish they got bigger! As others have said the cup size is the difference between the rib cage and the largest measurement around. Basically if the projection is 1" it's an A cup, 2" is a B cup etc. Most American women wear the wrong size bra because the truth is a D cup (4" projection) is actually average not a large size at all. So must people go up in band since when they shouldn't, the strain of the bra should be on the band not the straps and the band should not ride up in the back, it if does it's too big. -
Any suggestions on putting this on? I bought some and struggle all the time!

Little further north than you, Southern end of San Luis Obispo county but I drive through several times a week (commute to LA area!)

Plastics: Before & After (post your pics here!)
jess9395 replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for sharing! Your befores look a lot like I look now... Not much subcutaneous fat left just wrinkly skin. Your bra size is similar too and I don't think I want implants either (though my husband is thinking otherwise...) so it's nice to see what happens without them! -
Amazing!!!

1.5 Years Post-Op- What are you eating, how are you working out, and how do you feel?
jess9395 replied to AvaFern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 17 months out. Have been at maintenance for about five months. I exercise a LOT, training for a marathon, running 20-30 miles a week and yoga 3-4 times a week. Because of the exercise my doctor wants me to stay at 80g of Protein or more. And if I drop below about 1800 calories a day I keep losing, so it's a balancing act still because I can't eat much at a time. So I do a number of mini meals a day. I eat about 70% "clean" and low carb/high protein (don't worry about fat) and the other 30% is just "normal" as I say--I go ahead and have the cookie or the glass of wine or whatever. I still almost never eat potatoes or bread. I don't eat rice at all because it upsets my stomach. I still do a Protein shake daily, often I will make one with fruit and fage and Protein powder. I also usually have a Quest bar. Some days it's two Protein shakes or two quest bars. My other mini meals are protein and veggie or fruit centered. Turkey meatballs w tomato sauce Greek yogert w fruit Celery w Peanut Butter Cucumbers w laughing cow cheese meat & cheese roll ups Scrambled eggs with veggies and salsa Grilled chicken w roasted brussel sprouts and goat cheese Salads with fruit and blue cheese Beef jerky Shrimp cocktail Apples w peanut butter or cheddar cheese Oscar Meyer protein packs Handful of nuts or spoonful of peanut butter Tri tip or top sirloin w salsa and roasted veggies Quesadilla on low carb tortilla Oatmeal w dried fruit and nuts Grilled fish w mango salsa I eat about 5-7 times a day. -
Need help...Nectar Protein Powder
jess9395 replied to Misty1975's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Did you use milk or Water? It is the strong Protein taste that is killing me. I hope the other flavors somehow mask it. I did get a sample pack of those as well. Did you use milk with the matrix line? I use water with the matrix line. I went to Nashua Nutrition and picked samples that sounded good to me (they sell samples of anything they carry for $1.99). I like the nectar iced tea okay and the fuzzy navel... But don't love em. The rest I can't stand. Matrix my favorites are Peanut Butter cookie and mint cookie. But I use the chocolate and vanilla as bases for most of my shakes, adding in sugar free torani syrups, peanut butter or PB2, etc. Now that I am at goal and maintenance my go to on mornings I run is vanilla matrix w half a plain greek yogert (Fage) half a banana and some berries (or pomegranate arils) blended w enough water to make it liquid. YUM and keeps me going for hours! -
Starting My C25K Adventure - Looking for Advice

Wow! A 10 minute mile is AMAZING! Took me like a year to get to that speed! Well if you're taking competitive runners sure sub 10, but casual runners not so much! Sub 10 is super for someone just starting out. You have some real speed potential. I am thrilled that my half marathon pace is 9:15 and I've done five of them and took me a year to get that fast! My first races were like 12 min miles! -

Cottage cheese and swamp ass, how to get rid!?
jess9395 replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my... Yea tried to fill that extra skin up with muscle only helped a bit. Moisturized and Vitamin E and all those things didn't seem to help much at all. It's mostly genes and age. And plastic surgery. -
I had laprascopic gallbladder removal and tubal ligation prior to sleeve surgery and it was a non issue.

They all have that taste to me ugh! However I like the Syntrax matrix line -
I find myself feeling a bit defensive LOL since you put size 4's in quotes! I guarantee you I am a 4 in almost everything I pull off the rack any brand. Want me to send pic of the labels? Jk mostly but feeling a bit hurt!

How are you comparing BMI's? If you're going by tickers don't forget that many of us read and post on the mobile device app and don't see and therefore don't update tickers! I have no idea what mine says but my current BMI is 21 and I have 18% body fat at size 4. Occasional size 2. But absolutely bone structure and height and where you carry your weight factor in. My 16 year old daughter has same BMi but she's taller and carries her weight differently: she wears a smaller bottom than I do and a larger top.

How Soon Did You Try Guacamole, Salsa, Hot Cheetos, Doritos? Sorry I Just Had Surgery On Tuesday And Omg :o Im Addicted To All Of That.
jess9395 replied to Karen2012's topic in Food and Nutrition
Not eating Cheetos is perfection? My favorite weight loss blogger suggests that former carb junkies don't even eat crackers or Pasta. She uses cucumbers and shredded zucchini respectively. I don't go that far, but I don't get all offended when she says that it probably better to stay away from refined flour let alone junk food. There is something to be said of discipline and I sure was lacking in it. Psychologists crack me up. It's better to encourage people with positivity? Okay. I'm positive that Hot Cheetos are crap. Eat it or don't. Maybe Bobby should have learned his lesson from the first time he touched the stove. Reading the World according to Italianlady was enlightening too. I'm Sicilian BTW. LOL! Lots of different types and styles of psychologists! Not all offer the unconditional positive regard... I like reality therapy pioneer Glasser, his style can best be summed up by the immortal Dr Phil quote "and how's that working for ya?"
