  1. Soooo much more energy!!!! First bit was rough, less energy. Two weeks out I felt like I couldn't even stand up in the shower! But after hitting that wall it got better and better and six months out I was running and doing yoga and keeping up with my kids like I never had in my life! Ran my first full marathon in May and I couldn't have done that when I was 20!

    Electrolytes

I use nuun but let the bubbles dissipate before I drink. It's not truly carbonated it's more like Alka seltzer and fizzes and then in done.any carbonation gives me cramps for hours but I do nuun just fine.

    just for fun... personality types

Interesting! I took it in high school and was an ENFP. Would be interesting to see if anything has changed!
  4. I started running post surgery and love it! I've lost more than I ever thought I could and am keeping it off. I do believe the running has a lot to do with it. I also do yoga which has built up my muscle mass (which means more calories burned and a higher metabolism) I've lost 136lbs--271 to 135--wear a size 2/4 and have 18% body fat. I think I would have lost even without the running, but not that much and my body fat % would have been higher.

    Disney and Pre-Op Diet

What about saving the actually parts that need a microwave for while you are at the hotel and eating the other parts (surely each item can't need microwaving can it?) while at the parks? Even if that means eating dinner for breakfast or something.

So it turns out my wife is gay...

I'm so sorry! For you and for your child too. I hope you find the strength you need to hear it and emerge strong, minute by minute then hour by hour and then day by day. Thoughts and prayers are with the three of you!

How NUMB are you post plastics?

I'm only two months out from TT breast lift/aug and brachioplasty. No arm numbness. Huge strip at my belly is numb. Still no nipple sensation, THOUGH, my doc checked the first day post op and I did have sensation there, so he says that's a pretty good sign that it will return when things are all said and done. I'd totally do it again even if it never comes back. I had wrist surgery in January and again in February and that wrist is still numb as well.

    Quest bars

The texture is definitely love it or hate it. I think it's like a chewy tootsie roll!

    Donate or Save Clothes

Pass them on as soon as they are too big!

    Quest bars

Yes I've heard that happens for some people too, I'm glad it wasn't the case for me. Dropped all the weight using them and now am maintaining well. Like everything about WLS everyone's path is different and sometimes it takes many tries to find what works for each of us!

    Quest bars

I do wish I could get all my protein from whole foods but I just can't eat enough. Love apple and almond or Peanut Butter but 2T has only 4g protein for the 190 calories and a quest bar has 20 for 170 calories. I can really only eat half of either above servings at a time bc of my restriction so I often opt for half a quest bar and 10g protein vs the 4 for an apple and 1T nut butter. Edited to clarify the counts above don't include the apple which is about 60-70 calories and all carbs no protein.
  15. Eating out yes for sure! At home not so much bc as others have said, I buy higher quality and expensive Protein powder!

    And another question

A lot of runners use pickle juice for electrolyte replacement. It's kind of controversial but I know many who swear by it.

    CrUnCh!

Yes the quinoa chips are good and I found lentil ones at costco the other day and they are yummy! Dried/dehydrated veggies (beets, zucchini, carrots), fresh veggies, Quest makes Protein chips (not my favorite).

    CrUnCh!

Be CAREFUL crunching ice!!!! I used to do it when I was younger and my dentist said it damaged the enamel on my teeth!
  19. Awesome because I can't squeeze my runner calves into skinny jeans unless they are two sizes too big for the rest of me! You need ones that have lycra in them.. Yeah I don't like them tight around my calves which the Lycra ones are. Actually I don't like stretch jeans at all, LOL, for whatever reason the annoy my skin. I just get the boot cut or flared ones and I'm fine. Thanks for the idea though!

    chips for salsa?

Oops sorry they were lentil chips not quinoa (got those once too so I was confused!) Forgive the ripped and wrinkled bag!

    chips for salsa?

Depends on your doctor, mine cleared me at four weeks to start trying everything and see how I tolerated it. I did fine with a lot of things except carrots, cruciferous veggies, Apple skins, rice, some meats.... Anyhow I did fine with cucumbers and zucchini and things like that. To the OP check with YOUR doctor and plan and see!

    chips for salsa?

Salsa on scrambled eggs! Yum! Or a quesadilla made from the zucchini tortillas I posted a recipe for in the food section. Zucchini chips from a dehydrator or low temp oven (yes I am on a zucchini kick these days my garden is over producing!). I also got some quinoa chips at costco the other day that may work for you, they dissolve into powder in my mouth so I can't imagine them being sharp or hard to digest at your stage (kind of like crisp toast does, but don't eat that!). I will take a pic of the bag later and post.

    Buying future clothes

Yes Goodwill! I can't tell you what amazing deals I find on high end brands! Ann Taylor, Lucky Brand, J Crew, American Rag, my new favorite Free People, all of them for $3-5 a piece!
  24. I am more than 20 months post op and rice still gives me a stomach ache, one of you few foods that does. Be careful! If you really feel you need the carbs for energy (though I agree with the posters above, there are other options) try oatmeal or cream of wheat instead maybe.
