    Post op 12/16/13

I was just banded on Monday as well. You can't gulp it anymore. I think of it like drinking whiskey or brandy or something you have to sip and savor. I definitely drink more than 1 oz per 15 mins, but it's little sips at a time. Sip, swallow, sip, swallow (and not too fast). If sips don't work, yeah you should go to the ER!
  2. I'm about 3 days post op. I have had a decent amount of pain. It's different than what I was expecting. Some were some better, lol. Good luck and I wish you the best. Here's to a new you!!

    Dec 2013

I was banded on Monday and still in a lot of pain. I'm trying to get up and walk around and that helps but my incision site hurts the worst. I'm not hungry at all and so I'm forcing myself to drink the liquids. My incision site also is bleeding just a bit. I called the doctor and since it wasn't much at all they said not to worry. It's starting to bleed a bit more but still not bad. I'm miserable. What all are you guys doing for your full liquid diet? Protein shakes, chicken broth, juices, tea, and tomato soup. What else is out there? Can we do fruit smoothies if they are fully blended? I tried plain Greek yogurt today and it was too tart.

    Help! Banded This Morning.

I was banded yesterday too... still in a decent amount of pain and the gas pain is the worst. I was supposed to have a pain pump but for some reason they didn't put one in. I'm a little miffed at that. I've been trying a heating pad on my back and an ice pack on my belly. I can't get comfortable.

Good luck kimk1999!! I'm sure you will do great. I have two more days of pre-op diet and then surgery is on Wednesday. I'm nervous and excited for it to be over at the same time. My insurance only requests that you tell them when your surgery is, a few days before you have it, but there isn't anything else they "approve". Is that the case for anyone else? I think I'm getting confused by the "approval" talk surrounding surgery day... Ps: does anyone know if you can have miso soup as part of your pre-op diet? Good luck everyone! Xxx Lulu ThanksI'm in Clearwater Fl (USA). My insurance required me to do a 3 month diet with a physician. Have a comorbid condition (high cholesterol or others), then when all that was set and surgery date was picked I needed X-rays, EKG and blood work and a letter from my primary doctor. It took them about 2+ weeks to approve it.Good luck to you too.

Getting really nervous - have to report at the hospital at 10am tomorrow morning. Insurance has approved, I lost the final weight required by my surgeon and every thing is a go. I just with I could fast forward to tomorrow as my anxiety is peaked right now. Not looking forward to the pre-and post op of tomorrow and the week that follows. Hope everyone else is doing well tonight.

I'm Dec 16th date. My pre-op appt is tomorrow morning. I've been doing fairly decent on the 2 week pre-op diet so far, but i have been cheating a bit. I've had a few crackers here and there and some alcohol. The first few days it was torture and now I'm getting used to the lack of eating. I'm getting excited and nervous. I hope my insurance approves it the first time and doesn't find any reason to delay. Good luck everyone!!

    December Maybe..

I'm looking at having mine Dec 16th and therefore I'll get a 2 week break. My surgeon (depending on your work habits) only require a 3 day recovery time off from work. I can't imaging going back that soon and I'm glad this is scheduled for the break.
