The texture is definitely love it or hate it. Kind of like a tootsie roll in my opinion
  2. I was fortunate to have my abdominoplasty and panni fully covered. I guess I will just have to pay out of pocket for the arms. I think it will be much cheaper than the tt & panni, so that is a good thing. Yes the brachioplasty is cheaper! There is that at least.
  3. I can see that if you've kept your calories that low the whole time. But by six months many have stopped tracking and the calories are creeping higher and they aren't aware. So tracking is gonna show Anyone where they are at and then they can make adjustments accordingly. If they aren't aware that they've crept up to 1500 or so they can adjust downwards if they realize they are consistently 600-800 they can adjust upwards. Tracking is a tool.
  4. Dang! Good luck with your next level appeal! My insurance said no way no how. I run like you but never got anything more than typical runner chafing so no "luck" there and my insurance has specific rules about how many inches your pannus must be past your groin which mine wasn't. So I had to pay out of pocket. With all your infections and such I would hope you would have a different outcome. Keep us posted! For what it's worth (not much) I think muscle/fascia repair from pregnancy (diasathis rectis?) should be covered for all women! And I bet if men got it it would be!
  5. Um yeah I don't think you need to increase any more at four days out! You just had MAJOR surgery! Follow your doc's recommendations but at that point mine were to walk maybe 15 minutes a couple times a day!

    Horseback riding post-op

Everyone is different. I went on a very active (walking) vacation three weeks out and as long as I rested adequately I was fine. The energy zap surprised me (a week out I didn't think I had the energy to stand up for a whole shower because of the hot water!). But by three weeks I was fine.
  7. It does get harder the closer you get. One simple reason is you need fewer calories just to exist as your weight drops (and you burn fewer calories when you exercise at a lighter weight). But we also tend to stray from "the basics" as we get further out just as you say. Some people also find they can eat more and their appetite returns at six months or so. Or they start eating sliders so they can eat more without feeling the restriction.
  8. Yes exactly truly the best to let yourself have the space to recover and listen to your body. Who'd have thunk it? Not me anyhow. That it would make me sad to NOT exercise!

Back to Running After Tummy Tuck + Panni

Following. Wow 3-4 months! I had mine 3 weeks ago 2 weeks after my first marathon. Was hoping for a half in October and another in December and Ragnar relays in October and November. Perhaps I am being optimistic!
  10. Wow really?!?! That makes me sad. I am three weeks out tomorrow (did my first marathon two weeks before surgery) and am missing it so much! Was hoping I could try at four weeks (paperwork says I can "ease back in to exercise plan" then) but when I asked at my appointment last week if I could try gentle/restorative yoga the nurse laughed at me and said NO. I was hoping to be back for a half marathon in October. Maybe not ???? Everyone is different. I had a significant amount of ab muscle repair done after 4 9+ pound babies & 150 excess pounds. It probably depends on the extent of work you have done & probably your pain tolerance too. I technically was released for exercise at my one month check up, but I was barely standing straight at that point. Running seemed impossible. I probably could've started last week, but decided to give it one more week hoping that the extra week off would help speed up the healing. I am registered for a 1/2 marathon the 3rd weekend in October. My official training plan starts July 27, so I am just trying to ease myself back up to 3 miles (where the plan starts from) by then. You may have a completely different experience. I hope so!! Lol. Still would do it all over again....totally worth it. We shall see! I had muscle/fascia repair as well and a breast life/augmentation and arm lift all at the same time! So I am probably being optimistic to think I will be back at four weeks... But I can hope! I just read an article that said if you are on the athletic end of things it takes about four weeks to start to lose muscle mass so I was hoping to be back by then. Also said you lose 20% of cardio strength/V02 capacity by then. Was thinking 20% wasn't bad LOL! Ah well, like you I don't regret it and will do whatever I have to do to get the best outcome, I just miss it! I honestly don't feel much like running yet, but wish I could get back to at least gentle yoga...I feel like it would help with the posture/hunching. I feel like I CAN stand up straight now, but continue to hunch and it's starting to hurt my shoulders and back!

  12. Love!!! Never thought that would be true of me and took a while (8-12 months maybe) to get to that point. Never in my life loved it but now I do. Hating being post op with plastics and unable to run or do yoga!!!! It's killing me!

Will my shoe size change too?

    Yes I was 9-9.5 now I am 8.5
  14. I'm lucky if I can get in 3-4 ounces at 1.5 years out. It's why I have to eat several mini meals instead of the typical "3 squares"

    What blender do you use?

    LOVE my ninja!
  16. I accidentally drank some fizzy water about nine months out and OUCH!!!! Tried a sip again just after a year and still OUCH. Haven't tried since.

    Quest bars

Love em!!! My favorites rotate but now they are chocolate brownie, apple pie, vanilla almond crunch and cinnamon roll. And I also like their Protein powders!

    Too much weight loss

Stricture. Hope they figure out what's wrong! Have they given you anti nausea meds like zofran or phenegran?
  19. So many different doctors and different recs just like WLS. You chose your doctor because you trust the doc, so listen to those recs. My doc gave me a binder for my abdominoplasty and I am to wear it for 4 weeks 24 hours a day except when bathing. Don't know if that's stage 1 or 2. Unlike many I didn't get any compression for my arms. My breast lift I had a compression tube top for two weeks and can now wear any supportive non underwire bra.
  20. You can do it with the sleeve if you work and commit to it! It's a tool. Yea it's probably easier to lose that much with bypass, but the only limits to the sleeve are what YOU make of it. I lost almost exactly half of my body weight in a year. 271 to 135. I am 5'6". I have completely changed my eating. I could eat around my sleeve (what we sleevers call it when you eat more frequently and foods that are easy to consume more of like crackers/chips/etc) but I don't. I exercise. A lot. I am also 45, you have youth on your side which can help (you have a better metabolism and less up and down history/damage and more energy to exercise) and hurt (possibly less likely to commit to the lifestyle change and realize this is the rest of your life--not lose the weight and then "get back to normal"). But my point is, you CAN do it with the sleeve. And yes, I have a bit of cake now and then (and not just twice a year) and I indulge, but it's a few bites or such. But it takes work. The bypass is easier in some ways because of the malabsorption--you can lose more weight more quickly and possibly with less work. But it has its drawbacks as you've learned. Know that some sleevers experience dumping too though. Or food intolerances. Not as many, but some. I can't eat rice anymore at all or carbonation. Dairy was hard for a while and eggs. And too much sugar will make me somewhat sick, but I can do it in limited amounts. Pros and cons both ways!

    Too much weight loss

Try to transition to real food if that's what your dr wants, and eat enough so you don't get weak. That would concern me much more than the rapid loss. You def lose it faster if you start at a higher weight. It's math, takes more calories to maintain a higher weight you eating the same calories as someone who weighs less you have a bigger deficit. I lost quite fast especially at the beginning (17lbs first week). Eventually it slowed and I lost all my excess weight and more.
  22. Consignment shops and goodwill saved my butt as it was shrinking. Amazed at high end barely worn stuff I would find at both! Curious as to other rental options. GB doesn't go lower than a size 10. Anyone know of any that do?
  23. Lost just over half (lost 136lbs and now weigh 135). Went from over 70% body fat to 18%

    Cost Curious - Plastics

Yes it's definitely much cheaper in Mexico. Just wasn't the right choice for me. Among other things I just couldn't be away from home that long. If I had gone to Mexico I would have only returned home today and I've been back to pretty close to normal since Monday and been at about half duty since a week out
