    Feelin' sorry for myself

Hi Jazzy, Sorry to hear you are going through some rough times. It will get better. I wish you were closer to me, I could and would be glad to assist you. Do you have a mom, sister, cousin that would be willing to fly out and help you for a week? If not, getting a student nurse will be your best option. Though this is a great surgery, its not easy. Do a lot of planning, have your house and laundry in order ahead of time and do your grocery shopping so you have everything you need for you and your son. Also have your prescriptions filled in advance. Important... have a notebook with you at hospital. Write everything down they tell you when they tell you because if you don't write it down you will forget, the anesthesia makes you very forgetful. I don't know what your religious views are but churches are a wonderful place to meet people and build support relationships. It would also be good for your son. This Sunday visit a church or ask a coworker where you should go. I never would have dreamed Nebraska had such mean kids. I thought that happened in places like New York, New Jersey or California. Oh well, one never knows. Good luck to you and hope to see your progress on this site. We're all friends and support group for you here if and when you need us.

    Unsupportive sister[emoji35]

Like most things we try to accomplish in life, it's a personal journey and life style NOT A COMPETITION. Tell her to join a sports team if she wants to compete that badly. Lose at your own rate, sometimes slower is better. Just stick with it. I've lost 80 lbs but still have a difficult time getting boots to fit my calves. It may never happen but I can wear the hell out of some cute ankle boots. Go for it. You will get there.
  3. I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery 2 1/2 years ago and I lost 70 pounds. I've kept the weight off and love my sleeve but I suffer from severe Acid Reflux. My doctor has advised that I need a revision to the RNY. Has anybody else had this??? I'm scared about having surgery again and starting all over again. Is the weight loss similar to what it was at the beginning of the sleeve? Is eating more difficult with the RNY? I don't know what to expect and I'm getting a bit nervous. If anybody could shed some light on how its been I would appreciate it.
  4. Congratulations on your success, you have been doing well. There are lots of powdered Proteins out there but my favorite is the unjury. You can get flavored or unflavored. They have their own website.
  5. I should still be upping my calories. I'm getting about 7-800 calories per day and I would prefer to be closer to 1000. I eat chili from Wendy's 3-4 times per week and the fiber keeps me regular. That Wendy's chili is actually quite healthy other than the salt. I love the Wendy's Chili too and I add a bit more salt. I have low blood pressure so I have to add more salt to my diet to keep my bp up. It's like the perfect food.

    My first rant

Ohhh hell no. I hope you told your surgeon about this nurse at the hospital. I have to say my surgeon rules her kingdom. The nursing staff has to address our pain and we are supposed to get whatever meds we need if we are in pain. The nurses have to check on the bariatric patients every hour without being called. I was brought the wrong food tray twice while in the hospital this last time and my surgeon flipped her lid and called the nursing staff and the kitchen staff on the carpet for it. If a nurse is shaming a bariatric patient they have no business working on that floor. That person needs to be reported and relocated.

    Head hunger

I found cooking things in the slow cooker all day so it was ready when he got home helped. That way, they could eat and I could drink my Protein shake and not be tempted during the prep process. I cook by tasting so that's another reason the slow cooker works well for me.
  8. These are my feelings exactly. People judge you when you are obese and when you try to get help and support they're judging again? I got a pass because I had "medical issues". Well someone that has a an emotional or mental issue with eating still has a medical issue and I'm not going to judge them because I know it is not helpful. I think some people on the board have forgotten how it feels to be judged.

Awesome that is good to hear you are home and healing. I know this process will be rough for me but definitely ready. Still no regrets just can't take the oain anymore. Dec 27th is my revision date ! Sent from my Z981 using the BariatricPal App Your day is coming in just a couple of weeks. I wish you a lot of luck. I'm 61 so I think the surgery was a little more difficult for me. You should do fine..

    Head hunger

I know what you mean but you will get through it. For now maybe you could do something else while your husband eats his meals so you won't be so teased. It's difficult to see and smell that food so distance helps.

    No One In The Sixties?

That's a good thing because you would end up coming in later and having another surgery to remove your gall bladder. Just better to do it all at once. I had Sleeve surgery 3 years ago but due to problems I had to have the bypass surgery on Nov 14th. I'm 61 so it's not as easy the second time around but over all it's not too bad. I wish you lots of luck.
  12. are you watching your sodium intake? You may need to increase your Fluid intake to help your kidneys flush the fluid
  13. I read each and every posts. I realize they were giving a pass to the medically necessary revision. My point was that some people were still coming across as very judgmental. Just not an attractive thing for this type of board.

Just got revision from sleeve to bypass!

I was sleeved in February of 2014 and had my revision to RNY on Nov 14th, 2016, My GERD was so severe that even water gave me heartburn. Acid was always coming up into my esophaugus causing me to choke and cough. I had to carry a bronchial dialater with me everywhere. I had taken so much medication and it was no longer working for me. My surgeon was afraid I was developing ulcers and the possibility of cancer was increasing. She talked me into having the RNY. I had a few problems with it and ended up staying in the hospital for a week. I've been home for a week and a half and still having complications. Definitely not as easy as the sleeve was. The good thing is....not one it of reflux or heartburn and I no longer wake up at night choking. I had no problem getting the insurance to approve the revision since it was for health issues. My surgeon's office handled everything and the approval went through in a week. Good luck.
  15. I feel like this particular board is being a bit judgmental. I had revision surgery two weeks ago from the Sleeve to RNY, For the record, I did not want to have revision surgery (who would????) but due to severe GERD and Rheumatoid Arthritis i had no choice. For my health it was necessary. I loved my sleeve and never wanted anything different, now dealing with the RNY is different and will be for the rest of my life. Being obese, we were always being judged by others and this forum is supposed to be our "safe place" but it doesn't seem very safe for some people.. Different surgeries work for different people and some don't work as well or at all. Our pouches are tools and those tools can fail regardless of how well someone is informed or how well they are sticking to their diets. Yes there are some people with food addictions or other issues that prevent them from following the plan. But to suggest because they have not been fully compliant they shouldn't be allowed an additional surgery in hopes that the new surgery could help them, is a bit cruel and selfish. Once you are a few years out from surgery your perspectives may change. I wish everyone good health and weight loss and know that any issues you have are just as valid as anyone else's.

Wanna know if ur getting these too

Hi Susan, I haven't experienced this but wanted you to know that I was thi king of you and wish you the best. I hope your dr visit is this coming Thursday, if not go to the ER. That pain doesn't sound right.
  18. I had surgery on Nov 14th, revision of sleeve to gastric bypass. I had a couple of complications and ended up staying in the hospital for a week. I am at home recovering and doing fairly well but bored with my diet. The problem is I have broken out in an itchy burning rash on my breast and stomach. I shouldn't have scratched but I did and parts of the rash are very raw. I can't wear a bra and I'm so uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem? What do I do???? I'd appreciate any advice.
  19. Thank you Victorande, I will call Doctor tomorrow. I have a check up on Wednesday but I need relief sooner.

Just got revision from sleeve to bypass!

Yes, I had my revision on Monday Nov 14th. This isn't as easy as the Sleeve and my incisions are bothering me more this time. I had a rough start in the hospital due to some complications but i think I'm getting much better. I'm supposd to go to work on Tuesday but don't think I am quite up to it yet. Thanksgiving was difficult.... I felt so left out, and hungry but I guess its worth it. I had the surgery to cure my severe GERD and it seems to have helped. Hope everyone else is doing well. Let me know when we get our own page.

    November RNY Surgery Buddies 2016

Hi Heather, my surgery was also on the 24th. I am so glad its over. I still don't have my strength back and find it difficult to walk too far but I know I'm healing. Thanksgiving day has been difficult...but I'll survive. Two of my incisions are still pretty painful and make it difficult to get up from a sitting or lying position. I have to say, I am very hungry and can't wait till I can have real food to eat. So how are you doing???
