Chewables make me so nauseous!
sarahbinalaska replied to sarahbinalaska's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good news! I went to GNC today and got their Women's Ultra Mega chewable multivitamin. It does not make me sick at all, PLUS it has thier beauty blend to support hair, skin, and nails which we all know is super important through this process as well! It's a mixed berry flavor, a little sour, but, I thought it was pretty good. -

I was given all my meds in pill/capsule form the day after surgery and have taken them that way since. -

Chewables make me so nauseous!

I don't knoe about Flinstones. My dr har certain requirements for my Vitamins and the Bariatric ones were the only ones I could find that met all those requirements as far as folic acid, Iron, zinc etc.... I did request samples beforehand and settled on the orange flavor, and they didn't make me nauseous at all pre-surgery. Something changed post surgery as a lot of things have. Just one of many changes you'll go through! -

Right? I am one week post op and boy, oh, boy. Talk about an emotional wreck. Up, down, up, down. At least I'm not as weepy as I was. Just edgy now. I don't feel like "myself." Someone told me it takes about six weeks to start feeling normal....what is your guys' experience? -

These chewable vitamins make me so nauseous! I have the Bariatric Advantage Orange flavor, of which I decided on from the numerous samples they sent me. I do deep breathing exercises to get through the temporary nausea, and it does pass, but....wow! I am one week post surgery and other than that....doing great! -

Thanks! I am pleased with how smoothly it's all gone so far! A small hiccup getting some CPAP supplies since we've switched to United Healthcare, but other than that it's been smooth sailing. The only thing I have been really disappointed in has been the Nutrition Clinic. Not sure the nutrionist is on board with the progam or not. Seems like she's just doing it because, well, the military's telling her she has to. If you gals have any advice, I 'd love to hear it! Did you get good nutrition counseling?

My hairdresser told me yesterday to use biotin. Also, I have been using Zinc pre surgery. My hairdresser also recommended using Nioxin shampoo which she has used before on her clients.

Me too, Sapphire...I am one week out from surgery and I am the most scared about the potential hair loss. However, I have had two kids and surgeries in the past with no real ill effects so, I am PRAYING that will be par for course with me.

I have read that a large part of the hair loss is the "shock" that the body goes through from the surgery. Also, anytime you lose weight rapidly, you will experience hair loss. I discussed this with my doctor because, well, I'm kind of paranoid about it all. He assured me that no, I will not go bald, as long as I keep up on my protein shakes (hair is made up of protein) and my vitamins. I have also been taking extra zinc pre-op to help strengthen it now. On a side note, it's spendy, but Viviscal promises to combat the anagen phase of hair loss which surgery and weight loss promote. I will probably start on that as soon as I get off the liquid phase of my diet. I do know of two ladies that had the surgery done and they had no hair loss whatsoever. It's a mystery.
