Hi Spicegrrl, You definitely need to ask your doc to give you a local anesthesia shot prior to the fill. The anesthesia needle my Dr. uses for this is tiny and I barely feel it. He did have to dig around a bit last time for the actual fill but all I felt was a little pressure. Please don't give up! Hopefully the fills will get better for you and the results will make you forget about it! :blushing:

November Nymphs Lets Talk Weight Loss!
sanderro replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is so good to see everyone doing well! I had surgery on 11/30 and I've lost 17 pounds so far. I have my first fill on 1/11 and I can't wait! Hope everyone has a wonderful and Blessed New Year! -
Hi Everyone... I'm getting ready to go to the hospital for my surgery. I'm so excited but a bit nervous. I was originally scheduled for surgery on 11/1 but my surgeon had to cancel - I had to wait another 29 days but it will be worth it. I can't wait to start losing! Good luck to you all!

Debbie & Wendy: Thanks for the warm wishes! I am glad to have it over with. I ended up staying the night at the hospital because I had a hard time waking up from anesthesia. I normally bounce right out of it but they must've really put me under. I just got home and I am in hardly any pain, just the gas/bloating in my upper abdomen. How long does that take to go away and is there anything I can do to speed that up? Robin

Yesterday I had my pre-op appointment with the doctor...my surgery is November 1st!! We just talked a bit and he took my before pictures. I then had an hour long session with the nutritionist. My doc requires 2 weeks liquids post op and then 2 weeks mushy. My doc didn't require a liquid diet prior to surgery but he did ask me not to binge and have my "last supper" every meal. He says doing this can enlarge the liver making the surgery harder for him and more risky for me. The nutritionist gave me a sample of liquid protein called Proteinex. It has 18 grams of serving and can just be mixed with a little water. She says it great for someone having problems getting enough protein in a day. Anyone heard of this?

Pattypoo - Nov 1 seems to be a good date! How long do you have to do the Optifast? Nessa - I know what you mean about holding your head high afterwards. I have a job where I travel every week and I dread seeing the looks of the passengers who realized they are sitting next to a fat person on the plane. I can't wait to be skinny...I promise you that I will never ignore the overweight person in the seat next to me! Life will be sooo good afterwards!!

I just got approved! My surgery date is November 1st with Dr. Brad Ray in Bloomington, IN. I having been going thru the insurance approval for 1 year (2 different insurance companies). I am so excited that I am approved...I can't wait to get started. I still have to have the visit with the nutritionist and I already had the psych checkup. Only thing after the nutritionist is the pre-op appointments!! Yippeee....
