    First surgery

This was my second surgery, my first was a C-section in 2004. The sleeve was so much easier a recovery!! The main pain I had was in my shoulders. The doctors put some air in your abdomen to expand it and sometimes it settles in your shoulders. But that only lasted a couple of days and felt better with walking. My incisions, on the other hand, didn't hurt very much at all. The big one was sore, but that's to be expected. Good luck!

    Cottage cheese....?

I squished it against the top of my mouth with my tongue, LOL
  3. I order appetizers, soup, or (if they let you) off the child's menu. But I have been very open about my surgery, so everyone I dine out with already knows that I'm not going to eat much.

    Whats the deal with bread?

Agree with all above. That being said, you'll probably be able to eat it again in a few months - I couldn't eat it until I was about 9 or 10 months out.
  5. Love, love, love this post! Sounds like you're doing great! My tummy STILL makes those noises ... LOL
  6. A friend of mine that is a weightlifter said to try the whey matrix variety rather than the whey isolate - he said it mixes better and tastes better. The brands he recommended were BSN Syntha 6 and Muscle Farm Combat.

    Back to sliders

Just realized which forum this was in, LOL. My mom had her revision done last September - she had problems not leaning on sliders as well. I remember when she had the band she would keep chocolate bars on hand as well as things like ice cream and other things. She doesn't do that NOW with the sleeve, but it took her a while to get into that frame of mind.

    Back to sliders

I am a year out and still have trouble resisting sliders. For me that would be popcorn, crackers, chips, etc ... Curse you, darn carbs!!

I didn't touch the popcorn thread ... Not in the mood today, LOL.

    Nutribullet v. Magic bullet?

I loved my magic bullet. I never used the nutribullet, but I've heard awesome reports on it!
  11. I didn't have a pureed stage - we went from full liquids to soft foods. There are a lot of great options out there for this stage - beans, canned tuna, chili, etc. In fact, our episode this week was on this. Hope it helps:
  12. My husband has issues with weight. Not as bad as what I've had - he's only about 20 lbs overweight at the moment compared to my past 130 lbs over ... But he still has issues with eating. Once in a while he gets a wild hair to do something about it. Usually it's a short fast or juicing - both of which there is nothing wrong with, when done right. But this time his idea is simply insane, and I'm curious how it's going to pan out ... He's decided to mirror everything I eat for the next month. And I mean the food itself and the portion sizes. Now, I can eat more now than I could a year ago, but I'm still only eating about 3/4-1 C of food at a time ... He's used to a complete plate filled with 3 cups plus ... While I think it's a great idea - and it will hold me more accountable to what I'm supposed to be eating as well - I am not sure how successful he's going to be with this venture ... I would love to hear some thoughts on this! Have you heard of anyone trying this before?

    Constipation

Water water water water water!!! Can't stress that enough!! Also a little miralax every once in a while is quite helpful ...
  14. Good luck to you all! I don't know about the insurance, but if you've completed all the requirements there's no reason for them to not approve you! Welcome!

    My Birthday Cake :)

Aww, that's so sweet!! Happy Birthday!! I love kale chips - try making zucchini chips! Same process with thinly sliced zucchini. I like to toss them in parm after :-)
  16. Wow - okay, that is crazy. I would go to the store (wal mart, target, etc) and try some of their scales and see what they say ... One of those offices is OFF!!

    Enabling addictions

Oh girl, I agree whole heartedly with you on that!! I STILL have issues with food - and I have to watch every little bite otherwise I gain or stop losing. And I do agree that there comes a point when people allow themselves to "mess up" more than they should - again - GUILTY! I am having to start all over again on my own journey b/c I've fallen back into old routines by allowing myself to "go there". That once became twice, that twice became three times, and that three times became a daily routine. And I have to get better. I can't teach others and help them unless I do.
  18. When did you have surgery? At your weight it's not uncommon to lose up to 20 lbs in even a week's time.

    Sleeves and Martial Arts

    HA! Gotta love autocorrect ...
  20. But you can still start the "all natural" route now
  21. Weight fluctuates like you wouldn't believe depending on what we've eaten the day before, if it's "that time of the month" and other factors. One pound isn't much, so don't sweat it.
  22. WOW! That is a difference!!! Is there a difference in the types of scales that the doctor and the nutritionist are using? That's INSANE!

My Husband Must Be Crazy ...

Well, mine certainly will benefit from the weight loss, but I just don't know how he's going to stick with this, LOL! It's so nice to have someone that is supporting you like that, though! Ramen noodles? You can have ramen noodles??

    Oh, do please shut up!

    Hahaha you married Mama Kay!!

    Sleeves and Martial Arts

I just found this via the search engine - I was looking to talk to some people that have had experience with martial arts after the sleeve. My daughter and I just joined a local karate dojo. Our sensei told us that we won't necessarily lose weight from doing it, but that we would firm up. I am just over a year out and not at goal yet, and I still have a body fat apron that I am trying to get rid of. Has anyone had experience with this and lost the apron through this?
