I'm the 11th too! I'm having a band to sleeve revision. I'm overwhelmed too. I've been making a list on essentials we will need and buying them here and there. Also I'm kind if addicted to this site and it's really helping me be better mentally prepared. Hooray for us March patients!

looking for fellow vsg. 8 days post op & doing great! 35yr momma of 2 from Colorado

I'm glad you're doing well! How was your recovery? I had the lap band in 2009 and that recovery was easy. I must say I'm really nervous at times. What kept you motivated to go through with this? Where did you have your surgery? I had my band at North Suburban. My revision will be in Eau Claire, and I'm a little nervous because my surgeon has only done 10 revisions. Lots of sleeves, but not many revisions. I can't wait to be back in Colorado! It sucks here!! My one and only munchkin is 5. We're hoping to move back to Arvada, but that all depends on where my job will be. I'm so glad I found this thread! Hope to talk to you soon! Katherine -
I'm still pre op but I posed this question to my surgeon. He said the larger the bougie size the less chance of having a stricture.

Hey ladies! I'm not currently in Denver, but will be in June. I moved from Arvada last winter to Wisconsin, and after -50 degrees here, well, I've had enough!! After my son finishes kindergarten we'll finally be back! My surgery is scheduled for March 11th. I'd love to find some women who have going through this in common with me! -
I'm having my revision on March 11th. I was scheduled originally for December, and got cold feet. I've had some time now to better mentally prepare. This board has helped so much with putting things in perspective. My fears are bleeding and leaking. But I trust in God, my surgeon, and positive thinking. KajunGumbo- did your surgeon mention anything about using bigger staples for the scar tissue the band may have created?

Has anyone heard if using a larger staple size for revisions? I was concerned about scar tissue and my surgeon said he may use a larger staple to get through it?

I've had my band since 2009 and like most, it helped for a short while. My lowest weight was 142 with the band. It seemed like if I had a bad period, my band would tighten. If I had any stress, my band would get tight. It came to be that I couldn't even swallow my saliva, let alone Water. I had the Fluid removed in 2010, and it's been a battle since. I regained all my weight and then some. I was scheduled for a revision to the sleeve in December, then chickened out. I wandered into the "complications" forum on here, and got pretty freaked out. So I tried working my band again. I did go from 230 to 205 with this new fill, mostly thanks to constant vomiting from food getting stuck. I recently took a trip and my band got extremely tight from change in elevation. I've decided I'm done with this struggle. I'm done only being able to eat Soup. I'm scheduled for my revision (again) on 3-11. I'm ready. I am afraid of having a leak. I'm afraid that my surgeon has only done 10 revisions. But he has a 0% leak rate....so far. But my biggest fear is dealing with my weight issues for the rest of my life.

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
kkrose replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can go ahead and cancel me off your list for December 3rd. I've decided this surgery is not for me at this time. Good luck to all of you! -
Hi there. I'm scheduled for December to have my band removed and a revision to the sleeve. Most days I'm 100% sure this is the right choice. But some days I'm not so sure. I guess I'm mostly scared of the recovery. I've had so many issues with the band as well, and I'm afraid of having complications with the sleeve. Please tell me others are going through this as well. Are there any post ops that had these feelings?

Anyone else having second thoughts?
kkrose replied to kkrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks gals. I went through insurance hoops with the band, but immediately was approved for the revision due to complications. I'm so glad I found this site. All your insight and knowing I'm not alone makes things easier. -

If there was a Class Action Lawsuit against the band....
kkrose replied to Nursebarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Doesn't the Duodenal Switch involve making the stomach into the sleeve? I believe this has been around for quite some time now? At least longer than the band has been around. I can't wait to have my band removed and have my revision! -
In Sleep Study Hell!
kkrose replied to makinithappen2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm actually a Registered sleep Technologist and may have some insight for you. Yes, a lot of insurance companies now won't pay for an in-lab study, and therefore you do a home study. If the home study results come back for OSA (obstructive sleep apnea), then either you come into the lab for a formal CPAP titration, or get placed on Auto-PAP. As for the run around with your results and doctors, completely unprofessional in my opinion. I feel CPAP compliance is 90% mask comfort and 10% patient education on the risks of untreated OSA. In my experience, the mask HAS to be comfortable. If it's not, you're going to throw it in the floor and say "the hell with this!". So many times I hear patients get rushed into a mask by the DME provider. This is not right because insurance will only cover one mask every 3-6 months. Then, it's out of your pocket. I try to find the best mask for the patient in the lab the night if their sleep study. And I fully explain to my patients what to expect at the DME company and to not get rushed into a mask. Try it on. Lay down with it. Lay how you would lay at home with it. What's comfortable to some may not be comfortable to you. Good luck to all the future sleep studies and remember this is just a hoop to jump and you're on your way to a better, more healthy you! -
I was going to have my band to sleeve conversion after the 1st of the year, and my new insurance has NO bariatric coverage as of Jan 1st, 2014!! Ahhhh!!!
