Before and After Abdominoplasty/Panni Pics
jess9395 replied to livvsmum's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had 4 very large babies (9-10+ pounds) plus with the 150 extra pounds my ab muscles got very thin & very stretched apart. Hmmm yeah I may be in the same boat, a 9.5 pounder and an 8 pounder and 135lbs lost. I know my abs have been separated since pregnancy, my first 17 years ago! -

Controversy over twilight sedation/multiple surgeries - your thoughts?
jess9395 replied to Bluesea71's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My American physician puts an 8 hour limit on his surgeries and works with general anesthesia. I will have a tummy tuck, breast lift with augmentation and brachioplasty done at the same time. He said that he felt confident doing those three together for me because I need no liposuction at all, just skin removal and likely muscle/fascia tightening for the tummy tuck. -
I am in the costly state of California and getting a tummy tuck, breast lift with augmentation and brachioplasty next week. I paid $23k, my insurance wouldn't cover any of it because nothing was bad enough.
-
I am hoping you're right! When my primary care doc cleared me for surgery it was a week before I was scheduled to run a marathon. He said to me "I think if you can handle a marathon you can handle this." Breezed through marathon recovery and am hoping for the same with plastics!!!
-
It is a lot, but I feel like I am only up for one recovery with my schedule and my kids' schedules so I better get the bang for my proverbial buck, LOL
-
Haven't had it yet... Scheduled for June 11th and already paid for! Getting abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), brachioplasty (arm lift) and mastopexy (Breast lift) w/augmentation.

Year out tummy tuck covered by bcbs

Did you already try, and then appeal? I would appeal until I can appeal no more! The doctor did try for approval, but my pannis doesn't hang low enough (insurance said mid groin) and no rashes or infections so they denied. Don't have much basis to appeal. -
This wasn't addressed to me but I can answer with a resounding YES!!! Try the couch to 5k program. It's all over the Internet and there are lots of apps (I used get running). It has you do walk/run intervals and build your way up. When I started I thought I was gonna DIE running 20 seconds. But just push through. Repeat days or weeks if you need to to feel more comfortable. I did couch to 5k about 15 months ago and just ran my first FULL marathon Sunday. Ran the whole 26.2 miles! I was never a runner--heck in HS I was one of the girls walking and chatting at the back of the pack in PE. If I can do it you can!!'

Yay! Glad to have this here! -
Have fun, put Protein first and don't stress about it too much! Order appetizers instead of Entrees or split something. Take some stand by foods with you "in case" like shake powders or Protein Bars. You can do it! It's a vacation--be active and make it about the experiences instead of the food, or just CHOOSE the occasional splurge and enjoy that--you can go full force again when you get home.

Yeah it's either that or having to pee all the time, LOL, one or the other!

It's not the people in the photo lying, it is in the people responding I see lying... And I'm not talking about the before and after posts or the progress pictures. I'm taking specifically about the people who post pictures and ask for an opinion. For example a young lady who had lost almost100# but still a ways from goal, posted a couple of pictures the other day on one of the face book groups I'm in. She had an event coming up and wanted some feedback about 2 possible dress choices. The first dress was a skin tight short cocktail type sheath that showed every bulge she had left and made her seem heavier than she really was. 2nd dress was also a shorter cocktail dress but had a flair skirt that hid the bulge and was very flattering. Due to different makers they were a size different. Looking at the pictures you would have thought that dress #1 was a before picture and #2 the after. Yet a large number of women told her to buy #1 simple because it was an 8 and not a size 10. To me that is lying and doing a disservice to the people we are suppose to be supporting. Oh got it, thought you meant the posters were lying. Well like everything else, you have to take anything you read on the Internet with a grain of salt...caveat emptor/buyer beware! I would never post on the Internet actually asking for advice on what to wear, lol!
-
Okay... But what about their post is a LIE? You seem so caught up in them LYING. Whether they look good or not is clearly open to debate and how someone responds is open to debate but those are all opinions, where is the LIE?

So I get really nauseated during/after anesthesia and when taking narcotics. For my WLS my surgeon prescribed a scopolamine patch and I did okay. Not perfect but better than usual. I also typically take zofran post op with narcotics. My plastic surgeon has prescribed Enmend pre op and it's a $100 pill. Is it worth it? Post op he has prescribed Phenegran suppositories. Again, better than Zofran? I am inclined to "stick with what works" even though it doesn't work 100%. But if I get a resounding chorus singing the praises of these meds I am willing to try them! What do you all think?
-
Thanks for all the input! I think I am gonna try and get a scopolamine patch to go with the "cocktail" just because I know it works at least somewhat for me and then go with what they recommend since it's worked for many here ????

What did your breast's do?
jess9395 replied to meyouus's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Went from 271 to 135. 42DDD to 32DD but it's all the aforementioned "tube sock" rolled up into a bra. Reached 135 in a year and have been there six months. The skin has "sprung" back somewhat--the socks are shorter and the "headlights" point back the right way again--still very deflated, but not as bad as I expected. I am lucky, will have surgery to fix them in June, but all in all they aren't as bad as they could have been. I am 45 and have spent most of my life overweight with a few yoyo's but wasn't truly obese till after my first kid 16 years ago...just to give you a bit of history. -
Thanks! The scopolamine and zofran were okay for me with WLS/narcotics, but didn't completely control the nausea (I did pantaprozale for the acid, but stopped after two months of no problems). Would love to hear if anyone has used the Enmend and Phenegran. Thanks

Tips for getting through plastics?
jess9395 replied to jess9395's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thank you!!!!! I hope things start getting better for you on your third surgery soon! Love the nightstand light idea! And the pad, never even would have occurred to me. That's why I love hearing been there/done that stories! And thanks for the help with the mental game of it too! I am not driving myself, DH is thank goodness, but I am supposed to have a follow up post op the day after so they STRONGLY recommend staying over in town that night. We have a small boutique almost B&B booked so hopefully it will be okay. I can't imagine I will even notice after 8 hours in surgery. We are coming into town the night before and thus the two nights so I can get used to the hotel and DH can have somewhere to be during the surgery other than the surgery center or wandering around. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense though! -
I am a planner. All the what to bring lists/posts and "trip reports" helped me so much through my WLS. I have plastics scheduled for June 11th--abdominoplasty, mastopexy w/augmentation and brachioplasty (tummy, boobs and arms). What helped you all get through it? What should I do or have ready before I go? What helped you? I'm not traveling far--about a 90 minute drive so I will do two nights at a hotel, but other than that its outpatient. Thanks everyone for sharing your tips!

What are your differences between Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3?

I'm weird but I put Protein shake in my coffee! Syntrax Matrix vanilla, Atkins French vanilla and my new favorite Select Protein Snickerdoodle.
