How are things? Did you get a date?
-
Just wanted to touch base with everyone. I had my revision on the 11th and the first couple of days were ROUGH. I stayed an extra day in the hospital due to nausea. I figured out I was nauseous due to pain meds, so I'm just taking Tylenol and doing fine. Once my drain was removed most of the pain/discomfort was gone. I know everyone says that each day gets a little better and it's actually true. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

I did the same thing in December. It has to be right for you. It's ok if it's not. Good luck to you!

CPAP or BPAP Machine for sleep apnea
kkrose replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have difficulty exhaling ask for an EPR ( exhalation pressure relief) or CFlex to be set. That can make a big difference. Nasal pillows can help big time with the claustrophobic feelings. There are also nasal masks as small as pillows if you don't like the pillows inside your nostrils. -
What size bougie was used?

During my consultation I brought up strictures as one my concerns. He said the larger bougie sizes have less of a chance of developing a stricture. -
It's totally normal. I was supposed to have it done in December and backed out. I'm scheduled now for March. I have wrote out a list of all the reasons why I'm doing this. When I panic and get anxiety over this, I read it. It calms me and reassures me I'm making the right decision for myself. I think it would be abnormal not to have fears.

Having my GS surgery in March
kkrose replied to Magician44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on 3-11! I was going to have it done back in December, but I wasn't ready. I've had a lot of time now to carefully think and prepare. Welcome and good luck to all of us! -

CPAP or BPAP Machine for sleep apnea
kkrose replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been a sleep tech for the past 10 years and I'll tell you everyone is different. It depends on whether you're a mouth breather or a nose. The full face masks ( for mouth breathers) have gotten sooo much better. My favorite go to full face is the Resmed Quattro FX. If you are a nose breather and don't like pillows up your nose, then Resmed has a new Swift FX Nano that is great. But make sure you "try before you buy" because you don't want to get stuck with a mask you don't like. If you hate your mask, you're gonna hate CPAP. -
Thank you everyone for your comments! You all were truly helpful!

Do you find that they are spicy? I'm pre-op still, and LOVE spicy, but I'm afraid of spicy with the sleeve.

soooooo nervous about up coming surgery!
kkrose replied to re14768's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine did. I was originally scheduled for December 2013. I got such cold feet that I cancelled my surgery. I'm back on now for 3-11-14. I think it's very normal to be scared. It's good that you're going into this fully aware of all possible outcomes. I spent a little too much time in the "complications" forum though, lol. It's ok if you're not ready yet too. I think at some point, like for me, the benefits out way the risks. These forums also have helped tremendously. I don't post much, but I read a lot. It's so good to see peoples' success stories. The people on here seem to be very supportive, so don't be afraid to reach out. All the best to you. -
I'm taking off 3 weeks but really hope to be back in 2.
