Light cream cheese? American cheese? Cheddar string cheese?
jess9395 replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do plenty of cheese, mostly full fat bc it's lower carb without the additives. I do do the light laughing cow and light cream cheese, the rest full fat in moderation. I love the Sargento ultra thin sliced sharp cheddar! It's so flavorful you just need a tiny bit. I put a half a slice in a slice of turkey with some cilantro or green onion, squirt some mustard on it---I love mustard and have like five different kinds I cycle through---and roll it up! Also love Bleu cheese, goat cheese, Roquefort, Gorgonzola--all those big flavor ones you can use small amounts of and add for a BIG flavor! -
Add me to the list of ones who didn't know it was there before but doc fixed during surgery

My plastic surgery journey, I got the works done
jess9395 replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm not the original poster, BUT most doctors don't want to do plastics until you have been at goal for six months (some say a year). There are definitely exceptions and even some who will do a panniculectomy after a large loss as an intermediate step to allow you to move more easily in order to drop more weight. I interviewed six surgeons and they all had the six months stable weight recommendation. So while I suppose I could have interviewed prior to that with the plan to have surgery at that point, I started interviewing at about five months stable weight and had my plastics and just over six months stable. -
Do you think people are just being nice?

I'll just add my voice to the chorus saying the "too thin" comments are coming from a place of comparison to where you used to be, and yes your mind needs a chance to catch up and see yourself clearly! -
Yoga!!!! You can do it at home with YouTube videos even (Erin Moetz/BadYogi is my favorite on there). I struggled with impingement in my right shoulder for years... Physical therapy, chiropractic, weight loss, none of it did so much until yoga and myofascial release massage. Definitely try a physical therapist but try some yoga too! Planks are great too ????

Yeah I got it all my protein took all my vitamins plus the biotin and gelatin and keratin for hair and it fell out just the same. But it ends and grows back in.

ANGRY WITH MY NUTRITIONIST
jess9395 replied to StephOnTheMove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
when you say you're having problems with the protein shakes, what kind of problems do you have? Do you throw them up? Is it difficult because of the taste or smell or texture? -
32 and oversewn here. Could your doctor have mispoken of you misheard? Like you a 32 is the smallest I've heard of.

A body area that stops you dropping a size
jess9395 replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not near full or half ironman level! I don't even have a road bike, just my mountain bike. That's the next step... Shopping for one now! This was a sprint--which I realize aren't standard length since each one I've done has been a different length! This was .75 mile swim, 15 mile bike and 5k run. I'm a runner first so I always wish that part was longer, swimmer second and I don't know if my biking will ever be up to snuff for longer distance. -

Yeah I bought one of those towels a couple days ago! Still haven't ventured back into the hot class... Loving my vinyasa and hatha though! -
Not tolerating protein shakes. Thrush. Nausea
jess9395 replied to StephOnTheMove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't tolerate lactose right out either but now I'm fine. Google dehydration. That white coated tongue can also be a sign of that! Seek medical attention. I'm pretty sure you're dehydrated! -

@@OKCPirate you aren't kidding! I accidentally took my first hot yoga class a few weeks ago! Yikes! I didn't bring a towel and was slipping all over the place. Dunno if I will be trying that again! -

Couch to 5k is awesome!!! I was never a runner (walked in high school PE class!) and it's how I started. Ran a marathon in May and have done three triathlons, countess half marathons and shorter races and two long relay races. And if you're intimidated by yoga you haven't found the right teacher!!! Try a Yin or Gentle or Restorative class to start. And if you're on Instagram search for Bigladyyoga she's inspirational!!! -
New body, new set of problems
jess9395 replied to Tootsietoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You mention antacids, are you on a PPI like omeprazole/Prilosec? That is a must for many of us. Might help that issue. How quickly did you lose your weight? A couple of your issues were transitional issues for me... I had horrible back pain while my body was adjusting to a different center of gravity. Did some chiropractic work (and I'm not a fan) and then some yoga to work on posture and balance. Pain is gone now. The old/gaunt/skeleton look... Again could be transitional. Loose skin does come back some and the wrinkles decrease. Weight training will build up muscle underneath and help as well (again for me that was yoga). The missing squishy butt.... Again when my posture improved I found I sat differently (kept the proper curve in my spine) and learned when I sat on the squishy part of my butt I was slouching, I sit on the back of my thigh bones now instead (sorry hope that makes sense). But again it's a posture thing--think shoulders back butt out arch in the small of your back. The mental issues.... Please get some help. Find someone to talk to or a support group. -
Traveling after surgery!

Interesting considering all the people who have surgery out of the country (like Mexico) and then fly home within the week! I say ask your doctor. -

I second that, exercise helps. I run and do yoga and stay pretty much in proportion. That Said my calves are pretty muscular so skinny jean and boots are hard! Other than that, once I got to goal it became my hip bones of all things! I can find jeans that are baggy in the waist and butt and hips but can't go any smaller bc of my hip bones! Weird -
Gall bladder was my first thought too

I did the same style of black tank top and bike shorts every month against the same wall in my house. I wish I had been brave enough to do a bra top!

Does anyone end up in a bikini? Please be honest!
jess9395 replied to bangbangbarbie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh you just haven't found the right bikini if you're worried about saggy boobs. Plenty of they are very structured and will lift those babies right up where they belong! -
