Peanut butter powder?
jess9395 replied to mouse1972rb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are LOTS of threads on PB2. Try doing a search for It. There was literally one a couple of days ago. -
I got 1/2 C Pyrex with plastic lids. They have grooves all the way up the sides like stripes and I know which line is 1/4 C and which is 1/2 C I think they are technically maybe 6 oz not half a cup bc 1/2 c still has some "headroom." I still use them now at 20 months out! Early out disposable plastic baby spoons were awesome too! And I now have the whole family eating off salad plates instead of dinner ones. The dinner ones look HUGE to me now!

I learned something yesterday regarding Breast Augmentation
jess9395 replied to Djmohr's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I have under the muscle implants as well... Though technically my surgeon said they are "biplane" I think that's what he called them. I asked him (as I did all my consults) whether he did under or over and he said about 3/4 is under and the last 1/4 is over which gives a more realistic shape. Anyhow yeah no back problems at all and I run a lot so I challenge them daily! I wish I had D cups though... They can't guarantee size with implants and typically chose what's most proportional by placing sizers while you are out and seeing what looks proportional... I do agree they look proportional and I would never have believed it looking at them, but because of my small band size (32) they are actually a DDD! They don't seem that big and really fit my body well, and I still wear a S/M top, but bras are not easy to find and pricey! -
Recommended level of carbs in the diet - research
jess9395 replied to RetroGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I just discovered refrigerator steel cut oats! Take a small jar and put in 1/4 c steel cut oats and 1/4 c milk (I use fair life but almond or whatever you use) and some flavoring--fruit, protein powder, pumpkin purée, some SF torani, Greek yogurt--shake it up and put it in the fridge overnight! In the morning top with some nuts or unsweetened coconut...YUM! Some add chia seeds which I don't like but I added flaxseed and will have that to try in the morning! -
When did you buy new clothes?

It works for me because I was just taking it to goodwill before. And this way I use it to get credit towards stuff in their store -
Recommended level of carbs in the diet - research

They make a whole grain cream of wheat and a regular version try to find the whole grain one! -
The other place BMI woefully fails is in the very muscular/low body fat/athletic. Especially men.

Wow... I Better not try any diet soda! I might find out it doesn't hurt anymore. Not gonna even think about trying, just gonna remember how it felt when I accidentally drank some fizzy Water at a party!

There's a lot of research saying a better measure of weight for health predictors is this: http://www.shapefit.com/calculators/waist-to-height-ratio-calculator.html Because it is focused more on Viceral fat which is the least healthy (fat around our organs) and less skewed by a very high or low body fat percentage, which as has been said the BMI is (don't even get me started on that--in CA our HS students must pass a physical fitness test and how fast they are required to run a mile is based on BMI, the higher it is the faster they have to run--OK for those with a high BMI due to muscle, nigh impossible for the overweight/obese!) I often say I was born in the wrong time--when I was fat it was fat shaming, now that I wear a 2/4 it's skinny shaming society is focused on. Megan Trainor's "All About that Base" celebrates her curves while slamming the "skinny bitches." Layne Bryant's "No Angels" campaign slamms the Victoria Secret models. I know the original poster meant no offense, but you can get a little sensitive when society is full of those messages. Like VSGAnn above I lost way past where I thought I would! I aimed for 160-65ish because that's the most recent place I felt good. Honestly my body had other ideas and it was truly hard to stop until I got to 135 and my body found a balance there. It's honestly hard for me to gain or lose away from that new set point now so sometimes we aren't in control. And like VSGAnn I am amazed, I feel so much better at 135 than I did at 165. I feel stronger more agile and flexible and just comfortable in my body in a way I never did before. Ever. My exercise plan is a big part of that (I run 20-30 miles a week and do yoga 3-4x a week which has given me an 18% body fat). So to the OP, you may be surprised. You may not know where "there" is till you get "there" and you may not be a twig. I sure as heck am not a twig at 135 and a size 2/4. I have curves (32DDD) and muscles and a butt. I am stronger than ever before. But yeah there can be that cross addiction to losing weight. I had a period of time where I did wanna see "how low can I go?" Thought it would be interesting to see what being in the 120's was like. It's sure an interesting process and we all go through different journeys. Let's remember that and be supportive of people who wind up a size 2 and those who wind up a size 12 as long as they are happy and healthy.

Quest Bars - Soluble Corn Fiber
jess9395 replied to JamieLogical's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The corn fiber is just fine for me. And for my husband it's better! He used to get stomach aches from the old ones and the new ones don't affect him at all. My kids ate the pumpkin pie ones yesterday too and were just fine. So don't assume you will have a reaction to the corn fiber. Try it and see! I am sorry for those of you who have had issues. -

Just have to say.... SOOOOO GOOOD!!! And the protein powder recommended up thread? AMAZING -
Every anthem blue cross plan is different depending on who you are contracted through (employer, open market, etc). Some even have riders that say that don't cover any WLS. You have to check your particular plan. I was super lucky and didn't have to jump through any hoops except the pre op clearances. Got all those done in four weeks and a speedy approval. Your friend needs to check her particular plan. If she seems to meet all the requirements and there is no rider saying they don't cover it, it's easy to appeal or request a "peer to peer" review where her surgeons office talks with a doctor who works for the insurance company.

I mix with plain Fage yogurt and dip apples or cucumber slices in it, or just eat eat. I've also mixed it with oatmeal and that was good for a treat.

Yes I had major issues with eggs early out. I tried them once a week for a while and then gave up. About six or seven months out I tried again and have had no issues ever since.

Tummy tuck questions about scar
jess9395 replied to Meintraining's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I will say this... I consulted with five surgeons in person and two on the Internet. Only one on the Internet said the T would be worth it for me. So at least six of mine didn't try to up sell me on that. Can you get a second and maybe third opinion? If you can and they all say you need the T I would maybe believe them. Re the muscle tightening... Most women who have been obese for more than a couple of years or who have had kids need it. Do this--lay on your back and tighten your core like you are going to do a sit up. Find the middle of your abs (middle from side to side like a line from your pelvis to sternum). Feel for an indentation or separation that parallels that line, most of us have them. If it's wider than two fingers your muscles are separated and you need the tightening. -

If you're dating a guy with kids and he knows you've had kids, he pretty much knows what he's getting! Plenty of moms who were never obese have issues there!

Quest Bars - Soluble Corn Fiber
jess9395 replied to JamieLogical's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It's definitely going to be in all be new ones and has been in the S'mores and chocolate Mint since they introduced them. After researching both types of Fiber I am actually thinking I like the change in theory... But I have yet to try one to see if it agrees with me. Sorry it didn't with you! And yeah @@CowgirlJane is right they can be a trigger for many, but I successfully used them throughout my losing phase and use them in maintenance now. -

That's awesome! Way to go!!! I kept one outfit at my largest size and blank fit in one leg of my pants and can wear my shirt as a long baggy belted dress. I think one set is great then get rid of the rest! -
There are also exercises you can do... Google it, there are lots of pages with strengthening exercises specific to shin splints. I got a case after my first long run on sand and did the exercises and ICE. Recovered quite quickly.
