I have had the suckers on and off for years before and after Wls. Sometimes you're just genetically prone to them according to my urologist (my dad and sister get them too). Ugh! Worst thing ever! I second the drink lots of Water and lemon juice suggestions. My urologist recommends lemonade.

Artificial Sweeteners / Who uses what?
jess9395 replied to Miss Mac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use stevia and occasionally sucralose (Splenda). I figure I eat clean most of the time and if that's my worst habit left I'm pretty darn good! -
Here we are.... now what?!
jess9395 replied to Rogofulm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hit my new normal at 12 months. Didn't really have a goal, more of an I knew it when I'd get there and I did. BMI of 22 body fat % of 18. I have been working on finding maintenance for six months now. Like the others I was never a ketosis person. I was probably in and out at certain points but it was never a goal, I ate fruit all along and some good carbs (no bread rice white potato). I def had to add it calories to stop losing. I eat more small meals during the day. Went from 4-5 to 6-8, but my "meal" is very small--Greek yogurt w fruit, turkey and cheese roll ups, Peanut Butter and celery, tuna w mayo and green onions, beef Jerky, a kind bar, a Quest bar, half a cup of oatmeal w half scoop of Protein powder, half a turkey burger patty w/mustard and avocado, etc. I also run, a lot. Marathon next weekend. I do yoga 2-3 times a week. So I need my calories. I aim for good clean choices 80% of the time and the other 20% I chose what I like (yeah a cookie or a few French fries or popcorn, whatever). Then I don't feel deprived. I feel normal. It's working for me so far! -
Quest actually makes protein peanut butter cups! They aren't bad. Not Reese's but pretty good

Tips for Abdominoplasty /Tummy Tuck Prep?

Congratulations!!!! Hope your infection clears up soon! I've followed your story for so long I feel like I know you... Our stories are quite similar and I feel like you're always one step ahead of me so I can look to you for what's to come, LOL! Doing my marathon in 9 days (so sorry yours got temporarily derailed) and then my plastics are scheduled for June 11th! -
I vote M&M's are. Peanut M&M's. Ew. No. Dove Promises. Dark. Nope none of the above. Reese's Peanut Butter cups alone are worth it!
-
Honestly? That's a lot easier said than done. That said, if you CHOOSE to eat a fry or an M&M or an oreo, do so consciously, enjoy it, log it, and reflect on if it was really worth it. Some things really are, most things are not. Omg you said a mouthful here! It's amazing to get to that point where you do realize that! Some things ARE and some things ARENT!

If the texture of Greek bothers you try the Yoplait whips Greek yogurt! -
For me "cheating" diffuses the personal responsibility bc I associate it with rebelling against "the man" who made the rules ya know? And if I don't get in trouble (ie gain weight, cause myself pain, etc) then I got away with it and the rules ceases to be "right" and I can continue to ignore it. If I make a choice to eat something I don't normally eat then it doesn't challenge or change the plan in the same way, it just superceeds it temporarily
-
Cheating is defined as: Merriam-Webster › dictionary › cheat Mobile-friendly - to break a rule or law usually to gain an advantage at something. : to take something from (someone) by lying or ... So totally not applicable in our cases here, what advantage is chained by these "cheats." It also sets up someone else as "in charge" because someone sets up rules which we then follow obediently or rebel against. Takes away our power. Not a cheat a choice. I make choices every day. I honestly don't even think my choices are good or bad many times. They either lead me to a goal or don't.

I don't eat bread/carbs/sugar at any of my fast food choices and typically eat grilled chicken which is the least processed. But I do a six hour commute (round trip) a few times a week sometimes. I pack food, but sometimes make the choice to stop and chose something fast food. I think there are good choices if you look and fit it into your program. I've lost 135lbs and am keeping it off (six months so far) so I don't believe it has hindered my success. Life is about choices and balance within the programs laid out for our success.

Am I the only one with a one-day pre-op diet?
jess9395 replied to TN_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was paid for by insurance. My doctor has different guidelines for different patients. I had a BMI of 40 and high blood pressure so not a smaller person, but I know some people he does a longer diet for. -

I only had one day clear liquids pre op. I did just fine. Drs all seem to have different programs -
At what age would you have Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) if you had a do-over?
jess9395 replied to JustWatchMe's topic in The Lounge
18. If my kids had the same issues as I did, same age. I am lucky they don't. Sometimes I wish I could figure out a way to encourage my sister though. -

Anyone NOT have gas pains?
jess9395 replied to tnkrrbl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No gas pains here -
I think at 9 weeks you can definitely leave your beans unmashed. And eat pretty much anything on plan at the restaurant--protein first. But yeah I don't think I would try something new just in case.
-
Cute!!! Yeah DH always told me I needed lots of hair to balance out the rest of me. Considering Short now!

Tried sparking water once a year out without thinking (was at a party looking for something non alcoholic and sugar free) and OUCH! Never again for me personally.

LOVE Siggis! Didn't know they had snack tubes!!! Where did you find those?I find them at my HEB store by all the kids yogurt tubes. They are in a white box. The tubes come in blueberry or strawberry flavor and are 5 grams Protein. Dang we don't have HEB in CA but I will keep an eye out.
