  1. I know a couple of people that have done this and they did contact the Drs offices in Mexico directly but there was communication with the patient's personal care physician. I think all after care visits are with the PCP.
  2. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield, its in the Blue Care Newtwork but my policy does not pay 100%. I have to meet my $250 deductible,I pay 15% copay of covered services. And that just is just for the hospital. The doctor is paid at 80% and I have to cover the other 20%. I also have to pay a $200 fee per hospital admission. Its not cheap but I am thankful my insurance pays something. If I didn't have coverage, I'd save up the money and go to Mexico.

    Day 4 Help!

You are a good man!! Keep supporting her but remember, this is her journey and you can't be her jailer. Make some "legal" suggestions to her that are on her diet. Use some psychological tricks, getting her to envision what she will look like when she looses the weight. Women love that visual... we are all such Divas. Remind her that for her to reach that vision she has to stay on track... but you can't force her. She has to learn to make her decisions and be able to live with them. Good luck and stick with your lady as this will all be a memory that you can both joke about at a later date.

    Psychological Evaluation Done

Thanks for the Political Correctness Check SuperFatty, I was not making a judgment about anybody else, only about myself. I was referring to my food issues and have never ever made a comment or judged somebody else's psychological disorders. With this being about weight and weight loss challenges I thought I was safe. Thanks for the info, I'll know now to let the Dr know that after 8 years of research I have very realistic expectations of what this surgery can do.

    Psychological Evaluation Done

Thanks Border for understanding. I guess it is a fear of the unknown when it comes to that particular doctor visit as well as having to pay someone to judge us for any psychological fitness. Know what I mean? It's already difficult when people are judging us for weight gain and then this, it's just another difficult appointment that I have dreaded. I will be calling Monday to make my appointment but now I think I will have a little more confidence when I go. Good luck Border.
  6. SCosta, your boss doesn't seem very supportive. When you say you can't take off in the winter, what months exactly is he meaning. Depending on how you recover from the surgery and what kind of work you do you could possibly go back to work after a couple of weeds so that really is not much time at all. Maybe your boss thinks you will need 6 weeks off which from what I hear, is not really the case. Open up some dialog and see what his fears actually are.

    Psychological Evaluation Done

Congratulations. You are a bit further than I am. I have got to make my psyche appointment. I will try to get to that next week. What should I expect? I feel funny having to go for a psyche evaluation. I'm not crazy...I'm just fat. I love to cook, I love to eat and I self medicate with food rather than drugs or alcohol. Do they ever find people psychologically unfit to have weight loss surgery? I have stressed more over this part than the surgery itself. LOL I have BCBS as well but mine is the Federal plan. I am currently on my 3 month medically supervised diet. I have been told that BCBS generally sends the approval back within 2 weeks if all of the requirements have been met but since I have not gotten that far, I can't say it with any authority.
  8. My surgery is tentatively scheduled for February but I still have not done all my pre-op tests so I doubt that mine will happen then. I guess I need to call doctor's office but I feel like I have fallen through the cracks as I have not been having any contact with anyone from the surgeons office. What do y'all think?

    Mississippi Sleevers

Hi Jscrimpshire, How have you been doing on the diet since your sleeve? 4 1/2 months out... are you used to the small meals and tons of water yet? How long did it take to get on real food? Did you have to do a medically supervised diet to get approved? Look forward to hearing from you.

    Mississippi Sleevers

Hi Lady H, I bet you are excited since your orientation is Tuesday. Since I'm pretty new there isn't much advice I can give you but may there will be some solidarity in the fact that we are both in a close time line. Ask lots of questions, take notes and refer to them because I have forgotten a lot of things they have told me. My blood work came back good and they just told me to start taking Vitamin D-3. I have BCBS and have to do a 3 month pre-diet before I can even plan surgery. Of course I had to go ahead and pay my down payment but ... that's about it. Such a pain. Let me know how your orientation goes. BTW... I am going for the sleeve, what about you? Good luck.

My Surgery Is At 1Pm Today!

Good luck Adam. By the time you read my post you will have been sleeved. Hope all went well and that you are feeling fabulous. Be sure to follow the advice of the ones who have already been sleeved. They really seem to give good advice. Wishing you a quick recovery from your surgery and an easy adjustment to the new eating plan. Can't wait for my turn.

    New And Hoping For January

Hi Missyt. I am pretty new myself and hoping for a February Date. I am tentatively scheduled for Feb 11th but I still have a lot of things to get done to meet the insurance requirements so I guess it will happen when it happens. I am currently on the supervised weight loss required by the Insurance company. This is a long slow process and though some people think it passes quickly... I feel like I'm on the slow roll. Good luck with everything and hope to see you around the boards.
  14. Congratulations for overcoming your past and not allowing it to control your future. It is a powerful story and I admire you for having the strength to put it out there for God and everyone to see. You have faced your demons and now you know how to fight them. Keep up the good work and I wish you love, success and happiness. Thank you for sharing.

    I just can't believe it!

I also have BCBS and my policy states those same requirements. Don't give up...get mad. Take charge of your own health plans and make sure the doctor's office gets all of those requirement met. Your physician has many more patients with that same insurance so they must know what information they are needing. Pull yourself together and don't take no for an answer. Call the Drs office every day. If they don't call you back, write them a letter. Make yourself heard. If everything fails, get your money back from them and go to Mexico for your surgery. If you want it badly enough, you will find the way.

    One Year Surgiversary With Pic

Yayyyy. Congratulations and Happy 1 yr sleeved. You have done an amazing job and you are just adorable. Keep up the good work.
  19. Lyndsey, thank you for sharing your sister's story. I am so sorry for your loss, I know you will miss her terribly for the rest of your life. We all tend to focus on the size, weight, and health possibilities and seem to forget about the very real and very serious complications that can come with any surgery. I wish things had been different for your sister as she deserved so much better. She was beautiful and I know you are so proud of her. I hope you will celebrate your victories as her victories. May her memory be eternal. Sending Hugs.

Help Me Through This Break Up

Glad to hear you are reaching out and doing something constructive to help you get over the break up. Change is always hard, regardless if we wanted or needed it, but change always opens up other opportunities. When I was a much younger woman my dad always used to tell me not to measure my worth by the man I had on my arm. It seemed so corny back in my younger years but I am here to tell you... it is good advice. You need to be the best person you can be...with or without a man. Enjoy your girlfriends... make new friends and go about the business of enjoying life and trying new things. There will always be some good memories of this man but that doesn't mean he is good for you. Take charge and put positivity and wonderment in your path of life. Good luck to you.

    Emotional Eating

Thank goodness your daughter and her beautiful family are safe. I am a stress and emotional eater so I know where you are coming from. You are correct. Breaking the diet and eating things you shouldn't will not help your daughter nor will they help you. Change your thought process on this. Think that sticking to the plan will make you healthy and that health will get you a chance to visit with your daughter and her family. Stay focused and pray for those who suffered major losses in the tornados. Good luck in your struggles.

    Marriage Problems 2 Mo. Out

Everyone loves to feel that blood surging through their veins. The mental picture of ourselves with someone exciting and perfect is always so much better than the one with our spouse where we remember all the warts and scars. Just a few words of advice from me.... DON'T DO IT. Your husband has already proven himself to be a rock and to love you through thick and thin... He is not perfect and neither are you. If you want changes ... make some changes within your marriage and draw your husband out in to some conversations. You may be surprised what you will learn. This new man has thrown his spouse and marriage away in search of perfection. Do you really think you can fill that bill? Keep the fantasy in your mind... where it belongs.
