I suspect its the same as if you are flying and find yourself in a stall. Just relax, let the pressure off the controls and let the nose ease forward. Sometimes the solution happens on its own. Otherwise....PANIC !

Anybody Else Cheating?
JollyG replied to MississippiQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Damn thats a good idea. It doesn't count as bulimia if i don't swallow though. right? Better pull the curtains just in case.... -
Anybody Else Cheating?
JollyG replied to MississippiQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes but I suspect you are not as alone in that naughty corner as some here would have you believe. You know what I cheated on? I never got no "Psych Eval". I figured if i did they would have refused my legitimate request to have 80% of my stomach removed. Or maybe they wouldn't have. Do I sound paranoid? -
Sleeping On Your Side Again?!
JollyG replied to a_gray_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept on my side from day one. Force of long married habit. I have no choice but to sleep on my side. Thats all i have room for on the far edge of the bed that my wife leaves me. She also tucks the blankets under herself so I am left with none. In winter I have to sleep in warm clothes. Mind you she does all this in her sleep and has no waking knowledge of it. She's lovely, really. Brrrrrr, i even feel cold in summer months now after my sleeve. -
The CO2 from the operation will be gone after even 1 day. What you have now is gas like a baby gets when it eats. You need to be burped. Best way is walking. Try not to gulp air when you drink. Small sips.

has anyone been sleeved that had 50-60 pounds to lose?
JollyG replied to nomorecupcakes's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It IS butterflies for me - feels like they are in my new wee stomach at times. Thats a better description than outright nausea. Anyway - i've list 30lbs including pre-op and now 2 weeks post surgery. To those who are worried: it's well worth it and the post op pain is minor. Go well everyone. -

Hope buy some of the chewable vitamins in Tijuana. But i really wanted to say - my wife is so mean - she has a large cupcake in the fridge which she plans to have for breakfast just before we leave for the plane in a few hrs time. I reckon i should leave it out for the birds and tell her I ate it. lol -
Will I always have to sip?
JollyG replied to skinnymolly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for this topic. I have 7 days before my surgery. Is it worth getting one of the new Water bottles that measures and records the Fluid consumed? Good health and fast recovery to you all. -
Protein Powders Drinks etc Aussies only
JollyG replied to mini.mee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
the only Protein powder i have tried is www.myopure.com.au whey protein concentrate they have other more expensive ones but i'm kinda on a budget they are in NSW somewhere - free shipping if you spend $100 it tastes OK to me - i add it to my fruit smoothies or just add vanilla and saccharine for a kinda milk shake - or cocoa to make a chocolate shake -

Depressed and disappointed in self
JollyG replied to caroline2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there Caroline - not long to go. I'm for 4th Nov and lately i've even felt better at the way (some) people look at me and treat me. Why? Coz its soon to be a thing of the past. So i'm kinda just looking on with detached feelings now. I have lots of health issues that will improve with this weight loss. I look to lose 90 -100 lb. I'm always hard on myself for waste and missed opportunity. In this case though, my timing ( and yours) is not too far off. 10 years ago or maybe even 5 they would have wanted to give me the Lapband. By waiting longer I have avoided that whole thing. Maybe it would have helped, but maybe just led to more worries. I have to remind myself often to look forward rather than back. Trust that the way has been prepared for me. That the time is right. Go well with your surgery and recovery and new life. -

Good post. I have 10 days till surgery. I'm BMI 40 but i could get lower on my own. For a while. I have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Exercise is hampered by 30 yrs arthritus ruining my feet. I think the Sleeve is ideal for preventing further health problems and improving the ones I have. Go well everyone. -

Shot down by insurance, guess that's that
JollyG replied to Healthygal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Australia, no insurance, will travel to Tijuana and be operated on by Dr Jaime Ponce de Leon - very experienced and well reputed - he will do Sleeve for $5300 US Going rate here is about $18000 - with no real guarantee it won't cost more for unforseens... -
Give me you surgeons ph number coz i'm telling on you.... lol
-
were you on blood pressure meds before surgery? i am - and i assume these will need to be tapered down as I lose weight also - i read about one guy in Australia who had some issues like this coz he tried to eat only twice a day ( work schedule) I hope you get through this patch soon Jolly

getting sleeved on 11/4.. how did your hometown dr. react to you getting sleeved in Mexico?
JollyG replied to nomorecupcakes's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
i'm going under on 4th Nov too my Dr here in Australia really wanted me to have the sleeve - but was much cooler on the idea of getting it in Mexico he was , however, amazed by the price difference yes - i see the posts about slow recoveries and adverse effects like this but i just hope that being careful with my pre and post op diet will see me dealt an easier hand... Go well, Jolly -
Hi sleevers, Does anyone have experience of an improvement in Fluid retention in ankles after weight loss? I'm told this is a long term result of high blood pressure. Something about the veins being weakened. What i'm kinda hoping is that less weight will help too, and it can't hurt my poor arthritic feet to carry less anyway. But i do hope there's an improvement in my veins ability to return fliud from the extremities. Damn I wish I'd been a good boy earlier.... Jolly

In the old days we used to take salt tablets ( working in desert sun in northern Australia). These days you might think of the electrolite fortified sports drinks that athletes use. I'm on diuretics for hypertension and Fluid retention - i guess there will come a time when my doctor reduces these to balance with my improving health.... One can always hope! Jolly
