It could be a yeast infection. I haven't had surgery yet, but I occasionally get them under my belly. I use lotrisone cream on them and try to keep the area as dry as possible. It's usually better in a week or so. I would try that. You should document this because your insurance might pay to have the excess skin removed. :-)

Sally, you are an inspiration for me. I still hope to have surgery sometime inMarch and am following your progress closely. Hope my recovery goes as well as yours. We "young" folks have to stick together. :-)

And I'm 65 years young.

Hello, I'm in Missouri, about 60 miles east of KC. I hope to have surgery sometime in March. I'm a bit nervous, but haven't backed out yet. Started my journey in Sep 13 and will have my last visit with dietitian next week. Hopefully, I'll find out more then because I've completed everything they wanted that I know about. There will be blood work and other pre-op tests to do, but I hope everything else is good! It's really nice to meet someone else in Missouri. I was born and raised here. How about you?

Sally, so good to hear you're home and doing well. I'm really scared about my surgery which will probably be in March. Keep us posted on your progress. Lots of warm wishes and hugs to you. (( )) Pat

eyoung, hope you recover quickly so you and your son can get back to your routine in your home. Your mom really means well and loves you both, but this situation is difficult for all of you. I'm not going to give you any advice just a sympathetic ear. Hang in there!

Keep your spirits up. I'll be praying all goes well, you have little pain and your recovery is swift! Pat

I have a neuro-stimulator which I got 3 years ago. I have also had back surgery due to bilateral synovial disk disease. I now have severe arthritis in my lower back which the stimulator does nothing for. All the stimulator helps now is the pain in my legs. Now I am having radiofrequency ablation to help with the arthritis pain so I will be able to exercise after I have gastric bypass surgery. So I understand what you're going thru. The WLS surgery will make it much easier on my knees and my back when I start doing more than walking. I am 65 so I imagine I am older than you.. If I had it to do again I wouldn't get the stimulator becus it only helped my back for about 6 months before the arthritis set in. The ablation is working, but the wls will help more. If I were you I would have the weight loss surgery because 183 lbs is a lot to lose and will take a long time. Wls will make it easier to lose the weight and quicker, but it will have to up to you in the end. I hope I haven't offended you, but I know how difficult it is to lose weight--iv'e probably lost (and regained) hundreds of lbs in my life. Hang in there and do what's right for you.

Hi ladies! I'm in Missouri and we're having beautiful weather today. I've seen the dietition 3 times so far and my last appt with her is 19 Feb. I've completed my psych eval, sleep study and met with the fitness guru. On 30 Jan I see my PCP and get my EKG. I've also been getting my mammogram and PAP out of the way. Haven't had any bloodwork done yet, but I'm getting closer and closer to Mar which is when my surgeon's nurse says my surgery will be. No date yet though. I'm getting really anxious to get this show on the road, but I'm also a little nervous. Shersun, wish I had your energy!

I'm so happy I found this group! All of you seem to be like me--I plan to live a longer, happier and healthier rest of my life. In my head I feel about 35-40, but my body needs some work. I have fibromyalgia and have had two back surgeries and the extra doesn't help either one! I am currently having radiofrequency ablation on my lower back to stop the pain I now have from arthritis--and it's working. :-D I am looking forward to being able to exercise again.:-) Pat

I am 65 and expect to have rny in March, no specific date yet. I'm so happy to find others in my age group. We can provide support to each other. I have been lurking on this site for months and this is the first time I've responded to any of the posts. I have learned so much here!

Hi this is the first time I've posted anything. My question is has anyone successfully got Medicare to pay for the sleeve surgery? My doctors office said Medicare said they would pay for the sleeve surgery however its been 6 months and I haven't paid a dime.
