Help! Humana with WLS exclusion
WJE626 replied to Lindel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried by going to the doctor after my insurance said that wls was excluded. The office said it was covered. The day before surgery they called and said they gave a last call to insurance and denied me. That was to get the lapband back in February. I paid off all my cc and opened an account under care credit and did self pay 4 weeks ago with the sleeve -
How much did you lose your first 2weeks?
WJE626 replied to Adora2150's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost 24 lbs so far. I'm at a stall right now for 3 days straight. I have been getting enough Water and working my Protein up. I do better with eating my protein rather than drinking it I am 18 days out. I think I just need to get back to the gym. On Tuesday my exact 3 weeks I'm ok'ed for weights. How many calories should we be eating? -
What did you tell people?!?!?
WJE626 replied to LeahJade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also very lucky. My coworkers in my dept are very supportive. I did not tell others until after surgery only because I was supposed to have surgery once before and it fell through -

I didn't have headaches but I has esophagus spasms. Felt like someone was sets king me in the chest every time I ate or drank anything Hope you feel better -
Never thought I would be so thrilled to eat chicken. I am 2 weeks post op. Moved to soft diet but have already been eating egg whites for a couple of days. I asked my doctor if I can eat the chicken in chicken noodle Soup and he said it was fine as long as chopped moist and chew it really small like the chicken in the soup. Yayyyyy

Pre surgery I basically only ate chicken for meat. Tried it. Not so bad

How do you stop losing weight?
WJE626 replied to Lioness813's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was just sleeved by dr. Abkin in florham park, nj. He also has an office by JFK in Edison so that is where I am going for me post ops. My friends who are all skinny were against it. My family was for it after I talked them into it. My family has seen me struggle with EVERY diet, diet pills, going to the gym 4 times a week and all the yo yo dieting. So they knew my pain and were behind me 100%. As for my friends I told them after. I'm am 2 weeks post op and have lost 20lbs. This was a long journey as I tried for the lapband in February but my insurance denied me and I decided to sleeve because I am self pay and no maintenance -
We have dinner together every night at the dinner table. I'm post op 9 days. My family eats one thing while I eat a soup lol. It's soooo hard. I feel your pain.

I read somewhere that spicy foods cause acid reflux. I've never had acid reflux until I was sleeved. I do think within months we can eat what we want just in little portions. But always check with your doc/nut first

Spoke to the doctor. I'm having esophagus spasms which is pretty common. Great. No fever above 100 and wants me to check back with him tomorrow. -

I always drank water so that's no problem. It's these chills along with the pain I'm worried about -
Baby Shower What to Wear?
WJE626 replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
As long as your comfortable that's all that matters. I was actually able to find a nice outfit in motherhood for plus size. That was also 5 years ago lol. Good luck -
Please add me as well. Ecua626sf@aol.com I was sleeved on October 8th

october 7th and horrible pain
WJE626 replied to sassymommy2three's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm October 8th and still have pain in the middle of my chest. It's like major heartburn I guess?? I've never had heartburn before. I was able to eat my first sugar free pudding a little bit ago and now have the runs. I know tmi. I'm ok with the incision points but this heartburn is the worst. Trying to keep hydrated. Have only been able to drink about 2 bottles of Water (if that) everyday. After 4 hours of taking percoset, I get the chills and the pain comes back. I have learned that after 20 minutes of taking the pain meds, I can get most sips of water in as well as my Vitamins. And then of course I'm not freezing anymore. How are you feeling? -
Just was sleeved October 8, 2013. So far the incision sites are bearable, but the heart burn is too painful. I can't keep anything down. Trying to stay hydrated but almost always give me pain or comes up. I had it here done in florham park, in nj. Hopefully tomorrow's a better day the pain wil subside

Baby Shower What to Wear?
WJE626 replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Baby doll blouse with gauchos or any dressy pants. I had to wear flip flops because my ankles were so swollen, but at least they were dressy type. I'm Latina too and my family ALWAYS gets dressed up. -
I did everything for Cigna. Did the 3 months weight check in. Seen a nut. A psychologist, etc everything. The doctors office called 3 times to Cigna to make sure I was covered. I was scheduled for lapband February 22. On February 21 the doctors office called to tell me my surgery time, they called 5 minutes later to state my insurance didn't cover it. I called Cigna and they said the policy was set by my employer and they didn't cover it. 8 months later I decided to go with the sleeve since there is less maintenance and I had to pay out of pocket. I had my procedure yesterday October 8th and paid for it via care credit. It was a long process but it what I wanted. Good luck to anyone with Cigna because all they did was give me the run around
