5 Months Post Op and I am so far off path.. I need help. I don't know where to start?
TanyaB replied to Heather Meyer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for sharing. You have no idea how much I needed to find this today. Struggling with my inner demons along with a child recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Don't know how to stop myself at this point. Will try to keep my chin up. -
Have you ever experience pain on left side under rib cage?
TanyaB replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had that for just under 4 weeks. It's from where they separate the muscles to get the stomach out and have to stitch them together very deeply. It's like a bad runners cramp. It will go away hang in there! -

Band food compared to sleeve food
TanyaB replied to steveelea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I completely agree with slikchick10! I'm 5.5 weeks out from a revision and it's so much better. You truly feel full and I've only had the "slimes" twice because I didn't chew well enough. It is so weird to eat foods that used to get stuck like eggs. Your think it's gonna come back up but it doesn't LOL. I think it is worth it. Good luck with your decision. -
I am 5 weeks out and have a protein bar a couple times a week with no problems. It's a nice change. Just watch out for the carbs

October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!
TanyaB replied to nik2nite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Potpieiii-if you are like more I had some pretty tight clothes, especially jeans so I'm still not seeing too much difference after 26 pounds. It will come! I am now seeing a difference in my underwear lol -
I am feeling the same thing coming on as it sinks in that the weight is really coming off. But I won't let it get me! LOL

October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!
TanyaB replied to nik2nite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For those struggling with protein remember hydration is most important the first couple of weeks. Your body will use your glycogen stores before using any protein. By then you should have an easier time of it. Just get as much as you can thru protein drinks. I find the lite muscle milk is the easiest to tolerate and room temp is easier on the new tummy. It will get better! -
October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!
TanyaB replied to nik2nite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
October 3rd surgery date. Preop weight 275, current weight 249.2. Feeling pretty good. Goal weight about 180. I'm 5'9" and 39 years old. I'm a band to sleeve conversion. -
I have trouble with hamburger for some reason. I ate 2 oz of KC strip tonight and I've had some pork rib meat with no issues. Must be a texture thing or the higher tendon volume in ground beef. Hope it gets better for you!

Feels like I pulled a muscle?
TanyaB replied to yjt45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Doctor will separate muscles to get access to the stomach then put a deep stitch in. It takes a few weeks for it to totally stop hurting. You did too much! I did the same thing a couple weeks out. Hurt so bad! Good luck -
No problems with walking. Rule of thumb from the doctor, if it hurts don't do it yet! Good luck

Thank you for the information!

What is dry brushing? Please do tell!

My hubby is actually worried about me losing too much because he loves my big soft booty and belly. He is very supportive though and just wants me to be happy.

Also keep in mind that even those bigger ladies in tv and in magazines are airbrushed. There are way more of us bumpy ladies than smooth! As long as the hills in between the bumps are getting smaller, you are winning!

I put my treadmill in the living room so it is always in sight as a reminder. Plus even if I have my headphones on with music, seeing the tv on distracts me so instead of focusing on my minutes I focus on the tv and get so much more done without it feeling like an effort. I'm a tv junkie so just being in that familiar setting makes it easier for me to not feel like I've changed so much at once. Good luck getting on track. We all have these days.

I agree MFP over calculates calories burned. I have seem it say someone burned 400+calories walking for 60 mins but when I put kind I'm for the same speed I get like 200 while my treadmill says about 160. I just wouldn't use the calories burned as an excuse to eat more. Instead use them as a guide to find your own bodies trends.

Need words of encouragement about post op pain
TanyaB posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am two and a half weeks out. Doing absolutely great with weight loss. I've lost 20 pounds so far. Tracking my food and my protein and my water intake, everything is good. What I'm having is severe muscle spasms/pain on the left side of my abdomen from where they dilate those muscles and remove the stomach. Sometimes the pain is debilitating. I'm still taking my lortab and I take diazepam for muscle spasms. I also use a heating pad at night. I mostly just need to hear from others who have this pain that it will eventually go away and it's not something I should be too scared of. I had back surgery last year that turned into an infection in my spine. This led to a week in the hospital and 8 weeks of disability over an outpatient surgery so I am over worried about this pain lasting so long. Any information that anyone can provide is very much appreciated. I mostly just need to hear that I am not alone and that this will pass. If anyone can provide their personal experience of how long it took to get past this point I think it will help me. Thank you in advance. -

Thanks so much. It's getting better each week. I still get tired too. -
My surgeon maybe wait a minimum 6 weeks from the band removal to the sleeve. This allows the stomach to heal from any kind of scar tissue.
