Lipstick, you're totally right! I hibernated like a bear during my pre-op diet so I wouldn't have to deal with people! lol
-
Hey everybody, I'm getting so nervous! I just want it over with already! lol
-
Ok, so I've been on the pre-op diet for 12 days now (my surgery is on 2/25) and I've only lost 5 pounds. I kind of expected like 10 pounds at least. Does this mean that I'll be a slow loser?
-
I'm pre-op and having surgery on Tuesday, 2/25 and these past few days I have really been missing food. I've got 3 more days of the pre-op diet and I've been doing well but when I realize that I can't order Chinese food or pizza, I get very sad:( It's kind of like going through withdrawal I guess? It's like a knee jerk reaction that I want (and usually eat) certain things, then it's like oh, I can't:( It's kind scary thinking about post-op when I don't have my best friend FOOD to fall back on. What will I do?

I will One More Time, you do the same!

Dr. Mark Neff, Cherry Hill NJ...?
SandeeD replied to msjoy83's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Neff is with the same surgery group as my doctor (Dr. Boynton) and I hear nothing but good things about him. -
Thanks guys, your words are very encouraging. I guess I'm getting the "I'm two days away from surgery" jitters! One More Time, hey beautiful lady! YES, I'm all over the place because you're right, I definitely did my research and I'm a Youtube-a-holic! lol I love watching the videos, but I don't have the nerve to start me own weight loss blog/channel.

Vdub_tx I'm still cracking up over "Fishsticks? WTH?!" Lol Thank you guys, I don't know what I would do without this site. It's like having someone to talk to 24/7.

Hey there, another 2/25 sleeve sister here!

How about my surgery is on Tuesday and the hospital just called and told me that I have to pay my entire $2,000 deductible on Tuesday before surgery. After I freaked out, I told her I don't have it and that's not what I was told. She said, ok pay $250 and we'll bill you for the rest, but you can make a payment arrangement. Nowadays the hospitals are asking for the deductible up front because they've been stiffed too much by people who don't pay theirs. I understand, it's not charity, it's a business, but damn, springing that on people at the last minute is not cool. I know that I'm going to be getting loads of bills from the hospital, the anesthesiologist, the surgeon, etc., but I don't care. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is going to keep me from my surgery on Tuesday. I'll be paying bills until I die, but with this surgery I'll be paying bills much longer and that's ok with me:)

Pureed protein ideas?
SandeeD replied to *Glitter*In*The*Air*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
chicken Liver Pate Ingredients: 1 Onion 2 Carrots 2 Tubs Chicken Liver 4 Strips of Goodshall’s Turkey Bacon (cooked) 1 Cup Chicken broth (only use what’s needed) Salt, Pepper, Garlic powder (to taste) Directions: Dice onion, combine it with two shredded carrots and saute them until onion is golden brown. Pan cook the bacon while the veggies are being sautéed. Take the onion and carrots out and use the same pan to saute about two tubs of chicken liver, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder while cooking. Once they are cooked, put the liver, the onions and the carrots into the food processor with the bacon. Then blend until it’s a creamy consistency. If it's too dry, add some of the chicken broth and blend again. Repeat until it’s the creamy consistency that you want. Put in small containers, freeze some and refrigerate some. Enjoy! Serving Size: 4 oz. Total Grams of Protein/Serving: 19 grams -
Has anyone tried Isopure Protein Drinks?
SandeeD replied to Aunt GG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If dirty butt crack had a flavor and a name, that would be Isopure.. I hate that I bought it, but I will not waste my money. I'm going to try mixing it with Crystal Light as someone here has suggested. Maybe that would help me to at least get it down. -
Good question BellaDonna. I have back issues, which has effected my balance and with all this weight I gave up heels some time ago. It would be a shame to have to give away all of those nice shoes I have.

Surgery 2/25/2018 ! 14-day pre-op diet
SandeeD replied to Dignity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Dignity, hang in there girl! You and I are on the exact same schedule, my surgery is also on 2/25 @ 11am (to be exact! lol) I'm 8 days in now on the pre-op diet. The first 3-4 days I thought I was going to eat my arm off. Now, I'm not even hungry really, just weak and a constant headache, but I'm chugging along. I had my pre-admissions testing yesterday, so now I'm just counting down the days, prepping my home for my recovery, and packing my bag. I have to do 3 shakes plus one meal a day. The meal is 4 oz Protein, 1 cup veggies, 1/2 cup whole grain (rice or pasta). During the day I drink, drink, drink as much as I can and trying different Protein drinks to see what I like (Isopure tastes like butt crack - in my opinion). My beverages include Water, lots of Crystal Light, herbal tea, and chicken broth. With the chicken broth I add some Mrs. Dash, black pepper, garlic and a teaspoon of powered skim milk and voila! you have cream of chicken Soup (well...sort of:). Do what you need to do (within your limits) to get the fluids in and stick to your diet. With regards to protein, I did something different this morning. I have some frozen fruit in the freezer for smoothies, so I took 1/2 of a small frozen banana and put it in my blender with 1 cup of water, 1 scoop of vanilla Protein powder, 2 teaspoons of powdered skim milk, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a splash of vanilla and 2 packets of splenda and it was ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY! I thought I was drinking a banana milk shake. I know, I know banana is not on the pre-op diet, but I don't think a little old banana is going to kill it either. Like I said, I'm doing what I need to do to keep from eating a pizza or something else crazy. Best wishes on your surgery next week. Yay for us!!!! -
Anyone had their gall bladder removed while being sleeved? Apparently, I have gall stones and am having my gall bladder removed at the same time that I'm sleeved. Will I be extra sore? Is the recuperation any different than just being sleeved? Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Has anyone tried Isopure Protein Drinks?
SandeeD replied to Aunt GG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried the Grape Frost today and the taste cannot be described...it's just that bad to me, but I choked it down. I bought a six pack of the little bottles and I'm going to drink them because I will not waste my money. -
I'm like the little engine that could:)
SandeeD posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm halfway through my pre-op diet and I have my pre-admissions testing this afternoon. I'm actually not hungry. I've gotten used to the 3 shakes and 1 bland meal routine. I'm just feeling so darn weak. I think I might weigh myself tomorrow (after I drink some Smooth Move tea tonight:). I'm just chugging along... -
Maybe after you crush it make a little paste with a tablespoon of unsweetened applesauce, it might go down easier?

I, like most of us here, have many reasons for wanting (and needing) to lose the weight. In addition to the typical comorbidities (i.e. high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and asthma), I also have an almost debilitating spinal condition, permanent nerve damage in my spinal cord. I had an accidental fall in a bath tub some years ago that I thought at the time was a non-issue, but over the years the after effects slowly but surely began to take hold of my body (neck pain, excruciating back pain, sometimes numbness/weakness in my legs and arms, etc.). Walking up the stairs in a normally manner became a problem and then walking itself became difficult and I was forced to begin using a cane (which I’m still in denial about – I have become an expert at holding on to objects, walls, and people to keep me from becoming unbalanced and possibly falling). After years of being misdiagnosed (myasthenia gravis, MS, Lyme Disease), I was finally diagnosed with nerve damage of the spinal cord, which I was told is permanent. So, in addition to being in pain 100% of the time over the years and not being able to do much in terms of exercising, I was slowly adding on the pounds…230 pounds on my 5’ 2 ½” medium framed body. My turning point was I thought about being in my home and a fire breaking out and not being able to quickly get out. That scares me much more than going under the knife. I’m having the surgery on 2/25/14 and I’m never looking back, only forward. Following are some of the things that I am looking forward to being able to do post-op: Walk without the use of my cane or assistance from others. Walk up the stairs like a normal person. Walk long distances without tiring so easily, hell, maybe I’ll be able to run – am I expecting too much? Wake up in the morning and being able to honestly say that I feel good. Being able to sleep in any position besides my back. Be able to seat in any seat (no matter the height) and not struggle to get out of it. Not being the one that everyone has to wait for, help or make special accommodations for. Not be afraid to go certain places because of fear (are their steps? will I be able to sit comfortably? Is there a lot of walking?) These are just some of the things, and there are many more, but these are the ones most important to me. I’m going to begin putting this body back together again, get strong and live my best life starting now! I deserve it dammit!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm on da 4 or my 14 day pre-op diet. Not feeling like I want to chew my arm off anymore! lol I think I can do this!
-
Thank you Awold0, that's what the doctor said. I would have to have it taken out eventually, so I might as well get it out during the sleeve procedure. Be well and good luck with your gall bladder surgery .

I'm on my pre-op diet and sampling different protein powders. I've tried Unjury and Syntrax Matrix, and Syntrax Matrix is WINNING! (in my Charlie Sheen voice). I'm having the peanut butter now for breakfast, very yummy.
-
Yeah Curvy, I bought the Unjury sample packet and it came with the thermometer. I had two packets of chicken broth and I really screwed up one because the water was entirely too hot (forgot about the thermometer lol). It was gritty and nasty. I did the second one the right way and it was delicious, nice and creamy.
