December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
L-in-NJ replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here Andrew. We just have to go thru the process as our bodies adjust. I'm just going to keep following my plan. I know it won't last forever. -
I had to use listerine to help with that. It wasn't as bad after swishing around with it. It will get better with time.

*Gastric sleeve diet* (without surgery)
L-in-NJ replied to Maccurdyerica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well said feedyoureye. The person who posted this is not trying look down on anyone who's had surgery. She stated that it's just not affordable for her at this time. I know I wouldn't be able to afford the surgery if my insurance didn't cover the majority of it. She came here looking for advice. If you don't have anything constructive it's not that hard to move on to the next post. -
The slimes.... can anyone explain them?
L-in-NJ replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank God for this post because I had a case of them yesterday. I think I ate a little too much in one sitting. I felt so sick and then after about 45 minutes it resolved. I never want to feel like that again!!! -
How long were you sore after surgery?
L-in-NJ replied to hpendleton0126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. I was off my pain meds in 2 days. I had incision pain for about 8-9 days. When I went back for my 2 week post op appt my surgeon looked at my incisions and said "Wow you heal quick!". I was able to sleep on my side and stomach after about a week. Just hang in there it gets better. ???? -
. I just found your post. That sounds like a great idea. Thanks!!

I started the purée diet this week. I'm finding it hard to fit all my liquids in once I added real food. I'm full for like 3 hours and can't even begin to think about putting anything else in my stomach. I'm eating about 2-3oz per meal and have been eating 1-2 times per day. Maybe I just need to plan each meal better and or take eat less per meal so that I can get enough liquids. I just hoped to start getting my protein from food sources and rely less on the shakes. Any suggestions would be helpful.
-
Thanks mistysj. I have added at least one protein shake per day because I won't meet my protein goals without it. I'm also adding unflavored protein to some of the food. I'm not much in cottage cheese or at least I wasn't a long time ago. Maybe I can give that a try.

Keep up the good work Nancy!!

I also had it but hey didn't find out until after I had surgery. When I went to my post op appt the doctor old me I tested positive and prescribed antibiotics. I don't know not it will affect your surgery since I had mine with it unknowingly. I think you should be fine though.
-
Thanks gamegirl. I'm really trying to plan my meals a lot better. I know it's all a matter of time and getting used to doing things a new way.
-
Nancy just take each day at a time. Thank you for your honesty. Sounds like you are still pushing through and that's wonderful. Try going for walks or finding an activity to keep your mind off food. This isn't an easy journey but the results are well worth it. Keep posting and reading the post on here if it helps you get thru. We are all here because of similar struggles so we know what you are going thru and are willing to support you any way we can. #teamNancy

My new life begins in 36 hours!

Getting on rides with my sons is something I'm also looking forward to as well. I'm almost 2 weeks post op and yesterday I went to my son's school winter concert. The seats had always been a snug fit but yesterday I sat comfortably. I was amazed at the difference already. It's ok to be a but nervous but it sounds like you see the big picture. Good luck on your surgery, recovery and new journey.
