when do you start to feel better?
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to morgan53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work in two weeks post op. I find when I was able to have real food...I felt better and had more entergy. I had to remember that my body went from injesting a huge amount each day down to next to nothing. I have received b-12 shots and B-12 supplements each day. I think that helped as well. It will get better but I kept the fatigue for two months. Best to you!! -

My last 4 can of diet pepsi
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to nancy264's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine was Coke Zero. I drank two 32 oz fountain drinks a day in addition to what I drank at home. I was certainly addicted to it. I haven't had any since 10/21/13 and have been fine. I even put a sip in my mouth the other day to keep my son's soda from running over....it tasted nasty!! Of course, I spit it out...no carbonation in this tummy! You will be fine. Best to you! -
If you can recall then please advise!

I had to go back to my doc in one week after surgery. I had lost 16 lbs! I must admit that I weigh too often now. I went from being obsessed with food to now being obsessed with the scale! -

Roo...I watch this show as well. I wanted to go kick her butt!! I felt so sorry for her son...he was pitiful. I'm with you...it made me mad, sick and ready to hit the ground running this morning myself. -
Day 8...and really struggling
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to PurpleKite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes...I had those feelings early on. I cried one day with depression of what I could not have... Now I am fine. I did view eating as an event. I would get excited about it. Now I just eat to stay alive...no longer an event or something to get excited about and that was a good thing for me. Best wishes to you... You will be better when you can have more variety. -

I'm going to have to agree with the gallbladder...mine did the same thing. Finally, it got so bad that I went to the ER for the second time and it was FULL of stones..they took it out the next day... -

Anyone who believes that this was an easy way out for us needs their heads examined!! I struggle EVERY day with my food demons. They are still there...I fight to keep them at bay. I certainly understand the drug addict or the alcoholic...except we still have to eat!! -

I've eaten a bit of ground meat, but no steak or pork chops. Even with ground meat I get that misrable feeling after a bite or two. I'm a little over two months out now. -

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I had a nice one that was not centered around food. Yay! I cooked for my family and ate what I was suppose to other than one piece of grand maw's fudge. I felt in control...which the sleeve has provided me for the first time in as long as I can remember. I am excited for the new year and new lease on life!! Best wishes to all my fellow sleevers!! -
Any self-pay Doctors in the States?
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to mona832's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia, Louisiana. The cash price is $9800, plus two nights in hotel in the area which was approximately $200. I have had zero problems. Best of luck to you! -
No Pre-Op Diet?!?!
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to gemgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

The "if You Can Do That, You Don't Need Surgery" Comment
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to Bronco0605's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Funny you should mention this....my boss told me before I had my surgery " Oh...I cannot believe you are doing this...I would never do this"...I didn't ask for her approval...just told her with FMLA papers in hand that I would be out for two weeks. I didn't need her approval or anyone else's for that matter. I got this! You will be fine and you are doing this for you...do not allow anyone to say ANYTHING negative to you! -
How Many Calories Should I Be Eating In A Day?
Terri Lynn1383837796 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This may be a question for my doctor but I was interested in what has worked for the veterans here. Thanks, Terri:) -
I was so a food addict. Thank God, three weeks out and now I just look to see what I have leftover in the fidge from the last meal I prepared and couldn't eat. Eating was an event to me in the past and being from the south...we eat about everything...happy, ...sad...celebration...funerals...doesn't matter. It is so nice today just to find something I can eat and then eat a half a cup or so and be ok. I am so excited for my future and to eat to live and not live to eat!!!

OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?
Terri Lynn1383837796 replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah...I think the scale has become my enemy! Just for a different reason now. I get up every morning and get on it which I know I shouldn't but can't help myself. I need to take it to a friend's house and go maybe once a week. On the upside...I feel great and have had zero problems. I didn't even need any pain meds after I left the surgery center on the day of the surgery. I am also off my blood pressure meds which was the only meds I was on. Thanks everyone for the encouragement...I hope to ramp up my walking this week!
