Mine is in 12 hours too Jpov. Let's get this party started. -
Hello I am new here !
1Day1Life4Now replied to VSGJenny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with you Gman. Wish I had taken the time to come up with a more creative moniker. Oh well, this one works. Hi Jenny and welcome. Come in and make yourself at home. Most everyone here is friendly and supportive. You will occasionally come across a curmudgeon but they are far and few between. I have learned so much from this forum and I credit it for my preparation and readiness for my surgery. BTW, I am having my surgery Monday the 10th. (Tomorrow) I am so excited and feel like all of these people will be supportive and provide us the answers we need. -

1Day1Life4Now replied to SandeeD's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You bet we're doing it!!! And we are going to look MAUVALOUS DAULING. Well, it might take 6 months but we will!! Sandy I'm so happy to hear you got a surgery date for this month. My date is tomorrow the 10th and I think there are quite a few of us having surgery tomorrow. I'm sure there will be wide range of experiences but I know we will all do well. Get started on all your pre-op stuff and I wish you lots of luck. -
Monday, February 10th...my big day.
1Day1Life4Now replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ree REE, Jencovi and Lynn, I will be praying for all of y'all too. Like you I am nervous and excited but I really want to get this party started so I can start losing and the sooner I get started the sooner I will be eating real food again. I am going to Greece this summer and I want to be able to eat real food when I get there. I certainly don't want to be on a pureed diet when I am out of the country. How hard would that be??? Any way... I'm at 8:45 am in the morning and sounds like the rest of you have surgery at 10. I'm in Mississippi (Central time) so there will be the time difference too. I think we are 3 hours ahead of California, right? Marie, please text me send me your phone number again in a private message. I can't seem to find it. Good luck everyone. -
Monday, February 10th...my big day.
1Day1Life4Now replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi ONE MORE TIME, I will definitely be praying for you tonight and in the morning. My surgery is at 8:45. I have to be at the hospital at 6 am. I will be the second person to be sleeved. (There are only two of us on the 10th so we should be getting extra special care). Remember, God will be watching over you and wants you to be healthy as much as you want it. He says our bodies are a temple so you know He's not going to let anything bad happen to that temple. Looking forward to sharing this journey with so many fine people. -
I am being sleeved on Monday. My post-op diet is one week of clear liquids, one week of full liquids, then 2 weeks or pureed food. Then 2 weeks of soft foods. Then solids.

What is this 5:2 Diet?
1Day1Life4Now replied to persiankity33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
good question. I don't know what any of it is so would love to hear a good explanation. thanks -
Hi Bill, I'm not a man but thought I'd reply anyway. This topic comes up quite often in this forum and you will find a mix of responses. Like you, I have chosen to tell nobody except my husband and my daughter. I've noteven told my office anything, I'm just taking a week off of work. Like you said its a private matter and with the HIPA laws now, we shouldn't have to share with anyone right? I chose not to because I didn't want people judging me, either positively or negatively. I have my reasons for having this surgery and I don't think I should have to share those with friends or relatives. I have heard from others who wish they had not told people and there are a few who told everyone they knew and got lots of support back. Of course one can never know what they say when they are not within earshot of us either. Anyway, that is just my 2 cents on the matter. When I want to share, I come to this forum where I can enjoy others posts, get information, and ask questions. Good luck to you. I'm getting sleeved Monday.

SEE YOU ALL IN 2 Weeks! Headed for Mexico
1Day1Life4Now replied to Christian Zaccone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What's happening in Mexico? Hurry back. -
I have heard that artificial sweetners can slow weight loss but never heard it about Splenda. My Surgeon recommends only Splenda or Stevia.

Trouble getting all my liquids in
1Day1Life4Now replied to jlong007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like you are doing fine so close to surgery. It will get easier and you will then be able to get all of your liquids in. As long as you are staying hydrated, you should be on schedule. Those popsicles are counted with fluid so try those too. Sounds like you are doing very well. Good luck. -
What kind of test does the Gastroenterologist do to clear some one for surgery?
1Day1Life4Now replied to willjr4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had to go the Gastroenterologist for an upper GI and a colonoscopy. Good thing because I had two polyps in the colon and 5 in my stomach. Those were removed and found to be non cancerous but had they stayed it could have changed. I also went to the Cardiologist for my EKG, ECG and to get a clearance and additionally I had to get cleared by the Pulmanologist because of my sleep apnea. It's better that they check everything to prevent complications. These doctors won't hold up the surgery unless you have an issue so just be glad about that. It will all happen. Good luck in your journey. -
The pre-op struggles and feelings: Im tired of being fat...DAMN
1Day1Life4Now replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Ready, Like you I started out the same way. Every evening when I got home from work I obsessed over these videos. I read on line posts, and I found a couple of books on WLS. I would wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it and it was the first thing on my mind when I got up in the morning. To say "obsessed" was an understatement. As my husband pointed out...it was a good obsession because it motivated me to get the facts from multiple sources before making a life changing decision. It has all paid off in the fact that the pre-surgery time has seemed to fly by and I'll be going into surgery on Monday. I am so looking forward to a thinner, healthier and happier year as well as the same for the rest of my life. I am ready to put the work into it. Its like a dream come true for me. I wish you luck. -

Great job. Don't think I would be brave enough for the Korean Spa but may consider something similar. You look great and thanks for the video. -
starting to get cold feet
1Day1Life4Now replied to Lulusmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Monday as well. I had my pre-admit appointment at the hospital today but I'm not getting cold feet. I am so ready for this to happen. I'm tired of being fat. Tired of having to pay extra money for larger size clothing, shoes and jewelry. Tired of not being able to cross my legs. Tired of not being able to buckle the seat belt on the plane. Tired of hurting when I bend over to tie my shoes. I am tired of the lack of sleep I get due to snoring/sleep apnea. Im tired of being tired. With the upcoming weight loss... I am going to feel better, I am going to exercise, and I'm going to feel good about my self again. Yep... I'm ready for Monday and no cold feet for me. I've had about 10 surgeries in my life and came through all of them with no problems. I don't anticipate having any problems with this one either. I have selected an excellent facility and an excellent surgeon. I got this one. -

Day 1 Liquid Diet
1Day1Life4Now replied to LaurenB8604's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lauren, I'm on mine too. My surgery is Monday the 10th of feb; The liquid diet is totally worth the opportunity. I've been waiting a long time for this. So excited. -
very confused
1Day1Life4Now replied to vincereautmori's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre-op, My surgery date is Feb. 10th. :-) I can't wait. I started researching WLS about 10 years ago and at that time the only things being offered were the RNY and the lap band. The RNY seemed so drastic and the lap band did not seem appealing to me at all. I didn't relish the thought of that port being visible to others and the thought of all of that maintenance was just too much to think about, not to mention the cost involved. Over the years I attended a number of seminars at different hospitals and with various surgeons. I just wasn't ready to pull the trigger I guess. Then last year while researching weight loss programs I came upon information about the sleeve. I started reading everything I could about it in books and on the internet. I looked at videos on the internet and I thought it was the best solution for me. By the time I could get an appointment with the surgeon to discuss it, months and months had passed by but she told me she was glad I was interested in the sleeve as she had decided to discontinue performing the lap band procedure due to all of the complications involved. I was sold again. Anyway, I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the sleeve and the before and after photos and videos Ive seen on the internet are amazing. Anyway... good luck in which ever one you choose. -
Tell me about your required pre-op diet
1Day1Life4Now replied to Jen40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your pre-op sounds just like mine. -
Hi Jodi. Your first step, if you haven't already done so, is to call one or all of the surgeons and find out when there is a seminar. Go to the seminar and they will answer a lot of questions you may have. Find some other patients and find out who likes which doctor and why. I used the Nutritionist at my surgeon's office for my 3 month supervised diet as well. Some insurance companies will accept Weight Watchers but mine said it had to be supervised by a Doctor/Nutritionist. My surgeon's office gave me a list of what would happen in each stage. Congratulations for making the first step and I hope it all works out well for you.
