    Fluid intake

I'm feeling this way with Water and lemonade too! But I can definitely feel restriction with Protein shakes! I'm 16 days out, by the way!

    Protein gel

I had Pro-Stat while in the hospital. It's gushy and gel-y, kind of the consistency of what's inside a Gusher candy. It was 15 grams of Protein in one ounce. Even the one ounce was hard for me to get down the first few days (we took some home) I think because it was too heavy. Or maybe my body didn't like it. But I was also having really bad acid reflux and gas so I also could have been misinterpreting. I don't know LOL Here's the website- http://www.pro-stat.com/ I had the citrus blast and grape in the hospital. I liked the grape a hell of a lot better than the citrus. Both can be mixed into lemonade or juice but the flavor over-takes the flavor of the juice/lemonade so there's no point, really. But yeah, that's my experience with it! I don't plan to buy it in the near future but it's definitely interesting!
  3. My first day back to work was as dreadful as I imagined it would be.

Good idea about the apple juice. Regarding protein, you might want to look into the no flavor protein powders that you can add to your foods. That may help you get the boost you need! Good luck!

I have Genepro but I have no time to eat, or maybe I just don't? I spend all my time sipping on my protein shakes and water. I just don't understand where I have time to eat between that and work even though at this point I'm allowed to have soft foods. So I'm pretty much still on a liquid diet and that must have something to do with my low energy level as well.

I started feeling better once I began eating real food and not just the shakes. There are soft foods that are easy and portable like String Cheese sticks and Greek yogurt. Also you can prep hard boiled eggs and divide canned goods into serving size amounts that you can take to work. Take some time for YOU and make a plan so that you can feel better! Good luck!

    One week buyers remorse

You will be able to eat that again, just smaller portions. And that's exactly what I'm telling myself to get through the day. I think you and I need to go out for some Mexican food together when we're a few months out because since surgery I've been having the same craving! I would kill for some chips and queso and a margarita! But mine may not work out so well anymore because apparently you have to choose between eating or drinking or there won't be enough room for either Oh well! Still happy I did it!
  6. Baby spoons are actually really helpful for portion control!

good to know. I bought some, and have them ready for when I will need them further down the line.

Good choice! I was struggling so much the first few days with how much of a regular spoon should I fill to count as a sip or a bite or what-have-you. The baby spoon happened to be exactly what was right for me! And it really makes my head feel like I'm eating more than I am.

    Newly sleeved

I slept on a recliner until 8 days post-op with almost no problems pain-wise. Now I sleep in bed. The first night was miserable. Now I take a pain pill before bed to keep the aches at bay and keep me asleep!

    My collarbone is beautiful...

AH! I'm so jealous ! Seeing my collarbone again is one of my all-time biggest goals ! I can't wait until I get there! I hope it looks as good as yours ! Well done!
  10. Oh my gosh!!! That is wonderful!!!! I'm so happy for you! Congrats!
  11. Girl!!!! I am so excited to be able to wear affordable clothes! I'm going to need to get a very large closet !
  12. Mmmm @@kymmiej11 That sounds great! And I already have all the ingredients ! I'll have to make that! I'm thinking if I were to make it and the serve it with pita triangles at Christmas it would be a great appetizer. And then I could just eat it without the bread and not look too out of place. Perfect Thanks!
  13. Hey guys! It's Sarah again! So I'm 8 days out from surgery and down 15 pounds Here are my stats: Highest Weight - 375 (January 2014) Surgery Weight - 337 Current Weight - 322 THAT'S 53 POUNDS I'VE LOST IN A YEAR!!! I still have 160lbs to go but I feel that it's better to focus on the positive right now and show just how big of a difference -50 pounds is. Here's a before and current pic- I'm so excited! I can see little differences everywhere! My boobs are smaller, my legs are smaller, my waist is smaller, my face is smaller! I'm so proud of myself! AND I lost most of that weight pre-op so wooooo!! So pretty much I just want to encourage others to take a minute and Celebrate how far you've come instead of how far left you have to go. Think positive! Let yourself see the changes. You are awesome!
  14. Hey guys! I was sleeved December 11th! Down 17 pounds I'm still struggling with getting all my protein and water in. I just don't understand how we're supposed to get down 64 ounces of water PLUS 60-100 gm of protein! I've been working on this 11 ounce protein shake for three hours! I hope everybody is doing well who had surgery and good luck to those who are about to go under! XOXO

    One Week Post OP

My surgery was 12/11 as well! I also had that hungry feeling. Turned out it was a combination of gas pain and acid reflux. I started taking Reglan two days ago and it got so much better. Every now and then, though, I do feel what I think is hunger. I also had TERRIBLE sharp shooting pains that would start from the bottom of my belly and move up. It took my pain from a 2 to an 8 easy. Damn they hurt. Turns out it was gas. Reglan also helped with that. Try talking to your Doc!

@BLERDgirl, do you mean I shouldn't be trying to drink for an hour continuously or the shakes lose nutritional value (kind of like caffeine has a half life) after an hour?

I'm drinking an 11 ounce shake but it just looks so huge now! I'll try an 8 ounce shake later with no added ice! Thanks guys!

    3. BLERDgirl

      BLERDgirl

Just give yourself a break after an hour. That's too long to be constantly drinking. I agree breaking it up into smaller portions may be helpful

  21. Like others said, my doc says I'm allowed to drive as soon as I'm off the pain meds and in his words: "As soon as you won't be afraid to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision". I started driving 6 days post op. I was cleared for everything expect weight lifting at 8 days out. My doc suggests light walking for 10 to 15 minutes around the block and moving up slowly. I'm already way past that. I'm going to try the elliptical today! I also love hiking but I know my energy isn't high enough for that yet

    Sleeved on 12/16-Very Sore

I was sleeved nine days ago and finally able to walk around without having to hold up the right side of my belly to avoid that painful stretchy feeling. Sometimes if I've been too active that day (I have a bad habit of not listening to my body when I need to rest) it'll get sore and I have to go back to holding it. Also if I sneeze or cough or laugh too much it'll start hurting again and I'll have to hold it as I walk for a little while that day. Stopped taking regularly pain meds on day 5-ish. Hope you feel better!
  23. I feel ya!!! I'm a week out from surgery and exhausted from doing regular activities like going to the Doc or running to walmart. I've found that if I drink a small glass of 100% apple juice (no more than 5 ounces) I perk back up a bit. It seems to be because of low blood sugar for me.
