    Does running get easier!?

Also you need to find out about your stride/gait and buy the right shoes for that. Often shin splints are caused my over pronation (do you wear out the insides of the soles of your shoes faster than the outside?). You need a motion control shoe. changing surfaces from what you are used to or ramping up mileage too fast can be another cause.
  2. All of the above. Plus eggs. And in limited amounts cheese, nuts, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese.

    My love for Starbucks!

Just to add something else to the Starbucks theme I went into one today and was chatting and learned they actually have protein powder there! I didn't get the macros I assume they are on their website but I though that was pretty cool!

    My love for Starbucks!

What brand are you using? I've been looking and looking for a good chocolate Protein powder that tastes good in coffee. The unjury just clumps and clumps -- it's gross drinking something with lumps in it! Another brand I had (I think it was Isopure) wasn't chocolatey enough. In my experience if you add the protein powder directly it will clump, but if you make it into "creamer" by adding some cold Water or milk first it goes in fine. I use Protein shake creamer at home a lot.

Water consistency liquids go right throw your stomach to your intestines. They will not stretch your stomach. I watched live on screen during my swallow test. Liquids empty instantly into your intestines. That is why you don't want to drink when you eat or drink high calorie Protein free drinks. The go right through your stomach. It is also impossible to stretch your stomach back to where it was. The sleeve isn't the same as the pouch the part of your stomach that is cut off is the stretchy part. They use that stretchy part with the bypass but not the sleeve. Bro science isn't science. Now foods make a Chai tea that is no calories no sugars and for dieters. You can drink it with no sweeteners and it is delicious. I will look for the Now Foods, thanks!

    My love for Starbucks!

Ah there ya go! She told me without the drizzle I assumed it was choc drizzle apparently it's caramel. My daughter has given up sugar because of an inflammatory joint condition so she asked her friend what she could still have. Sadly no more iced chai lattes for her, the chai syrup has sugar. If she likes chai lattes maybe have her try a brewed chai tea with cream and sf vanilla syrup? It isn't quite the same but it is close and yummy Thanks I will try that! I have SF vanilla syrup and half and half and I do think I bought her some spiced chai tea bags last Christmas that she never uses. I actually bought some of the Fit Frappe Spiced Chai Protein powder and....SHE LIKES IT! So happy! This is a skinny 17 year old and I never thought she'd actually like something like that so I am thrilled. I can at least send her off to school with a decent serving of protein.

Yes indeed. I just think opinions should be presented as such and not as fact. Best to you! Your methods are working for you just as mine are for me!

Not to be argumentative, but that's debatable. First of all it's a liquid, it slides right through. Second of all whether it's even possible to stretch the sleeve is debatable--the fundus which is the stretchy part has been removed. Third, we haven't addressed the time period in which that amount is being consumed. I have an 8 oz cup of coffee every morning and it takes me about an hour to drink. I drink water even faster than that sometimes! But it's liquid, it slides right thought.

    My love for Starbucks!

I will have to try again, I had one and was underwhelmed. Maybe it was the barista. They are hard to make. It takes skill, the rookie baristas have a hard time with it. What I like about them is with the milk and the way they are made they are naturally a little sweet and you don't need sweetener. Thanks I will give it another try! I had heard good things so was rather disappointed.

    Re: Snacks

You might but a ton of people are eating yoplait crap and wondering why they aren't losing as they want or gaining. A lot of people that post here don't have a good grasp on nutrition or labels. And yoplait Greek 100 is a much better choice than many other things out there. Yea it has artificial sweetener, but it's still a heck of a lot better than many choices.

Unless you are watching them eat (you aren't are you?) you don't know if they are scarfing and thus are using inflammatory words to support your own agenda. Accurate language gains credibility. Inaccurate language dilutes your credibility.

    Re: Snacks

I have brought jerky, Quest bars, cut up veggies-- but now our local theatre checks your purse for "contraband!" Last time I made my 13 yo son hide it in his cargo pockets! He was freaked out till I explained it wasn't ILLEGAL technically and the worst that could happen is they'd make us throw it out. We made it past the checkpoint and he said "omg what a rush!" I think I've created a monster ???? I think this is a situation where talking to the manager might be helpful, especially if this is someplace you go a lot. If movie theatres are going to restrict what you can bring in but not provide healthy options in their concessions, then this could be an accessibility issue. Good point. I only go to the movies maybe once a month, if that, but if I went regularly you have a point. We talked about that very thing...my son and & I... How it wasn't really cheating because of they had those healthy things for sale I would have bought them. But as someone said up thread I don't NEED to eat during a two hour movie, so not sure it's truly an accessibility issue.

    Too much protein a possibility?

Yes too much protein is possible and can be hard on the kidneys. That said, I don't think you are at that point. At my current height and weight and body comp, with the amount of training I do, mine want me at 100-120 minimum and didn't say a maximum. But def check with your surgeon or nutritionist and see what they say.

    Loose Skin

She had good genes or was young or hadn't been overweight that long. Somehow she still had skin elasticity. Working out will tone the muscles underneath and get rid of subcutaneous fat but it WILL NOT AFFECT SKIN. Maybe you will be lucky and have skin elasticity, maybe the OP will. Some do, some don't. The working out is excellent please do it. But the skin elasticity is not related.

    Loose Skin

Skin is skin as you say. Yes you can absolutely tone the muscle underneath and get rid of as much subcutaneous fat as you can (cardio and diet, not weight training) but that won't get rid of the skin. I worked out HARD had lots of muscle mass, quite "cut" and well defined, 18% body fat--almost no subcutaneous fat. I still had loose skin. Not horrible, but definitely there. I can share pix if you want to PM me. Not totally sure I want to post those. Will think about it. My plastics scars are NOT that bad. At all. And they don't go shoulder to wrist. Armpit to almost elbow for my arms and they hide when my arms are at my sides.

    CLA

I'm 46! And post menopausal! And it's truly accurate because I had the DEXA scan as part of my pre op and then at a year out and again in June at 18 months out. Haven't had it since my plastics in June so I don't know if that had much impact, but will have it done again in December. I was lucky to get in as part of a long term study of WLS patients to study body comp post op so it's all paid for. I work really hard for it. Running 20-30 miles a week, yoga 3-4 times a week and TRX 2-3 times a week.

I think that's changed because my daughters friend is a barista now and said they can do that one sugar free (I asked) but she certainly could have been mistaken.

    Re: Snacks

I am smack dab in the middle of doing this right now. After kidding myself for the past 1 1/2 months that I "got this" and eating things I shouldn't, not drinking enough and not exercising like I was, now all I am is 1 1/2 months behind in my progress. Granted, I haven't gained anything, but I sure as heck haven't lost either. I have to abstain from anything off plan. I have not learned to balance yet. @@Babbs was there a point in time that you can say you learned this? I'm not @@Babbs but in my experience there are certain things I just had to abstain from and others I can do in moderation. Some foods are just plain old triggers (for me chips, crackers...) and others I can do in moderation (most sweets). You need to learn YOU.

    Re: Snacks

All good choices! Check out Eggface's blog and her protein cakes! I make them and slices are the perfect Breakfast or "cookie" type treat! I also do low carb mini cheesecakes and everyone loves them at family events and they don't even know they are healthy! I do take issue with the "scarfing down yogurt which is full of sugar" comment. Yogurt with no sugar added does still contain sugar, but it's lactose/milk sugar which is HUGELY different in the way it acts in the body. And Greek yogurt sill has way more protein than it does sugar (again it's all milk sugar/lactose). So Greek yogurt with no sugar added is a good choice. And you can disagree, that's all good, but please don't use words like "scarfing down" which gave huge negative connotations. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt with no sugar added, but I have never "scarfed it down"

You can get the caramel macchiatos sugar free if you don't get the whip and choc drizzle. And get it with nonfat milk!
